YIKES!!! Parrots have been in the pet trade since the late 1400's.
Nobody (pet owners, breeders, rescue, sanctuary...) are exempt from these laws. Federal permits are expensive and to qualify is even more expensive (more money to the government). Maybe the government wants the animal folks to pay off the US deficit???? More birds will be added soon. BTW, the ESA list includes many other animals and plants too.
The ESA is not good for aviculture and not good for birds.
