Flea epidemic 2023.

Please ensure you check you're pet . Shop bought products are ineffective , a veterinary prescription is needed. Pets also become at risk when fleas become immune to certain products . In this area anything with fibronil does not work which includes front line. Write down dates to ensure you treat regularly or sign up to healthy pet plan with your vet .

Nationally, Rentokil Pest Control has said that flea infestations have increased by 47 per cent in a year, according to recent data , and the experts believe the unusual weather in 2023 could be the reason.

The country saw its warmest June since 1884 followed by above average rainfall in July, making this provisionally the wettest July since 2009.

Just a heads up if no one has heard about this as the person doing this might change area.

In a statement, the vet surgery said: “Over the past week we have had a few dogs showing signs of illegal/recreational drug use following a walk along the Riverside in Low Coniscliff.

“Please take care and seek veterinary attention if your dog becomes unwell after walking in this area.”

The warning from vets comes days after three dogs were admitted to the vet with cannabis poisoning by a dog walking service in Darlington.

According to the dog walking service in the town, two dogs were taken to the vet, while a third was admitted with suspected poisoning.

In an update, Darlington-based Bedell Dog Walkers said: “Just a heads up to any dog ​​owners out there, we have been alerted that two dogs have been admitted to the vet with cannabis poisoning, a third Raised in Low Concliffe with. Dog admitted with suspected cannabis poisoning. Please keep an eye out for dogs consuming anything they shouldn’t be eating.”

Thankfully, all three dogs are fine, two are recovering and one is spending the night at the vet.

Added update: “They have said it is River Way at the end of Wood Lane behind Gate Lane. Two dogs are recovering at home and one has been at the vet overnight.”
