Ferb arrived yesterday from Yuma and was in pretty terrible shape to be honest, but we appreciate Popi Mary taking him home for a few days to monitor! He had been battling an upper respiratory infection for over 2 weeks and was not improving with meds. Based on the x-rays there were concerns that he might have lung cancer so time was truly of the essence to determine if we stay the course with an antibiotic change and treat for pneumonia or change the treatment plan. As a result we went to the ER to figure out next steps for him. He was diagnosed with a severe case of bacterial pneumonia as we were expecting. Thankfully the Valley Fever test came back negative and with better quality x-rays reviewed by a specialist they did not believe it to be cancer. SO we are going to continue to fight as long as Ferb is willing and we will see if he can rally. At this time he is hardly drinking and eating so the next 48 hours will be critical for him but he deserves the chance. Any additional donations would be appreciated! So far we have raised $625 for Ferb thanks to donors and a grant from Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911)

We will be doing adoption meet and greets at the PetSmart at Oracle and Wetmore on Saturday (8/17) from 10:30 to 2:00. We have a large group of really great dogs so come on by and see us!!!

3 more welcomes!!

First up is one eyed Willie who was found stray in Eloy and needed a place to crash since the shelter there is WAY over capacity. We are hoping someone is looking but doesn't seem so. We appreciate Summer Holling keeping him safe until we could get him

We also welcomed Rose and Ferb from Yuma. Rose has not known much kindness in her life so her fosters will help her learn people are not all bad and Ferb is very sick and spending the day at VSCOT hoping for some answers.

Dynamic Duo!! Ziggy and Loofa!! 💞

Twice the happiness, twice the tail wags, twice the amount of cuddles! 💕
🍂🍃That’s what you could have a lifetime supply of if Ziggy and Loofa joined your family.
This duo came to us after being at risk after being taken from a home that gave them zero lovin’ or socializing. Luckily, these two have been in the rescue for about 3-4 months now and are working hard with their foster to come out of their shells and show off those personalities!
💗These two show no signs of aggression or odd behaviors- they are simply learning to trust what love is, so in the mean time they are a little scared and take some time to warm up to new friendly faces.
🏝️Their ideal home is a quieter one with someone who is patient and wants to provide them love and ongoing training to perfect their crafts! They are currently doing good with the potty routine, don’t mind a crate or play pen, and love to play and cuddle with each other and other pups! They would enjoy having a home with a yard as they are still working on being leash trained!
😻Although they act like scaredy cats they are learning that they LOVE attention! They also LOVE each other so they are also looking for a forever home that will always have two beds, two bowls, and two times the loving.. even if they end up sharing the same bed or lap!
🏡Ziggy and Loofa would be the perfect addition to balance out a family! Ziggy is a boy and Loofa is a girl and are both about 2.5 years old and 8lbs, so they are the perfect pair for a cozy home!

A couple more celebrations to share!

Sweet Sunshine got adopted! He was one of our older gentleman and we were so happy when this kind lady inquired about him. Due to his poor eyesight it required some safety precautions for her house and she was willing to make them because she really wanted to provide him a home 🏠

We also will be saying happy tails to Ollie from Nogales. This family met him and decided he is just what they were looking for. He's even going to get to go to work sometimes with dad at their hospice facility.

3 welcomes from today!

First up are Dodger and Danitza who came to us from SCACC (Nogales AZ) shelter. They were surrendered and due to the shelter being so over capacity they were at significant risk of being euthanized today. Even though our fosters are very full also they could not let that be the outcome for these sweet pups so they said "yes". We appreciate Niche Grey House busting them out first thing this morning (and we know it was a "fragrant" trip)!!

We also welcomed "Frosty" from Friends of the Animals in the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter. He was adopted back in July but sadly when they found out he was a bit older than they originally thought they returned him to the shelter and there he sat with no interest or hope. He was able to catch a ride with the friend of one of our fosters who was there visiting and he is now heading to his foster home. We thank the Lamberts for stepping up again for him! We truly appreciate our village. Donations to their care would be very much appreciated as funds are low as we start to wind down summer!

Meet our fluff ball, Rugby!! 🏉

🥜 Rugby is our sweet little guy (only 7ish pounds)! He is known at his foster’s for giving great cuddles and sitting with his foster humans while watching the other pups play around.
Rugby prefers the sidelines likely due to his past. We aren’t sure what happened before he came to the rescue, but he did come in pretty beat up. This trauma caused some eyesight loss and facial wounds, but he looks more and more handsome every day as everything heals!
💛 Rugby is looking for a forever home that understands that he can be easily startled, so gentle good mornings and relaxing evening are important to him!
Rugby hasn’t let his past influence his wellbeing as he is known for being a friendly, sweet boy and is overall pretty healthy!
🌻 Rugby is only 5-6 years old, but due to his newer disabilities he would like a gentle life, but is good around other dogs! He doesn’t think children would be in his ideal family due to his smallness and disabilities- he doesn’t want to be overwhelmed! Rugby is mainly looking for a gentle soul or two to provide him with cozy lovin!

A couple of adoptions to kick off the week!

First up is Toby our little dynamo from AHS. His new parents were on vacation in Colorado and saw his picture and knew he was "the one". They reached back to the foster several times wanting to ensure that they were still in the running to adopt. The got home on Saturday and finished the process so they could get him right away

Meet our handsome gentleman, Seymour! 🌤️

💨 Seymour is as spirited as the monsoon winds and as independent as the desert nights! Like any desert creature of the night; Seymour spends most of his day sleeping, but is always ready to eat! Seymour isn’t a true wild desert man as he enjoys fellow pups, but likely doesn’t know what a cat is! He also likes to be carried around; which is don’t think mountain lions or javelinas can say the same.

☁️ Seymour has some hearing and sight impairments so luckily he is looking for his forever home rather than his forever cactus forest! Less pokey and more loving! Which is perfect because Seymour is a little shaken on his legs, but he still really enjoys wandering around his house! Likely due to his limited eye sight and hearing he doesn’t enjoy being confined to a crate or room, but luckily he is doing great with his potty routine at his foster’s! Likely due to his past he does have some marking habits, but belly bands (aka we**ie wraps) are a great and easy outfit choice for Seymour!

🏜️ Seymour is about 9-10 years old and seems to have lived a rough life prior to coming to the rescue so he would appreciate a retirement home that is filled with a calm family (big or small) where there is lots of love to give and receive but a gentleness towards providing that love!

🌈 Seymour would love to find a forever home before the monsoon season ends- he would love to find his cozy spots before fall comes around! If you and your family are interested in Seymour please submit an application!

Yesterday we welcomed "Mushu" from MCACC where he was on the e-list for treatable medical. We knew he had dental issues and last night he lost one of his canines when he sneezed 🥲 He seems to not be feeling too well and is not interested in food (yet). We are hoping to get him in today to the vet to get the ball rolling on his medical just to be sure there is nothing underlying that we need to be concerned about immediately. He is said to be a very sweet old man! As always donations toward his care are appreciated

A few adoptions from the weekend to celebrate.

First up is Morley (now Annie) who came to us from PACC. She moved up to the valley and is going to be so loved and spoiled. Her mom was thrilled to be chosen and said she is settling in beautifully.

We also said happy tails to Jack who had been with us for a few months. He is a high energy boy badly in need of some manners. He made progress with his foster family and his new dad was up for the challenge of continuing the work. He has training and breed experience so it was a great match.

Last but not least we sent sweet Chara off for an adoption trial to make sure she gets along with the resident kitties. She and her new mom really clicked and we feel confident about her being a good fit also.

We received a plea for these 2 from our friends in Yuma.

Rose is a dog who clearly needs some TLC. At a minimum she will require bloodwork to determine if there is an underlying reason for her body condition and will need to see a specialist for her mobility issues. She is said to be a very sweet girl and definitely deserves a 2nd chance and a home full of kindness.

Ferb has had an unresolving URI for at least a couple of weeks. He needs to get to Tucson so he can get the treatment he needs and will also need a dental once he is feeling better

We urgently want to pull both and have fosters lined up

Milton checking in to let everyone know he is starting to feel a little bit better and is kicking pneumonia's butt. He came to us 9 days ago from San Bernadino with a bad case of kennel cough. KC is very common in shelters but sometimes in dogs with low immune systems and especially in seniors it is hard for them to fight it on their own. He really did get out in the nick of time....we are glad we could provide a lifeline. Milton will keep getting healthier and hopes to be able to start his search for a forever home by the end of this month

Today we welcomed this cutie pie (Emily). Her mom had to go into hospice and her human grandpa leaves back to Germany on Sunday so she had no place to go! She is chonky but otherwise happy and healthy and ready for a new forever ❤️

💎Meet our beautiful gem, Gemma!

♥️Gemma is our sweet and gentle soul girl who always on the hunt for giving and receiving love!
Gemma is known at her fosters for being a sweet, patient girl who does her best to make sure her foster parent is comfortable!
🔹Gemma is a small pup, but a big jewel! She is about 7lbs and around 9 years old.
💓Her hobbies include giving love, giving kisses, receiving snuggles, and being cozy. She doesn’t mind snuggling on her own as she’s a pretty independent girl, but she also enjoys cuddle times with humans and 4 legged pals!
This means she would easily fit into so many homes!!
👑She would like to show off her leash skills on some walks here and there, her crate tolerance skills (for real, what’s one more cozy spot- no complaints here!), and her potty routine!
She likes to cuddle but is not demanding about

Today we welcomed little Esmay from AHS. She has a healing wound and her skin and eyes are certainly in need of some treatment but definitely not a reason for dying....and so deserving of some TLC. She sounds like a very sweet little lady and we will get her fixed up 💖

Many of you probably remember our little "Rugby" who came into rescue almost 6 weeks ago after he experienced some trauma that caused damage to his face and eyes. Since then he has been healing and getting healthier and even has started to romp and play! He was able to get his dental and neuter yesterday and is recovering....that was the last step on his journey to his forever home. He will likely need lifelong management of his eye condition but all in all we are very happy with his outcome and emotionally he seems to have rebounded with the love and TLC from his fosters

And another save from the clutches of death because a foster said "yes!". Handsome Jake made his freedom ride today and is decompressing and doing really well so far! We are so grateful to Susan Rose for giving him a place to crash and Jenny for busting him out!

3 more adoptions to celebrate including 2 of our Riverside California girls and our sweet little tripod Chewy

Raisin found her own parents and is going to be spoiled and loved like crazy. She is full of s***k and her foster family really enjoyed having her, and said they will miss her but they are happy for her and for them!

We also said happy tails to Swiggy. She entered the shelter around the 4th of July after she was found heat exhausted, barely able to walk and in distress. She improved daily during her time in the shelter but was still placed at risk for euthanasia due to overcrowding. We are SO happy she was saved and that we could give her a chance for a future!

And last but not least is Chewbacca who came back after his first family turned out to not be a fit for him....but we feel really confident we got it right this time! He will have so much fun with his dads and his new fur brother.

Sometimes rescue takes a slightly different form. We had considered pulling this girl from the shelter because her deadline was today but all of our fosters are insanely full. While we were strategizing how/where to squeeze in one more we got word that her finder in Rio Rico was considering going back to adopt her but that finances were a concern especially since there is a possibility that she could either be in the early stages of pregnancy or she is in heat. For Bella having a real home is ideal and for us being able to open up a foster slot to save another created a win win so we agreed to help! A dog saved is a dog saved!! We would love to raise about $200 to cover her spay, 4DX test, microchip, pain meds and a cone for her to go home with. If you would like to pitch in:

Sweet as a peach, little Miss Mary! 🍑

💜Mary is a 9-10 year old, 15lb little plum! She is as sweet as can be, making friends is her forte! Her dream is to find herself a forever home where she can have a loving bond with her human- her ride or die!
🫐Mary has many skills as she’s been working hard at perfecting them in order to be the perfect lady at her future forever home. She is leash and crate trained and doing extremely well at her foster’s with their potty routine! Mary has been able to build up these skills even after spending the first part of her stay in the rescue recovering from a dog attack that fortunately didn’t take her life, but did put her on the list to be euthanized until CT swooped in!
💛She doesn’t let that past attack hinder her love, she does very well with other dogs and is perfectly fine being a solo gal or having some siblings.
🎀Mary says the only thing picky about herself is her hair! She liked her cost groomed and up kept so she does very well at the dog salon!

We wanted to give a little update on sweet Charlie our stray boy with the HUGE pendulating mass. He had his surgery on Thursday. When he arrived home he was in good spirits. A couple of hours later he began bleeding profusely. His foster mom raced him to the closest ER Vet (SAVs) and they kept him overnight. Fortunately they were able to stop the bleeding and determined that he had a bad reaction to the anesthesia - as the surgical site and sutures were still intact. There is no way anyone could have anticipated the course of events and we are so happy that he came out of it OK and is free of the mass he was carrying for who knows how long! He is recovering well in his foster home with tons of TLC!

Today we saved this beautiful young boy from the Nogales shelter. They have been extremely full and he was running out of time. We appreciate the Bradley's for stepping up to foster and the Zammit's for giving him his freedom ride (along with 2 others for 2 different rescues) team work definitely makes the dream work!

Drum roll please!! After over 10 months back in the rescue Havoc (aka Bear) found his own home and own people!! His foster worked so hard to get ready for this day and we all share her pride in what a good boy he is and how brave he was! We appreciate his new people for giving him a home

A couple of adoptions to start the weekend!

The last of our pups from Rio Rico found his own home! Joe will get to play ball to his hearts content now with his new parents!

We also said happy tails to Pudding who was one of the seniors who came to us from a CA shelter. He moved to Green Valley and his new parents say he is the perfect fit for them and their pup is getting used to having a friend around. Thank you adopters!
