Exciting Opportunity to Save 30 More Animals from the Bahamas!
As you know, we’ve recently taken in 80 dogs and 39 cats, and now we have the most amazing opportunity to take in 30 more animals from the Bahamas Humane Society on August 21. The flight is completely paid for and will arrive in New Hampshire. However, we still need to transport these animals from New Hampshire to our location.
We are currently working to find a plane for this next leg of their journey. If that’s not possible, we will transport them across the border via a transport truck company, which will cost a minimum of $6000.
A huge shout out to Dr. Mosher of Herringcove Vet for providing her amazing space in Tantallon. However, we only have this space until August 15, so we need at least 30 more foster homes to make this happen.
What do we need from you?
• Fosters: We need loving temporary homes for these animals.
• Adopters: Help us find forever homes for these wonderful pets.
• Donations: Financial support to cover transport and care costs.
• Shares: Spread the word to help us reach as many people as possible.

Quincy is a lively and playful puppy who thrives on his daily walks and loves tossing his squeaky toys around the backyard. He absolutely adores attention and will lean into you for pets as long as you’ll give them. When he first arrived from the Bahamas, he had a habit of nipping to get attention, but thanks to his dedicated foster parent, he has improved significantly and may just need gentle reminders when he gets too excited.
Although Quincy doesn’t yet give signals when he needs to go outside, he’s never had an accident in the house. He’s learned commands like ‘Leave it’, ‘Off’, ‘No’, ‘Sit’, and is currently working on ‘Down’. He sleeps comfortably in his crate at night and stays in his crate when his humans are away. Quincy is excellent on a leash and enjoys his walks.
Currently, Quincy is fostered with two dogs and a cat. He has a healthy respect for the cat and plays well with his canine companions. He hasn’t been tested with children yet.
Quincy is a goofy, energetic pup who loves to snuggle up with you at the end of a busy day. He’s loving, eager to learn, and can’t wait to find his forever home. Could that be with you?

Lavagirl was out on an adventure today.She made it to Tim Hortons for bacon, the beach to check out the sand and then to The little ice cream shop for a pup cup. What a brave girl she was today. She met some young children and was super gentle and respectful of their space. She sat well. I ate my ice cream and watched patiently in case I dropped anything. What a lovely addition she will make to the perfect house ❤️

Meet V***n 💔(V***n in Feb and yesterday)
Last year, while helping the Humane Society in The Bahamas, we came across a stray momma dog and her newborn pups taking shelter under a big tree trunk on the beach. With the tree set to be removed, the whole family was at risk.
Momma V***n’s sweet nature touched our hearts - it was as if she knew she and her babies were being saved. We knew we had to bring this family to Canada.
In February, we flew Momma V***n to Canada, and she was adopted into what we believed was a loving home. However, on Monday, we received a call that V***n had been found alone and in bad shape at a veterinary office in Amherst. Found on Friday, she was thankfully taken to safety. Her microchip, still registered to our rescue, led them to contact us. Despite being three hours away, we knew we had to bring her back to South Paw as soon as possible.
Thanks to our incredible volunteers, V***n is now home with us. Sadly, she is severely overweight, extremely dirty, and her fur is all matted. It’s clear she was not taken care of 💔.
We have reported this person to the SPCA. We have found a safe place for V***n and are awaiting an appointment at the vet to have her checked out and possibly do some bloodwork to figure out why she’s so extremely overweight in such a short period of time. We have some volunteers willing to take her for a nice bath, get her cleaned up, and make her feel better. She is all full of love and snuggles and so happy to be back in a safe place.

We need volunteers to help out at our facility this Thursday! We’re looking to cover two shifts:
🕛 12 PM - 3 PM
🕓 4 PM - 8 PM
Your support is crucial in ensuring our furry friends get the care and attention they deserve. Tasks include feeding, cleaning, and spending quality time with the animals to keep them happy and healthy.
We also want to introduce you to Sunny! 🌞 Sunny is such a sweet boy who has been living his life in a cage way too small for him. He came to us from foster on Friday and is thriving with all the people, walks, and structure. He does, however, have a huge interest in the cats 🤣, so we would avoid those homes. Everyone who has worked with him over the weekend has fallen in love with him. He has quickly become a favorite here, so we’re hoping to find him the perfect home with someone who is active, loves adventure, and takes their furry friend along with them whenever they can. We don’t want him stuck in a crate at home. This is why we brought him here.

Brock Lee is a 1-year-old male who is the epitome of sweetness and affection. This little guy loves to snuggle up beside you on the couch, making him the perfect lap dog.
🚗 He travels well in the car, enjoying every ride with you.
🐾 Brock Lee is slow and steady, quickly gaining confidence as he trusts you to take the lead and keep him safe. He’s great on a leash and has two adorable white patches on his shoulders that look just like angel wings.
🏠 Brock Lee has impeccable house manners and hasn’t had any accidents indoors. He’s a quick learner, always eager to please. While we’re not sure about his interactions with cats, we believe he wouldn’t chase them.
🐕 Brock Lee would do really well with another dog in the home, providing companionship and playtime.
⚖️ Currently, Brock Lee is just under 30 pounds, making him a perfect size for any home.

We are in need of volunteers to fill some shifts this week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Your help is crucial to ensure all our animals are well taken care of.
Shifts Needed:
• 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM
• 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
• 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM
• 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM
• 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM
If you can help cover any of these shifts, please let us know as soon as possible. Your support is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference for our furry friends.
Additional Needs:
• Garbage Disposal: We need an option for garbage disposal. Does anybody have a business locally where they would have a container for the garbage dumpster?
• Recycling Collection: Is anybody willing to come collect the recyclables and store them in their garage until they are due to go out?(thanks Collette for grabbing recycling)

What an amazing community!
We just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible number of people who have come through the doors of our facility to spend time with the animals. Over 100 volunteers have reached out and helped, and we are truly overwhelmed and thankful for all the amazing support this past week.
Every day, we have people walking dogs, which is fantastic for getting these guys ready for their forever homes and used to meeting new people. We have volunteers coming just to snuggle with cats, play with puppies and dogs, pick up laundry to wash and return with warm towels fresh out of the dryer, and more.
We’ve had people dropping off much-needed food and supplies, selling tickets, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and washing walls and windows. Your dedication and kindness have been truly heartwarming.
We have people driving from Dartmouth, the Eastern Shore, South Shore, the Valley, and everywhere in between just to come spend time with our babies. Your efforts are making a huge difference.
Let’s not forget our amazing fosters who are doing an incredible job at keeping all our babies safe. They provide them with a structured environment, ensure they are healthy, and prepare them for their new homes.
Of course, we cannot forget our amazing vet, Heather, who has not only given us this wonderful space but is also vetting all these animals and supporting us daily, even when we are super overwhelmed. We love you, Heather!
Now, our greatest mission is finding homes for all these wonderful dogs. They are smart, resilient, and doing everything they need to do to succeed in a loving home.

Meet the Incredible Spot
Meet Spot, a four-year-old bundle of joy who is ready to find his forever home! This amazing dog has a medium to high energy level and loves to walk on a leash. Spot is a true cuddle bug who loves to jump up and give hugs. He is great with other dogs with a proper introduction and has shown no interest in cats, making him a versatile addition to a living couple.
Spot has an incredible personality and loves everyone he meets. He has a special way of instantly connecting with people, and they can’t get over how friendly and sweet he is, especially after living so long in a cage. Despite his past, Spot has remained optimistic and full of love. He’s always ready to shower his new friends with affection and bring joy to their lives.
Every intern and volunteer who meets Spot falls in love with his friendly demeanor and big heart. He truly is a remarkable dog who deserves a loving home where he can thrive.
Spot is also a Netflix-and-chill kind of guy. He loves to lounge on the couch with the family, enjoying some quality time and maybe even a bit of popcorn. His relaxed and loving nature makes him the perfect companion for cozy nights in.

Meet the Beautiful Evelyn
Sweet Evelyn is just looking for a place to lay her head. She is loving, affectionate, and has the biggest smile ever. Evelyn spent her last few years in a cage in a cement enclosure, waiting day after day for her happily ever after. Unfortunately, that never came. But an amazing group of people in Nassau saw an opportunity to get some dogs to Nova Scotia and grabbed it. Evelyn is one of those amazing girls who get to take advantage of this opportunity.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed. This is the most loving, sweet, and affectionate dog you’ll ever meet. She walks wonderfully on a lead and just needs someone to love her.
Evelyn is seven years old and just had her teeth cleaned, so she can show off those pearly whites. She’s sweet, calm, and doesn’t seem interested in the cats.

We are pretty excited to let you know that Freedom was a foster fail today. Freedom was at the shelter for quite a while, over three years, and we estimate him to be around 10 years old.
We think it’s pretty amazing that his new mom didn’t even question his age and has already fallen in love with him. Thank you so much for giving him the life he should have had many years ago.

Lavagirl was out on an adventure today.She made it to Tim Hortons for bacon, the beach to check out the sand and then to The little ice cream shop for a pup cup. What a brave girl she was today. She met some young children and was super gentle and respectful of their space. She sat well. I ate my ice cream and watched patiently in case I dropped anything. What a lovely addition she will make to the perfect house ❤️

Help Needed for a Sweet Kitten in Urgent Need This sweet little boy was found in a compost bin this evening, loaded full of maggots. Someone dumped him there—there’s no way he got in there on his own. He’s too little, only about 10 weeks old, and barely over 2 pounds. He’s skin and bones, full of worms, and his lungs are filled up. While he is walking around, his breathing is not great. He’s headed to Metro Emergency right now, which opens at 12 o’clock, but we need financial help as we have no funds for this. This is going on someone’s personal credit card. 🐾🐾 Update on Mama Cat and Kittens🐾🐾 Thanks to everyone who reached out to help, we have a solution! Someone is going to pick up mama and her kittens and keep them safe until they can get to our vet. Mama will be fixed, and then they will head into foster care in Shelburne. We want to let everyone know that we do posts like this because we’ve exhausted all of our avenues. It’s important to share on social media to get more of a reach, but sometimes we just don’t have the time to reach out individually to every rescue or person. Your support and assistance are invaluable. Thank you all for your help and understanding! Please no opinions 😉 We recently received the following email from an individual: Subject: Help Needed for Cat and Kittens Hello! I’m in a tough situation where I need to give up a cat and her kittens. I have a 6-month-old baby and these cats are ruining my house and the well-being of my baby as they’re not litter trained. The momma was my brother’s cat, but he abandoned them as soon as the kitties were born. I have no idea where he is, but I can’t take care of the cats and my baby, and I just need them to find a better home. In all honesty, I’m at my limit with them, and if it comes down to it, they’ll be going to the nearest farm I find. So please take them or point me in the right direction. Clearly, this person is overwhelmed and needs some help. They are located between Truro and the airport. This is the cat’s eighth litter, and we just want to make sure she doesn’t have any more. We offered to cover the cost of fixing the cat if they could keep it, but unfortunately, they are unable to do so. At this time, we do not have the space to accommodate a cat that is not litter trained. Are there any rescues out there willing to take on this challenge? Meet Rubble: A Sweet Boy in Need of a Safe Haven Rubble is a 1.5-year-old, 36 lbs bundle of sweetness who needs a loving home to help him come to Nova Scotia. While he may take a minute to warm up, Rubble becomes incredibly friendly and super sweet. He’s never been in an enclosed space like a house, so he’ll need time to get used to that. Rubble thrives in the company of another dog and is much more confident when he has a canine friend by his side. He’s particularly close with Eva and would do well with a companion. While he is scared of cats, it’s no problem if you have a cat in your home. This very sweet boy just needs a safe place to call home. Hearing that noise from next door and knowing those dogs are about to be euthanized is heartbreaking. It makes me feel a deep sadness and a sense of urgency to do more for these animals. It’s hard not to feel helpless and overwhelmed by the thought that they’ll never experience the love and warmth of a family. It makes me want to hug my own pets a little tighter, appreciating every moment with them, and it strengthens my resolve to keep fighting for those who don’t yet have a home.
