Hello, handsome! 🐶💚 #adoption #kerncounty #dogrescue #adoptdontshop #pocketpitty #frenchbulldogmix #almostedenrescue
I just want to really take a moment and share some really powerful numbers of what we were able to accomplish as a team this year. In the year 2023, we saved the lives of 51 dogs. Thank you to all who have donated, shared our posts, opened your homes to fosters, and most importantly for making a difference not only in the lives of the animals but for also working to make this community a better place to be. These numbers aren’t just numbers, these are lives saved and they represent a soul that has been made better simply because we exist, and refuse to allow this crisis to go unnoticed and unchallenged, we are all stronger together! May 2024 bring so much more. 💚🐶 @followers
Can you believe that our little Sophia has not had any interest at all!
She is such a good girl and absolutely loves ALL the dogs, especially the puppies.
Sophia is a 4 to 5 years old long haired chihuahua possibly pomeranian mix. She is super friendly with all people, does great with children and other dogs. Unsure about cats at this time.
She loves to cuddle, play with soft squeaky toys, explore outside, she enjoys being social with other dogs.
Sophia is still looking for her furever home or even a foster family to snuggle up with.
If you're interested please message our page for details. Or apply to apply directly to adopt/foster on our website:
Look at what Bo-Peep has learned!
Bo is such a sweet and smart, eager to learn little girl. She is 10 weeks old and will be ready for a new home very soon ❤️

Luke LOVES to demolish toys! He also gets the zoomies, leaps happily into the pools, and is a grand master at fetch. 💚🐶 #adoptme #adoptdontshop #adoptabull #almostedenrescue
Fourth of July preparations have begun!
Almost Eden Rescue will be hosting microchip and shot clinics every weekend for the month of June to help lost pets find their way home on the fourth.
If there is anyone in the community who cannot afford a microchip at this time, we will be giving out these adorable & festive bandanas free of charge at our clinics. Our treasurer has put together a tutorial below to demonstrate how these can be used in a way similar to a microchip.
Our next chip and shot clinic will be held on June 11, from 4-6 PM. Message us today to make an appointment!
Valentina aka Odin, is doing very well at Mitch Rameriz's K9 Pawsitive Training where she does board and train in Bakersfield! Valentina has some appointments coming up in April for her eye and bone issues, plus to get spayed. In the meantime after spending all that time in isolation due to distemper, she is getting some much needed socialization and play time with other dogs! We cannot thank Mitch enough for helping Valentina while she waits for a foster to adopt placement. If you would like to meet her in the Bakersfield area, contact us or Mitch!
Update on Rosie! She is the senior that one of our fosters was contacted about by the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. They had a patient going on life support and the family was going to put her little dog to sleep, but our foster stepped up to the plate and we took her. She is now available for adoption or our senior to senior program.
She had both a claw and a foxtail embedded into one of her paws. We enlisted Sherri with Sherri’s Top Dog Grooming and then to her vet appointment. Sherri was able to get the claw out and the vet was able to get the foxtail. She was put on anti-biotics and got her blood test (which she aced). Then Bishop Veterinary did her dental, which included removing 3 teeth!!!
Our wonderful donors have paid her vet bills and we just cannot thank them enough!!! We can only do this with donors and fosters! Everyone can help these animals foster, adopt, rescue, sponsor, donate, network, it is ALL invaluable to saving lives <3 <3 <3
We are asking for healing good vibes and prayers today for Andy.
We rescued this little guy from death row at only 8 weeks old in 2015. He got adopted but was soon returned. He had become fear aggressive plus had a deathly reaction to the rabies shot and his front legs were growing deformed. He became what we call a "rescue reject", put into hospice care with us and unadoptable.
His foster family loves him very much and he apart of the family. Any other foster dogs to go thru them has been partially trained by Andy because he is very friendly with other dogs, and helps teach them the doggy door and to bark at an empty bag blowing in the wind.
This little guy has developed a herniated disc in his back. It has caused him to lose most all the feeling in his left back leg. So poor little guy has 3 bad legs now 😥 But the specialist in Torrance is not recommending surgery at this time. Instead, he gets pain killers and steroids and crate rest. We check back in 2 weeks to see what the update is.
2019 Was a wild year!
2019 was very exciting for us! We started off with a warehouse for storage and dreams of making it a rescue one day. We then handled a hoarding case in Inyokern with 45 plus unfixed dogs on the property! Thanks to our good rescue friends in Washington and our wonderful donors, we were able to get 21 of those dogs to Washington rescues! 2 of those dogs went to a Lancaster rescue and 1 went to Socks and Paws Rescue here in town. Then in May we opened our rescue boutique at 335 W. Ridgecrest Blvd, selling new and used items plus a great place to have adoption events every weekend! Then late June began the fireworks and as every year, we opened our hearts and homes to lost animals to reunite them with their owners. To our surprise before the fireworks season was over, earthquakes began July 4th followed by a really huge 7.1 July 5th and... unfortunately.... the fireworks continued right thru it!!! Animals were lost, abandoned, hurt, running wild due to walls falling down and fences uprooted, people were in transition and temporarily unable to keep their pets, first responders even needed help while they worked. The aftershocks were nonstop and continual for weeks. We were there, every step of the way with the community. We opened 24-7 taking in animals and running Lost Animals in Indian Wells Valley group. The community rallied behind us, and people came from far and wide to help with the animals or donate or volunteer their time and homes! The goodness in people was everywhere! The warehouse became The Ark, with the community even rebuilding the fence. They stocked it with food and supplies for the animals. We have added gas lines, a heater, we jimmy rigged the swamp cooler and had to hand soak the pads with sprinklers, we rebuilt the entrance, we added a washer and dryer, we rebuilt the gate too. There is much work left to do, but little by little it is getting tackled. In 2019 we also had our 5th year anniversary as a 501c3. Sadly one of our original board members, C
Omg trying to take photos of the puppies 😂 mainly just the ones belly up came out. They are available for foster or adoption
Baloo is doing great with his foster mom Ainslee Hample. She has been taking him out on 2 walks everyday and working with him on obedience training. She has also opened up a group that is free to the public to do get togethers with people and their dogs for socialization and training in Ridgecrest, California. Abandoned puppies, Rescue Village we need your help!!
Rescue Village we have a very tough post to make. The video below may be graphic for some viewers. On 3/26 Almost Eden was informed of 2 puppies found on the side of a road. They were covered in ticks and fleas and alone. We immediately got them to our bottler feeder foster. She was able to get the puppies to eat & potty. They seemed stable and then things went bad, very bad the next morning on 3/27. Our foster rushed the female to the vet for an emergency visit. After many tests is when we learned the horrific facts that one of the puppies were suffering from head trauma and the female was diagnosed with encephalitis (swelling of the brain). She was put on 2 different medications, given antibiotics and fluids and yogurt to help with her seizuring. Sadly our little Tahya passed away at the vets office yesterday evening. We learned there were 4 more puppies found (1 was deceased) that resemble our 2 puppies in age and looks. These other puppies were found in pairs on roads at different times and by different people then ours, but all in Bakersfield. We are assuming these puppies were thrown out of the window of a moving car in pairs. Thankfully all the surviving puppies are in rescues. We are asking for anyone in the Bakersfiled area to please keep an eye out for a lactating mama dog possibly an Australian Shepherd or Australian Shepherd mix. We are not certain on breed but vet believes they are Aussies. We always appreciate support to cover our unexpected vet bills and medical, and ongoing care costs for our puppies.
