Freshpet is recalling dog food it says could be contaminated with salmonella.
The company says it was going to destroy this one lot of its "Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe", but some of it was accidentally shipped to retailers.

FRESHPET® SELECT FRESH FROM THE KITCHEN HOME COOKED RECIPE 627975011673 10/29/22 10/29/22 L3

There are no reports of injuries yet, but it could make your dog sick and you sick.

Dogs with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some dogs will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy dogs can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. The FDA says that if your dog has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

"The safety of pets and pet parents and the quality of our products are of the greatest importance, and we value the trust placed in Freshpet.

Pet parents who have questions or would like to report adverse reactions should call 1.800.285.0563 Mon. through Fri., 9 am–9 pm (EDT) and Sat. through Sun. 9 am--1 pm (EDT) or visit https://freshpet.co/JUNE22External Link Disclaimer."

This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

BREAKING: USA Today -
"Seresto, one of the most popular flea and tick collars in America poses “too great a risk to animals and humans” and should be removed from the market, a congressional subcommittee recommended in a report released Wednesday ahead of its hearing titled “Seresto Flea and Tick Collars: Examining Why a Product Linked to More than 2,500 Pet Deaths Remains on the Market.”

The congressional report noted that pets experienced symptoms including skin problems, “lethargy, abnormal behavior, excessive grooming and vocalization, vomiting, diarrhea, and anorexia.” More than a third involved problems in “multiple organ systems,” with some experiencing “convulsions, muscle tremors, and loss of control of bodily movements.” Ten percent of those pets died or were euthanized after wearing the collar.

Pet owners, too, experienced adverse effects after coming into contact with the collar, according to the congressional report. Symptoms included hives and dermatitis, but also more serious problems like “respiratory, neurological, and digestive effects, with throat irritation, breathing difficulty, dizziness, and nausea.”

“Notably, these observed effects on humans were consistent with clinical studies into Imidacloprid –one of the collar’s main active ingredients,” the congressional report said."

It's 85 degrees outside. People like to leave their dogs in the car while they run into the store for just a "minute". If we get to your car before you come back out, the ticket is $260. We have a city ordinance that states:

"Further, it shall be unlawful to:
(3)Leave an animal enclosed within a vehicle, or the bed of a parked truck, in ambient temperature which exceeds 79 degrees Fahrenheit unless said animal is enclosed inside the vehicle with the air conditioning turned on." under Sec 6-9.

Please leave your pets at home. The inside of a car heats up very quickly.

If you witness this happening Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, call 405-372-0334.

If it is after hours or the weekend, call 405-372-4171 immediately.
