Puppies! Scout whelped yesterday in a much- appreciated daytime whelping. The final count was 8 - six black females, one chocolate female, and one black male. Everyone looks good this morning!

As an update, I elected not to breed Poppy this fall. Those of you who contacted me with an interest in yellow puppies, I would suggest talking to Laurel McCord at Bringan Labradors:

She has a litter of yellows due the end of November. They are located in southern Idaho. The dam is from Rhumbline Retrievers, and sire is Higgins, from Windycanyon Labradors. Higgins is the sire to Arlo, who I've used in 2021 (Delta), 2022 (Chivas), and 2023 (Poppy).

Poppy (Tara x Caleb 2019) ran an AKC trial this past weekend with a prior 4H student of mine, who now runs her own dogs in agility and has a dog training business. They did amazing! Poppy qualified in 7 of 8 runs for the weekend.

Novice FAST - 1 place
Master Standard Preferred - 2 Qs
Master JWW Preferred - 3 Qs
That's 2 QQs toward her PACH!
About 73 PACH points.
Time 2 Beat - 20 points

Really nice job for the weekend. They made a great team!

Kristin has been running Poppy (Tara x Caleb 2019) for me this fall, since I'm fat and pregnant and can't run fast enough for my dogs to make time on agility courses. 😂 I barely got Novice Qs with Scout in August, Master courses are beyond me. She was in my 4H club like 20 😳 years ago - love seeing my 4Hers stick with dog sports! She's doing a great job with Poppy.

Sunny, Finn, and Woz are all Poppy x Chase 2023 pups. They got to meet up in the Denver area a few weeks ago and it looked like they had a glorious time!

I showed a couple days of obedience last weekend. Last show for the year. Rush (Tara x Caleb 2019) got UDX2 pass number 4, a variety of OM points, and 3 OTCH points. He finishes the year with 59 (total) points, including 35 for this year.

Annabelle (Chivas x Arlo 2022) now has 2 passes each in Novice Standard and Novice JWW after this weekend. Her original owner had huge agility plans for her, and then passed away unexpectedly when she was about 13 months old. I sent her to a friend in Idaho who has a Holly x Kayak 2018 pup, and Annabelle (formerly Annie) is doing awesome. I think Diana would be proud. ❤️

Six and Clifford (Holly x Floyd 2020) were deployed to North Carolina this week to help with recovery efforts. Always unfortunate when they are needed, but glad they are well trained and available to work in disaster situations!

DEPLOYMENT UPDATE - HURRICANE HELENE: As rescue efforts continue in the wake of Hurricane Helene, additional search teams—including SDF-trained Human Remains Detection (HRD) teams Nick Bartel & Six and Jon Munguia & Clifford and teammates Celina Serrano & Prentiss of California Task Force 2/Los Angeles County Fire Department—have been deployed and are now making their way to the aftermath of the storm to assist recovery efforts.

The storm brought intense winds and heavy flooding to the Southeastern states, resulting in widespread damage and tragically, loss of life. Sadly, many remain unaccounted for at this time.

We are heartbroken for those who have lost loved ones to this devastating storm, and we hope that all those who are still searching for friends or family are reunited soon. Now, as ever, we are grateful for the many rescuers who have answered the call to help those in need during this difficult deployment. ❤️

Poppy is in heat. I've had a couple stud dog options I've been thinking about. Going into winter, having a litter is possible this year (have a friend who will help raise them) but not nearly as convenient as summer litters. Wyoming winters can be awful.

I know I have a list for Scout's pups, but I haven't advertised at all for Poppy. Do I have people interested in a puppy this winter? If so, drop me a message. These would all be 3/4 show and should be nice performance dogs.

The black and yellow litter with Russel would be closest to what I did with Poppy x Demo a few years ago, since both Demo and Russel are grandsons of GCH Venetian's Copy That.

The black and yellow litter with Turbo would be similar to what I did with Tara x Jett several years ago. Poppy is a Tara daughter, and Turbo is a Jett son.

The yellow litter with Norm is a new concept, but the pedigree is packed with MHs and this should be a nice performance option. He has plenty of go and is a nice marking dog.

I don't think any of these will result in show prospects, they'll just be attractive performance or active pet pups.

There is a yellow QA2 field trial male I've looked at, it's just been awhile since I've done a 3/4 to full field trial breeding, and I don't think I have any yellow field trial commitments out there. If y'all are lurking and serious, please let me know and we can talk about that!

Trudy (Poppy x Demo 2021) finished both open agility titles. She is now in Excellent STD and JWW! She also got her CGC and Novice Trick Dog at a trial in Prineville, OR this past weekend. Congratulations Trudy!

Congratulations to Finn (Poppy x Chase 2023) on Junior Hunter passes #2 and #3! He's doing great and should finish his title in the spring. The arrival of duck hunting season kind of puts an end to hunt test competitions in most areas of the country.

Congrats to Lucy (Chivas x Norman 2020) and Ernie on their CDX obedience title! Lucy achieved the 3 passes in 3 attempts this past weekend. On to Utility next!

Rush in Utility B this morning. 192.5/200 for 4th place (OM points but no OTCH points). Overall I was happy with him. Fronts and finishes got us - they are still (always) a work in progress. First place dog was a 195.

I get kind of superstitious about videos, but it's nice to have videos periodically to mark progress!

Scout (Poppy x Demo 2021) also ran a hunt test last weekend! She picked up 2 SH passes. I don't think we'll finish it this year because we only have 3 and need 5, but she's been doing great.

It was a good weekend for Kolfyre dogs! Doodle aka Work of Art (Allie x Norman 2020) picked up his 2nd and 3rd JH passes this weekend in Nebraska. I got to see him but didn't watch him run- but I heard he did great. Good job Doodle!
