Camponotus pennsylvanicus began their year a little early before the holidays this year! We checked on them and this is what we found inside upon close inspection. 2025 will be a another busy year for this growing colony!

Myrmecocystus navajo queen and colony in a Mini Hearth formicarium. Since the last update, numbers have increased dramatically and more larger repletes have provided cover for the queen while she hangs out amongst them on the ceiling.
Time for another extension…..this Formica subsericea colony has taken to their new nest and accepted the new layout of the flat nest after 12 years in a cavern style formicarium. One day hopefully we will see the queen from overhead again!
