With all this winter weather, we are looking forward and planning ahead for warmer weather to come!

Once again, we will be offering our annual savings on tick and flea prevention! Our 10% discount is offered when purchasing your 9 to 12 month supply from now until April 15, 2025.

As a reminder, we are recommending year-round prevention due to the increase in local ticks. Ticks are active whenever the temperature hits 4 degrees or above, and unlike fleas who require the temperature to remain consistently over that number, ticks do NOT require any ‘warm up’ period and are immediately searching for their next meal! 🍽

With such an influx of ticks, we have been seeing an increase in tick-borne diseases such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis. Being consistent with your tick prevention is the easiest and best way to ensure your fur-babies are protected.

Every year we are happy to donate a selection of food to the wonderful animals in the care of the Owen Sound Animal Shelter, as well as a cash donation to the local rescue, Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.

Both of these organizations to amazing work for the animal community and their dedication and compassion to all animals, large and small. Thank you for all the care you provide our furry friends, and finding them the their fur-ever homes!

Thank you also to everyone who stopped by with donations! We were all thrilled to see so many donations come in - from bags of food, treats, beds and blankets, collars and leashes, toys and so much more! They will all be put to good use.

Finally, a thank you to a couple of our reps from ProConcepts, Virbac, Adventix and Royal Canin for generously donating some of their products as well!

We wish everyone a happy holiday season and a very merry New Years!

The Holidays are fast approaching! This year is looking a little different with the opening of the Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic (BVEC)! This is the 24 hour weekend emergency clinic that runs out of our facility. They will be open their regular hours (Friday’s at 6pm running through until Monday mornings at 6am), in addition to being open December 24th at 6pm until Dec 27th at 6am. They will also be open Dec 31st at 6pm until Jan 2nd, 2025 at 6am. This means that North Heritage Animal Hospital will be closed these days to make room for BVEC staff.

In addition to these changes, the building will also be closed on the dates indicated by our North Heritage Animal Hospital logo (Dec 24th, 27th, 30th and 31st). We will have a doctor and a technician “on-call” that will be available to see any emergent cases that need to be seen during those days. In case of an emergency on these days, please call the clinic and you will be forwarded to SmartVet for triage and if a visit is needed, they will get in contact with the doctor/technician team.
The dates not indicated with a logo, we will be open our regular business hours.

It is very important to note that there will be no medication or food pick ups from December 24th through to January 1st due to these changes in the schedule. Please make sure to take stock of what you will need and order well in advance to these dates to ensure you do not run out over the holidays.

Tis' the season of giving!🎄🎁

From now until the new year, our clinic is collecting donations for animals in need of a little holiday cheer!

As most of you know, our clinic works very closely with the Owen Sound Animal Shelter and Second Chance Animal Sanctuary. We like to do what we can to give back to these amazing groups and help spoil the animals in their care, and we would love if you joined us!
Whether it be a bag of cat/dog food, a few cans of wet food, toys (new or gently used), beds, p**p bags, p*e pads, etc. - any donations would be greatly appreciated!

The Holidays are right around the corner! If your pet is on any medications or a special order diet, please check your supply NOW and place your order to ensure it arrives on time.

Keep an eye out as we post our holiday hours in the next couple of weeks, as they will be looking a little different this year with the opening of the Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic (BVEC). We are happy to have this much needed emergency care in our area. We will be posting our holiday schedule as soon as we are able.

Are you travelling this Holiday season? Make sure your pets are covered incase of an emergency!

If you are travelling out of the area, and your pet(s) will be under the care of a friend, family member or boarding facility, please be sure to contact the clinic to fill out a “Pet Care Emergency Authorization Form”.
In case of emergency, it is vital that we know who will be bringing in the pet and to what extent they are able to make medical decisions, in the event that you (the owner) are unreachable.

It is best to be over prepared than under prepared!

Ticks are here and they are not going anywhere! Ticks have gradually made their presence in Grey Bruce known, and they have proven they are not going anywhere. Among them, most commonly, we are seeing the Blacklegged tick which is notorious for spreading Lyme disease to both humans, and our pets.
We have unfortunately had many cases of Lyme positive pets in our area, and surrounding clinics, that have ended up with life-threatening complications.

Ticks are active whenever the temperature is above 4 degrees, and unlike fleas, they do not require any time to warm up before they are searching for their next meal.
As a result, because of our mild winters the last few years, we have been encouraging pet owners towards YEAR-ROUND tick prevention.

Fundraiser Alert!!

We are happy to announce we are currently running a fundraiser to help raise funds for the Farley Foundation. Pop in the clinic, donate what you can and guess the amount of candies in the jar! Whomever’s guess is the closest to the actual number will win the jar to enjoy!

This fundraiser will be running until December 3rd. The winner will be contacted the following week to collect their prize!

We are SO happy to announce and be apart of the official opening of Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic, a 24 hour weekend emergency clinic. This is a service we have desperately needed in our area, and we are proud to be apart of the solution.

We want to stress that although this service will be running out of our facility, BVEC is a completely separate business with separate computer/record system that we as North Heritage do not have access to.

If your pet has been seen by BVEC on the weekend, records will be sent directly to your regular clinic. Please follow up with your regular clinic with any follow up questions or concerns.
