Our friend Pumba needs some help!

We just had our update from the surgeon, Pumba has not been feeling as well today😔. He doesn’t want to eat. So we are not feeling so great, but praying hard ❤️🙏🏻🐖
Unfortunately, our fundraising for their veterinary costs, it isn’t doing very well today either😔.
We are at $3700/ $10,000. We are so grateful for the donations but need to go so much farther.
We care for the folks, completely on volunteer love! Every single cent that you donate goes directly to the folks. Marco works at his job to supplement us a lot. And I volunteer 24/7 with the folks. We cannot do this on our own!
Please consider helping us, and easing a huge amount of stress ❤️🐖🙏🏻
Donations gratefully received through etransfer and PayPal at [email protected]
Please include your contact info in the notes so we can thank you, and include you in the draw for our beautiful Dara blanket!❤️🙏🏻🐖

Dear Sanctuary Management,

Where is all the Spring grass?? I have specifically asked you to make it Spring several times by screaming at the Winter sky, and yet here I am, searching. How hard can it be to change the season? What are you people doing?

Sincerely,
Laura
.....

Dear Laura,

🤦‍♀️

Don't worry, we have a folder of all your season-based complaints but are waiting for a call-back from Mother Nature, she's very difficult to get ahold of. We will add this to the file!

Sincerely,
Sanctuary Management

hi mom

It’s a new year, and a perfect time to welcome some new volunteers to Dara!
To be a volunteer at Dara, you not only help us to get the daily chores completed, you are integral in creating a loving home for the folks that call Dara home.
The work can be heavy, but we are all in this together, to help each other out. The work is often the same, cleaning up the folks rooms in the barn during the winter, ensuring their blankets are ok, dirty straw is removed and new straw is brought in, clean water, and of course visiting with the folks who will always be coming around to check things out and say hi. The months that the folks live outside in their cottages, it is a nicer pace, cleaning their areas, the yard, the horse and goat houses, ensuring fresh straw in their cottages, fresh drinking water and the pools are full of water to cool off.
Having some more people around will help us get to all the other jobs around the sanctuary as well!🥳🥳.
It is a great opportunity to meet other similar minded people. We love that the volunteers have created great friendships during their time at Dara!
We are looking for weekly volunteers, which means you will commit to one day a week from 10-1 or 12-3.
If you cannot commit to weekly times, we are also looking for people who can commit to 2 days a month.
And if you, along with a friend, a group,
Etc. would like to volunteer on either a Saturday or Sunday from 10-1, we can arrange that as well to get some bigger jobs done.
If there is someone that enjoys maintenance type jobs(fixing, building, etc), Marco would love to have someone help him out on Saturday or Sunday once a month.
There is just way to much going on at Dara for us to do it in our own. And we are sure the present volunteers would love to have more help to share the work. For Dara to be a healthy home for the folks, and Marco and I, we need a committed community.
So if you are interested, please email us at [email protected], and we can arrange a visit, for you to come and meet the folks, and Marco and I.
Our dream, is for Dara to become home for more than the folks that live here, but a safe place for people to work hard, and receive joy from those they share time with.
Thank you so much for your time! We look forward to hearing from you❤️🐖🙏🏻

Richard and Poppy can't decide on plans for the weekend. Since moving to Bunnytown and becoming head of the flock, Richard has a very busy schedule.

CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Sarah Dodd for winning "Chicken Vet of the Year"!

Dr. Dodd helps so many Ontario sanctuary residents, from the smallest of chickens to our largest cow friends. She does so much and we are happy to see her getting this well-deserved recognition for her support for our feathered friends!

We are pleased to announce the Chicken Vet of the Year Award winners! Congratulations Dr. Rebecca Gounaris from Pleasantville Animal Hospital of Fallston and Dr. Sarah Dodd from Dodd Veterinary Services (we couldn't find your FB page to tag you)!
You both received the same number of nominations and won by a landslide, so we decided to have two winners this year! We will be sending out physical awards for you to display in your offices as well! ❤️🙂
There were MANY fabulous vets who received nominations and we are going to do something special to highlight each of them/you in the coming weeks-months.
Thank you everybody who participated in our contest this year! It was compelling to read about your experiences and reasons why you appreciate your veterinarian ❤️

We're all rooting for you, Sophia! See below for how you can help.

Sophia Update!
Yesterday, we were given very sad news that Sophia was declining. Her white blood cell count as well as liver enzymes were very high. This can be a sign of infection but also liver disease. After repeat bloodwork, Sophia's ammonia levels were also increased which presented as neurological issues. We have GOOD NEWS though, after being treated with an antimicrobial and lactulose, her ammonia levels have decreased & she is regulating her glucose levels on her own.
Sophia is back to a stable condition but is being monitored around the clock.
Please continue to keep Sophia in your thoughts, it's working!

Donations towards Sophia's treatment can be made via PayPal or E-Transfer to
[email protected]

Thank you!

Someone call the authorities! 😆 (We're kidding, of course)

Someone call the authorities! 😆 (We're kidding, of course)

Dear Sanctuary Management,

Even though we were ALLEGEDLY caught red-hooved digging holes all over the property, holes that volunteers often roll ankles in, we can't believe we've been very briefly imprisoned in this very large vegetable garden! IF we liked digging pig holes, and we're not saying we do, we don't want to do it where we are ALLOWED. We would want to do it where it annoys Farmer John the MOST. Also we weren't given nearly enough squashes and pumpkins, this is a piggy-rights violation!

Sincerely,
Bert, Ernie and Bud (who was too busy eating squash to help write this letter)

Dear Piggers,

🤦‍♀️

We're so sorry you were briefly unable to destroy the entire property with your noses - allegedly - and forced to snack on pumpkins. It's a hard life at TAMS for you, I imagine you were still angry when you were tucked in under your blankets at bedtime. I'll happily talk to the piggy-rights coalition and we'll keep your complaint on file.

Sincerely,
Sanctuary Management

Dear Sanctuary Management,

I thought I was clear last year that I did not want winter or cold weather coming and that you were to stop that happening again. I can't help but notice a chill in the air making me think you failed to make permanent summer. How many times must I scream at Mother Nature for you to change these dang seasons?!

Sincerely,
Laura

Dear Laura,

🤦‍♀️

We greatly appreciate you thinking that we are powerful enough to change the weather, however this is not a manageable item in our lengthy to-do list. All we can do is make the barn as cozy as possible for you, and all wait patiently for Spring to come back around.

Sincerely,
Sanctuary Management

UPDATE:
WOW, you folks have blown us away. Thank you for showing so much love for Wilbur. There are a few possibilities in the works, and I’m sure Wilbur will have his happily ever after. It truly takes a village friends. You shared this post all over the place. Over 100 shares in a few hours. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Urgent Home needed!
Hello friends, we are still searching fir a forever home fir this sweet guy! Wilbur is living on a property by himself, his family have already moved. We are going to go and pick him up on Thursday, because we hate the thought of him on his own. It would be great if we had a forever home come forward that we could bring him to on Thursday. Otherwise, he will come to Dara, until we can find his forever home.
We are just full! We would love to welcome him, but there is I my so much room. If you can give Wilbur an amazing forever home, we would be grateful, and he deserves it❤️🙏🏻. Winter is coming, let’s get him home
safely!❤️🙏🏻🐖
Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to be considered as Wilbur’s forever home!
