Sweet Ellie is a darling 6-7 month old female American Bobtail. (She has no tail at all!) She is VERY PETITE (only weighs about 5.5 lbs and is very tiny). She is the sweetest little girl. But she is very scared….she feels safest when she is being held and gently petted. She was brought to Ohio from Oregon as a little kitten with her owner and after a few months the owner left OHIO and left this little girl in a dark basement. She was left behind alone for over two months…as a baby. The neighbors knew she had been abandoned and tried to care for her when we stepped in to help.

She was so scared. Left alone in a basement by herself for weeks. When we rescued her she clung to us like a baby, terrified of what was happening to her next. She is gentle, and likes to be held and comforted. She is still very scared of everything and will need a gentle and understanding owner/family. She needs a gentle loving home to help her grow into the confident kitty she can be. Please consider adopting this poor girl that was found in her abandoned home crying for the owner that left her. She needs a home with a family that will love her forever and NEVER leave her again. Ryan is the SWEETEST cat ever! If you want a cuddler that LOVES people…a big teddy bear…Ryan is the one!

Poor Ryan. He is a big boy….but he has the heart of a teddy bear and didn’t do well out in the streets where he was abandoned! Ryan is a young boy who had been living in a neighborhood in the Gahanna area for months moving from home to home, sleeping in flower beds, on porches, under cars in driveways, anywhere to be near people. He wanted someone so bad…but was scared. He would come out and sit near the neighbors almost begging them to help him. But he had to be careful because it is dangerous for a sweet cat like Ryan to survive in a high traffic area, with dogs and other larger animals, and some people that could be a danger. He poked out when a neighbor came home…and went house to house getting food where he could when he could.

We heard about him…and with the help of one of the neighbors we trapped him and he is the sweetest boy! He is thin but is a big boy that will grow big and strong with good food and love. He LOVES LOVES LOVES people. When he is picked up he kneads and climbs up to lean over your shoulder. HE loves to have his big cheeks rubbed…and lifts his head to have his chin scratched. This boy is a people person and will be the love of someone’s life! He is sooo sweet!

If you think that you can give Ryan a home where he will be loved for the rest of his life…where he will never have to live on the streets, hiding, wondering if he’ll have something to eat, or a safe place to sleep for the night, please complete and adoption application https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044

UPDATE: Jaclyn has been Adopted! (Watch for updates on her new life!

Jacqui is the cutest little girl ever! (Look at her face!!!) She’s a young girl (@2 years old) that was found dropped off in the country. She found a house and made the porch of that house her home. Looking into the windie whenever she could…longing to be inside but so scared. This went in for weeks and finally the rescuer decided that this sweet girl was determined to get herself adopted a loved.

So her rescuer got her to go into a carrier with some food and took her to the vet. Everyone loved her (look at that FACE!!!!). She was tested, spayed and vet checked….and she was perfect!!

She is the sweetest girl. She is scared, after having to live outside and fend for herself through the winter. But she loves people and really wants to be near them to snuggle. She is being housed in a foster home in a cage as she waits for a home whete someone will love her. She is happiest laying right next to you on a couch. Is doing well with other friendly cats and s gentle dog in the house. She’s just so thankful to be in a home again.

But she’d love to have a home and a person that she could call her own. She is still a litlle afraid of new people (she seems afraid that they will hurt her) but gently warms up once she knows you my hurt her. We don’t know what this beautiful little girl has been through…but we’d love to find her a home where she will be loved and never have to be afraid again. Could that home be yours? If you’d like to give Jacqui a forever home please complete an on-line application at https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044)

Jake (FIV+) found a new Mom and a new family!!! Anna connected with this poor boy who needed someone to love him after being abandoned in the country and injured badly. When we found out he had FIV we worried he would never be chosen….but Anna knew they were meant to be together! She drove from Kentucky to bring him home…..and Jake (now Jack) feels like the luckiest boy in the world! Thank you Anna for choosing Jack when most would overlook him! Welcome to your new home and family Jack!!!

ADOPTED!!!!!!

Meet Jake (FIV+)

Jake is the sweetest boy ever! He was found in the country begging at the door of the only home in the area…freezing, covered in frozen snow, barely able to stand. He wouldn’t have made it much longer when the rescuer opened the door and scooped him up, he could barely hold his head up but he immediately started to purr. He went right to the vet. His leg was badly injured (he must have been hit by a car)….he was starving, his leg was broken, he had been dumped in the country…but he kept purring whenever someone talked to him or touched him or showed him a bit of attention. Everyone just adored Jake when they met him…he had surgery, was neutered….and then we got the news we did not want to hear: Jake WAS FIV+

This broke our hearts. Not because he can’t live a long life with this deadly feline only immunosuppressive disease…but because his chance to be picked….to be chosen…to have a family and a home of his own where he can be loved and purr knowing he was finally home are so less likely since he is labeled as FIV+.

How could the sweetest cat, the boy who loves every person he meets, every dog, every cat is a friend to Jake….every lap is the place he wants to be..
How can this boy now going to have to live in a cage in a foster home…because he has FIV.

If you can open your heart and can make a commitment to the sweetest kitty you will ever meet, won’t you PLEASE consider Jake? Yes, you will need to keep him in a stress fee home (not a lot of new pets coming and going). He will need annual vet checks and bloodwork to head off any start of illness that may be able to be treated before it leads to the FIV becoming full blown. And while he should not be in a home with other cats where there is the potential to fight (biting is the way FIV is passed among cats) he can live with another healthy indoor only kitty or two provided that they all are comfortable with each other and introduced slowly to reduce stress or any chance of serious fighting.

If you want to give this sweet loving boy whose had a very hard start in life….please complete an on-line application at https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044

UPDATE: Sweet Greyson is at the vet. He became lethargic and refused food last night. Please say a prayer that we can help this sweet boy who just wanted to be indoors with people snd he was finally rescued…only to find out he is FIV+.

The story of Greyson. Greyson had been living in a neighborhood for almost two years. He visited the neighbors (who fed him and gave him a pet when he stopped by) and slept in the flower boxes and under decks of the homes of the neighbors. He wanted to go inside but no one took him in. He had been trapped once before when we tried to get him neutered and off the streets. He escaped the trap and it took a lot of effort, a lot of patience and over a year to finally trap him again. He walked right into the cage limping as if asking is for help.

Unfortunately he did need help. After he was checked for a chip, examined and entered, we ran some blood work…since he was so quiet. He was purring and cuddling with everyone at the vet….but he seemed a little tired. His blood work told us why: His red and white blood counts were low and he tested positive for FIV. Our hearts broke.

The cat who the neighborhood loved….and that LOVED everyone had a nontreatable disease that was already manifesting in symptoms that are not hopeful. He is currently being foster…so happy to be inside with people. He puts all of the time and crawls into the lap of anyone that goes into his room to visit him. We are doing everything we can to give this boy a chance at life…and to make whatever life he has left the best life he can have.

UPDATE: we had an outpouring of love for Bob and a few amazing families that opened their homes to him. Bob will be going to his forever home this week!!! Watch for updates!

HELP Bob!!!!
Bob is a large very sweet and friendly Manx cat with the traditional “bobbed” tail. He is the SWEETEST cat ever. He LOVES everyone (even young children) and has the personality of a dog in a cat’s body! He even loves to be around other cats. He was dumped or abandoned by someone and has been begging neighbors to let him in. He sits outside their doors looking in…runs to them hoping they’ll let him in. He sits outside in the rain looking in…..crying. He just wants someone to love him again! The neighbors all love him and asked us to help find him a home. If you want a loving big beautiful Manx boy….Bob would be the perfect boy.

UPDATE: Sweet Bob was diagnosed with FIV. But please don’t let this keep you from adopting him. He can live a normal lifespan (we have had many FIV+ cats that have lived to be 11-16!) He deserves to be loved and to have someone love him. He should be an only cat (or in a home with another cat that is not aggressive —FIV is primarily transferred through bites and is not passed from cat to cat through living together or casual contact.)

If you are interested in adopting Bob please complete an on-line adoption application at https://form.jotform.com/223107373504044

The Columbus Homeless Pet Project

We are volunteers that come together to help homeless pets when they need us. Sometimes it is a turtle stuck on a road, a litter of kittens that have fallen down a drainage pipe, a dog left behind when his owners moved away, or a community trying to help the feral cats in their neighborhood. Together we do what we can by volunteering our time and using our own funds to help these pets have a birghter future. Helping pets on a project by project basis. That is what we do.
