I know it's been awhile since we've posted on FB, but I wanted to let our fans know that we had to let our Muse Raven go to Heaven. It's been a tough road, but she is in a better place.

Get Moving! in your "Yip of the Day":

Not only will daily exercise keep your pet physically fit by burning calories and increasing muscle mass and cardiovascular strength. But mentally healthy as well, by helping channel aggressive and destructive behavior.

A walking tip in your "Yip of the Day" courtesy of the ASPCA:

So Nice to Meet You!
It’s great that your friendly pooch loves meeting people during walks—but not so great that she jumps up on them. “The basic idea is to teach your dog how to sit on cue and then require her to sit to interact with people,” says Kristen Collins, CDPT. “No sitting, no greeting. But if she sits, she gets to enjoy the reward of greeting her friends.” It doesn’t hurt to reward the dog with a treat—or ask the person whom she’s greeting to offer a treat.

Hmmm, did you know? from the ASPCA, in your "Yip of the Day":

Head halters and no-pull harnesses can decrease pulling without any additional training. They are effective tools, making walks more pleasant for you and your dog, so some people decide not to train at all. Just keep in mind that if you choose to use them without training, they won’t have any effect on pulling when your dog is not wearing the equipment. Dogs learn very specifically. If they learn not to pull while wearing a head halter, they won’t automatically know not to pull when they’re wearing something else, like a flat collar.

Smart travel tip from the ASPCA in your "Yip of the Day":

Make sure your pet has a microchip for identification and wears a collar with a tag imprinted with your home address, as well as a temporary travel tag with your cell phone, destination phone number and any other relevant contact information. Canines should wear flat (never choke!) collars, please.

A 'tall tail' in your "Yip of the Day" courtesy of the ASPCA:

When your dog is alert or aroused about something, he’ll probably hold his tail higher than normal. He’ll hold it stiff, without any movement. If he’s standing his ground or threatening someone (a person or another animal), he may “flag” his tail, which means he holds it stiff and high and moves it rigidly back and forth. It might look like he’s wagging his tail, but everything else about his body tells you that he’s not feeling friendly at the moment.

Think Social Opportunities in your "Yip of the Day":

Just like people, dogs are social animals, and many enjoy spending time with members of their own species. Off-leash play with other dogs serves multiple purposes. It can give your dog opportunities to practice her social skills with other dogs, wear her out mentally and tire her physically. If your dog enjoys romping with dog buddies, give her regular opportunities to do so. Try taking her to a local dog park or doggie daycare. If you have friends or family with dogs, you can also arrange “play dates” at your respective houses.

A "Yip" as we come into the holiday food season. Thank you ASPCA:

Large amounts of salt can produce excessive thirst and urination, or even sodium ion poisoning in pets. Signs that your pet may have eaten too many salty foods include vomiting, diarrhea, depression, tremors, elevated body temperature, seizures and even death. In other words, keep those salty chips (and other foods) to yourself!
