Meet our lesson horse Texas Red River Dream.

Texas is a 23 year old breeding stock paint who has been a part of Windfeather Training Center for about 17 years. Pretty amazing to have a horse that came from his background become a lovely, lesson horse with tons of try.

I took him in for training the same year I had gotten my personal horse Abednego, Tex was a year older than Abe.

I started them both at the same time but Texas came with a little man made baggage. His owner surrendered him in exchange for $$$ owed for training🥲, and that was the beginning of our story.

It took over six months of careful ground work and confidemce building as well as a much needed helping hand from a young trainer in our area to get him under saddle. (Megan Dischler)

He was so afraid of all the equipment his training had to be consistent. The first 6 months actually was a long repetitive process. Then we decided it was time for him to try under saddle. Megan stepped on and his eyes got big and he unloaded here gracefully onto the ground. She got right back up on and I hand walked them around and then eventually trotted him in hand until he was ready to go off the lunge line. It took about 6 months for him to build up his confidence.

He has been with us for such a longtime & he never ever acted out since that very first ride. He has been a happy willing boy who loves the attention he gets from his students. We never get to highlight him or brag about his winnings. I wanted to just send a thank you out to the universe for bringing our farm such a great horse. He may not be fancy, his conformation so so, but he is the kind of horse that riding programs are built on.

We took a chance on him, and prevented him from being run through a sale and was rewarded in the highest form. Thank you Texas Red River Dream for all the years and praying for many more. ❤️❤️❤️❤️our lesson horse Texas.

Shooting Stars Drill team in the DePere Bicentennial parade …. 1976…. My horse Pride… I was 13 and she was the reason I did everything I could to learn about horses, from getting a degree in Equine Management and following a dream I had almost forgotten. Remember where you come from and don’t let anyone take your passion away from you.
She was my friend, my teacher and the very best horse ever❤️❤️

Submit your youth featured articles and they could be included in our monthly newsletter! Tell us about your child’s discovery of horses or a special moment they shared with their horse! Or have your kid’s tell us about the funniest thing their horse has done or what’s their favorite breed and why! These are just examples and anything horse related could make a great article! We’re excited to hear from you!

Exciting times!! Today is the last day of website trial and training! What that means is the next two weeks we will be busy creating content and uploading it to our new website www.hoofprintsforkids.com

Hoofprints For Kids is a membership based, online Educational site, that is loosely based off of the kids magazine “Highlights”, only it is designed on an interactive platform and is all about horses!!

We are targeting kids ages 9-16 at this time, and our information, videos, do-it-yourself projects, and activities are designed to support lesson programs, but more importantly reach those kids who show an interest in horses but not ready to lesson or own your own horse. Hoof Prints for Kids is designed to provide opportunities to discover the wonderful world of horses.

In addition to our monthly content we will be offering Educational contests that are Free with membership, and easy to participate in. You will need to email your submissions to [email protected]

Our “soft launch” will begin the first week of November with special pricing for the Holidays.

Please stay tuned for updates and those of you willing to participate in our “soft launch”, and provide feedback for us please contact me to be issued your test login and password.
