Foster home needed!

Meet Asa, a 1-2 yr old guy! This very handsome, sweet blue boy with a docked tail loves everyone he meets, INCLUDING cats. He is okay with small dogs, big dogs and older kids (only because he gets excited and likes to jump up). He is housebroken, fine left free roaming in the house when nobody is home, and we heard he even likes water. Asa's dad passed away and he needs a new family to call his own. Asa was free-feeding which has contributed to his large size, so it will be best if his new family can change his eating schedule and portion his meals. Won't you give Asa a chance to find his forever family? Asa is in boarding and would love a foster or forever family. For an application to foster or adopt, please visit our website at www.atlantalovesweims.org

Foster found!!

Meet 3 year old Gigi!

Update: Gigi passed her cat test today! What a great girl!!!!

Gigi came to us from a shelter in AL where she was found abandoned with several other dogs after a family had been evicted. Luckily, we we contacted and with a great group of local volunteers, hopped into action to get her to us!

Gigi has been updated on her vaccines, heartworm negative and is already spayed! She's a bit of a skinny gal but is gaining weight and is looking great, and now that she is settled in a bit, she clearly knows how to be with humans and she is really getting to be a lover once she knows you! Plus, she knows a bunch of commands!! She knows Sit, Shake, Stay, is crate trained and housebroken! She is definitely ready to be a member of your family!

If you are interested in Gigi or any of the dogs in our program, please complete an application on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt

Adopted!

Welcoming Coco! Coco is a 7-8 year old big gal that loves to go on long walks, hanging out with her hoomans, being bathed and playing ball. Coco is housebroken and okay left free-roaming. She will do well with older kids as she can be a bit nervous around little kids (she’d prefer a quieter home where there is not a lot of activity). Coco is okay with other dogs but cannot be around cats. Coco is being surrendered by her family due to a new baby coming soon. She is located currently in Columbia, SC.

Sweet Xander remains in boarding. He's been caged up far too long and needs a foster home. AWCR pays for all medical needs, we only ask that you pay for food. Xander is OK with CATS! You just don't find that very often!!! Won't you open your heart and home to Xander?

Not a single offer…. Surely someone is willing to give this amazing dog a place to lay his head. His family didn’t keep him on monthly heartworm… it’s not his fault

ADOPTED!

Meet Baby Muna! Muna is a Weimaraner mix, about 8 weeks old and a mere 4.2 lbs. She is an absolutely the most adorable, sweet little girl we’ve ever seen! Muna was picked up by a local animal control officer as a stray covered in fleas and full of worms and coccidia (all treated). Muna has had her initial puppy shots. She is currently in a foster home with other dogs. Muna is looking for a forever home that has experience with the breed and raising a puppy. For an application, please visit our website: www.atlantalovesweims.org

ADOPTED!!!!

UPDATE from Willie's Foster Mom: Willie is "big-boned" and vertically challenged, perfect for snuggling. He knows how to make himself at home and relax on your sofa and will gladly accept a spot on the bed without even stealing your pillow; he walks on a leash like a gentleman and pretends to hunt until he scares himself by stepping on a worm. His personality is large, yet he is very gentle. He is a big dog that I would trust with a small child. He's also made friends with all the other pups he's met! Can you tell we have fallen in love with this big goof? While he has many wonderful traits, he will remind you that he IS a Weimaraner by cleaning the kitchen counter of any drop of food. He can also take a steak right off the grill, so don't think it will deter him just because it is hot. He has skills that keep everyone laughing! Life will always be exciting with Willie around. At the lake, he will take a dip to cool off and swim a little as long as it is his idea. He has lots of love to give. He is housebroken and generally good in the house, but not a fan of the crate. He likes to nook on a blanket and enjoy the air conditioning. He will make someone the absolute perfect companion. He is healthy, although he does have lots of scars from his past life. There is no telling what he lived through. So please share this post with your friends to help find Willie the kind of home a great dog deserves! If you are interested in learning more about Willie, please complete an application at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt

****** Some of you may remember seeing Willie in some of the Weimaraner pages. He came from a shelter that was overcrowded and he was at risk. Luckily, thanks to some great volunteers, we were able to save him and even find a foster nearby! Meet Willie the Weimaraner! Willie is a 3-4 year old, male Weimaraner that appears to have had a rough start to his young life. He has a few scars and his coat is a bit sunburned, but you can be sure that with some good food and lots of love, he'll be as handsome as ever! He picked up an upper respiratory crud at the shelter, so he's convalescing before we schedule him for neuter. Once he's feeling better, I'm sure he'll be relaxing into his foster home and be able to meet his foster siblings! We are just learning more about Willie, so stay tuned! We are taking applications for Willie, but we will need to wait until he is well and we know more about him before we determine the best environment for him. If you are interested in Willie or any of our adoptable weimies, please complete an application at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt.

Where are our amazing fosters? XANDER NEEDS A FOSTER HOME!

Meet Xander!

Unfortunately, Xander has been diagnosed with heartworms and will be getting his first injection on August 10th (after 30 days of Doxycyline). Xander will need a foster home that can keep him calm during his treatment for 30 days. PLEASE, if you can step up for Xander, he'd be most grateful as he is currently in boarding.

Xander is a male, neutered, 1.5 year old Weim/Lab Mix or possibly a Silver Lab that is transferring into our rescue from Sport Dogs Life Rescue hoping that we can find a great home for him! If you are looking for a perfect hiking companion, this is your guy!

Xander is everything you'd want a young pup to be! He loves being outside and he loves to play with other dogs. He even tolerates the family cat! He is good with kids, but sometimes his exhuberance can be overwhelming, so he will need to learn some manners! He LOVES the water and can't help himself around a pool and wants to jump in and splash around! He's a youngster, so he needs an active family that will give him the exercise he needs and invest in some basic training so that he can be your best friend!

Xander is up to date on vaccines & neutered! If you are interested in Xander, please send an application on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org

ADOPTION PENDING!!!

It's hard to believe that nobody has scooped up Teagan! She's a fantastic girl...loves her hoomans!

Teagan is doing great in her foster home...she loves to get a good romp in every day with her foster brothers. She rarely barks, sleeps through the night on her dog bed in the bedroom, and learned the dog-door in just a few minutes. 7 yr old Teagan gets along great with the boys, so a family with a submissive male would be perfect! She's going to make someone an amazing companion. For an adoption application, please visit our website: www.atlantalovesweims.org

JETT IS STILL AVAILABLE! HARD TO BELIEVE HE HASN'T BEEN SCOOPED UP!!!!

Update 2: Jett's foster mom says he’s literally perfect. He noses the door to let us know he wants to go out. He sits and waits to be fed and has even slowed down his eating to a somewhat normal Weim speed. He is totally house broken and just tells the birds in the front yard that this is his house when they come flying around. He has met our neighbors and friends of all ages and genders and wagged his tail every time. He has met other dogs and people on leash and was nothing more than mildly interested. Today marks one week and he has learned so much. He is so calm and chill all day. Loves to run and roll outside but also doesn’t want to be more than a few feet away from us. He’s learning to trust people and his environment. He just loves his people.

Update: Jett found an amazing foster home and he's doing great! While Jett does well in a daycare situation, he guards his hoomans and will not tolerate another dog in the home.

Jett is a (almost) 7 year old, male weimaraner that is the definition of "loyal companion"! He will be at your side always! Jett and his sister Teagan are in rescue due to a change in accommodations and their family is unable to have them at their current location. Jett & Teagen have been staying with friends on their farm and spend most of their time outdoors. Jett & Teagen will be adopted separately.

Jett is good with kids of all ages - but definitely not cats. Although Jett has been with his sister, we feel he would do best as an only dog. He loves to ride in the car and really loves water! The boy can swim! His family told us that he loves run and play but also loves to just hang out with his people. He stays close by always!

Jett needs a home w/o cats.

Does Jett sound like he's a fit for you? Complete an application on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org and one of our volunteers will contact you!

Update from Teagan's foster mom: Teagan is a very sweet girl that has settled in very quickly and is doing great with her foster brothers. She rarely barks, sleeps through the night on her dog bed in the bedroom, and learned the dog-door in just a few minutes. With a good walk each day, she's ready to settle in for a long nap and even goes in her crate just to hang out. She's going to make someone an amazing companion.

Teagan is a (almost) 7 year old, female Weimaraner that loves to give kisses and cuddle. Teagan and her brother, Jett are in rescue due to a change in accommodations and their family is unable to have them at their current location. Teagan & Jett were staying with friends on their farm and spend most of their time outdoors. Teagan & Jett will be adopted separately.

Teagan is good with kids of all ages and submissive male dogs (no female dogs)- but definitely not cats. She loves to give kisses and to be loved on! She loves to ride in the car and really loves water and swimming!! Don't let her age fool ya, she is active and would do great as an exercise companion!

We are THRILLED to let you know that Jett has busted out of daycare. We are forever grateful to Jeff Hahn, and the staff of Camp Bow Wow - Duluth Georgia for letting Jett hang out while he waited for a foster home. Now, he'll have a chance to decompress and we can get to know more about his personality. Thanks to Jenna Sobh and her beautiful family for giving Jett a chance to be all he can be!

Update from Nova's foster family: Nova is a typical very sweet, lovable puppy with tons of puppy energy. She sleeps well in her crate overnight and asks to go outside to pottie. She has learned her surroundings very quickly and she is very clever. She is intensely food motivated...

This adorable little 5 mos old girl with a natural tail was surrendered to rescue because her family could not manage 2 puppies. Nova and her litter mate were adopted by a family from a breeder who was giving them away. Unfortunately, the family did not realize at the time that Nova could not see. On 6-18-24, Nova visited the vet and it was determined that Nova was born blind. She can see some shadows and can differentiate day and night. Nova is currently in a fantastic foster home. She is crate trained and learned to ring the door bells to go out to pottie in one day. She is a very sweet, loving, energetic typical puppy. Nova weighed in at 34 lbs at the vet visit and we believe that she will most likely be a very small "pocket" Weim. With proper introduction, Nova could do well with another dog to guide her through life.

We have a very handsome weim in house who is waiting to meet his forever family!
Jett is 7 years old and lived most of his life with a female weim. While he tolerates dogs at Camp, he would do best with humans only in home. Or a house with a calm, older dog. He is not a fan of cats and cannot live with any.

If you are interested in Jett or have any questions, please contact us or visit his rescue's website: www.atlantalovesweims.org

We will post Jett everyday until someone steps up and gives Jett a chance to know love....

Update: Jett needs a foster home with no other dogs NOW. While Jett does well in a daycare situation, he guards his hoomans and will not tolerate another dog in the home. He is struggling in boarding because of the constant stimulation. We are praying that Jett finds a foster home/adoptive home very soon. His situation is not the best for his well being.
