“This Emmy is for all dogs everywhere, you’re a good boy, you’re a good girl, and you all deserve a treat” - John Oliver in his Emmy’s acceptance speech
Meet Diana, who has become super close with PAWS NY client Laura and her pup Parker.
“I love Laura! We met and we had an instant connection. Laura and I now see each other most days. She helps me; she’s going to teach me embroidery. I lost my mother a few years ago and I value Laura so much. She fills a void in my life. Now they are really part of my family.”
Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers for helping PAWS NY make such an impact here in NYC and shoutout to @simonsits for making this great video. You’re all rockstars!

When people find themselves in difficult circumstances – whether that be with their health, finances, or more – they are unfortunately often forced to give up their dogs. That's why our founder Rachel Herman created PAWS NY in 2008 - to help New York City's most vulnerable residents remain with their pets.
Nearly 15 years later, we are bigger than we've ever been. Our core initiative is our Housecall Program, where volunteers go into the home and provide daily assistance on tasks such as walking the dog, cleaning a litterbox, grooming, and more. There's our Veterinary Care program, which arranges and pays for the visit and any transport necessary – whether it's a house call or on-site at a clinic. We have a Pet Pantry sponsorship program, where we give out free pet food and supplies every month. And we've recently launched our Substance Use Recovery Program, where PAWS volunteers step up to foster someone's pet if they have a medical crisis and/or choose to enroll in a recovery program.
