Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. - LPAC LPAC is dedicated to “at-risk” homeless felines. Please spay & neuter! www.petfriendlyplate.org Welcome to LPAC. I have rescued animals since 2002.
(12)

My name is Teresa Fee; Founder and Executive Director of Loving Paws Animal Center - LPAC. I have always loved animals since young, especially, those who are ill, injured, special needs (CH) and/or of senior age.

LPAC is a No-Kill 501(c)3 Nonprofit Animal Rescue Group located in Battle Ground, Indiana dedicated to homeless at-risk feral/stray kitties that are sick, injured, special needs and/or

motherless kittens. We take pride in transforming kitties of all ages that have suffered unnecessary neglect.

At LPAC, our focus is to provide top-notch medical attention & rehabilitation in a loving, respectful and attentive family environment. We offer both temporary & lifelong programs to kitties in need, as space is available. LPAC proudly offers TNR services to areas lacking assistance. TNR services are only offered when funds are available. Trap Neuter Return is the most humane choice to help decrease the overpopulation of unwanted litters. TNR kitties that are happier & best suited in their outside elements, are always released back to their colony/property within 72 hours of their spay/neuter surgery; unless, further recovery time is needed. We do not recommend relocation of feral cats, unless they are in an unsafe environment (relocation will be determined at time of assessment). All colonies require a dedicated caretaker. Spaying and neutering your family pets is a great way to help reduce the overpopulation of animals. Not only will it help with behaviors in cats & dogs, as well as their need to mark their territory; they live happier, healthier lives. Altered animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases too. Therefore, the spread of these diseases decreases. Approximately, 2.7 million animals are euthanized a year. Spayed/Neutered animals will help decrease the number of animals that are killed. It costs more to care for a litter of kittens or puppies, than it would to have them fixed. One female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in a 6 year period. While a cat and her offspring can produce a large amount of 370,000 in seven years. These numbers are outrageous and growing. It's time to help make a difference in the lives of our family pets and our community of homeless furry friends.

Today my sister & I brought lots of food out to the hoarding cats, gave them can snackies, filled all their bowls with dry kibble & fresh water and of course, gave them loven’s. A few of them were started on an antibiotic too. Thank you Animal Advocates of Greater Lafayette for the kind donation to get them more food😻

I love this boy so much. Graedin was unsure of me when I first started going to the hoarding property. Now he gets excited when I pull up, wants all my attention and has every intension of jumping in the van to leave with me. I wish I could bring him home, but ideally, I’d like to find him a loving, indoor home with one or two of the other sweet boys on the property. Maybe I could come visit? 🤷‍♀️😻 🤣 They all deserve so much better ❤️

Jeeya (aka Yolanda Sparkle Kitty). She was a last minute save, as no one tagged her from being euthanized at IACS. I’m so glad I did 😻 We are making friends 🥰 I loved her the moment I let her out of the cardboard box carrier she traveled in, as I watched her fearfully scaling the walls. I love her even more, seeing her slowly blossom as I gain her trust. She’s purrfect ❤️
Watch her make little biscuits and her attempt to do “what I call” a passion roll, before changing her mind.

4 years ago our Outreach Coordinator posted this. This post can give new followers/supporters since 2020 a little insight on who I am (Teresa). I remember this moment - I felt paralyzed by the immense worry, of losing something that I worked so hard on creating. I worked hard on making successful. I’ve always worked hard to save the lives that needed me (us) most.
Keep this post and Krystal’s words in mind… as you await a new post coming soon.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/CvV6SZMXWfw6EYhm/?

Hello all,

This is Krystal Johnston, Outreach Coordinator for Loving Paws Animal Center. Yesterday, I was incredibly shaken when Teresa Fee, founder of LPAC, informed all board members that she may SHUT DOWN THE RESCUE by the end of 2020. Teresa made it very clear that a MIRACLE is needed to wipe out LPAC’s existing debt, collect supplies and donations, and facilitate adoptions ASAP!!

Let me tell you a bit about Teresa, if you don’t already know her. She is a loving, dedicated, and compassionate human being. Teresa has helped animals in need for over 18 years (and helped individuals and families in need for 25 years). While she can sometimes seem a bit bold, often quiet, or maybe even rude - there are reasons behind that. Can you IMAGINE the things she’s seen, heard, and felt while trying to help these homeless animals? Teresa has lost count of the lives she has saved. Multiple counties throughout the state of Indiana depend on her. She has also saved kitties from other states (that were initially denied services for one reason or another) and shown them the same love and compassion that she shows to our local animals. Teresa is the true definition of AN ANGEL to animals in need and is the MOST AMAZING cat whisperer to feral and under-socialized kitties of all ages!

Have you read some of the posts on this page and felt the emotions swirling behind them? Have you looked beyond the photos to see the contentment, love, and physical changes demonstrated in the rescued animals? Have you watched the videos, and seen the interactions between Teresa and the cats? All came to her as feral, sick or injured (some near death), orphaned, or neglected.

Did you know that 95% of LPAC animals are fearful of humans? It takes HUGE amounts of time, emotional investment, and in some cases, human physical scars to socialize these animals and provide the proper medical and routine care. Other area shelters/rescues (both locally and in various counties) recommend that Teresa help these animals, because she is UNIQUELY qualified to do so.

Can you imagine if she were to shut down LPAC?

If forced to close, a staggering number of animals WILL SUFFER without her unmatched dedication and experience, and Teresa will lose a huge part of who she is. Without LPAC, homeless kittens and cats WILL BE DENIED services and have NOWHERE to go, because other facilities are not interested in providing this level of care. Already, Teresa has had to refuse new intakes due to the financial hardship LPAC is experiencing due to the coronavirus. Almost all spring fundraising events were cancelled. LPAC continues to be hampered by coronavirus restrictions and traditional in-person fundraising events are not feasible with the ongoing pandemic. Donations have plummeted. I get it – there’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now. There’s a lot to be upset about. But during this kind of unrest, it can be helpful to focus on what is important. What do YOU believe in? What do YOU want to support? What cause can make you FEEL GOOD, if even for a moment?

Teresa has PLANS for LPAC – for one, she wants to obtain a public building for the rescue. There are many other plans for expansion of services, but now…everything is on hold, and LPAC is just struggling to hang on. It would be an absolute TRAGEDY if coronavirus derails LPAC.

So, what do we do? Please donate if you can (Paypal.me/funds4rescues). If you can’t, share this post, create a personal Facebook fundraiser for LPAC, or refer friends and family to adopt. If you’re a supporter and you have an idea for a virtual fundraiser, or if you are part of a business and would like to discuss support for LPAC, please contact me directly at [email protected].

I BELIEVE in this organization, and the GOOD that LPAC puts out into the world, and I’ll bet that you do too. Thanks for your time.

Be well,
Krystal

Today I visited the hoarding kitties. It’s been a little while since I’ve stopped by. I had to bring more food and wanted to be sure they were all doing okay. As soon as I pulled up, I saw a kitten and my heart sank. I can only assume his momma had him out in the woods and eventually brought him to the house. Once I got out of the van, I noticed the big cats were chasing him around. I didn’t want to leave him there to live that life, so he came home with me. I gave him a flea bath and got him set up in a cage. He’s scared, but ate well and settling in. He will be playing & enjoying love’ns soon enough. First few pics are of him… then some of the other cuties on the property! I’m hoping to have the remaining cats tnr’d by end of August. I’m estimating there to be 12-15 more, not including the 4 camper kittens we still need to remove.

Aahna is back with me. Her vet & I decided that it would be in her best interest, to be separated from the other four IACS kitties. She is in a completely different area. This will give her the opportunity to rest, heal and not have to compete for food. She is not thrilled about being caged, but hopefully she’ll settle in soon.

Please continue keeping her & the others in your thoughts, as they recover from their illnesses, wounds, dermatitis, and put on much needed weight. If you are able to send a helpful gift from their Amazon wishlist, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please keep Aahna (Lady Spacecat) from IACS hoarding case, in your thoughts. She is declining and her condition is guarded. She is being hospitalized and we hope to have answers by the end of the week. We do know that she has some ulcers in her mouth, but overall she is in grave condition. As of this morning, she had a respiratory PCR done, so now we wait for results. I will update as I know more, but for now… she needs all her biggest fans rooting for her, sending her oodles of strength & healing vibes.

These pics are of her wrapped in a towel at the vet this morning. I had no problem getting her in a carrier, she was very calm for her exam and they carried her to the back with no issues. This poor girl is very unwell, it’s heartbreaking.

I know we have been constant asking for support, but someone has to fight for these cats that we lovingly extend our arms to. Please consider… she’s worth every penny to make fighting for her possible.

Our 5 IACS hoarding cats went to the vet today. Imagine the cost of just one x5… plus!

Jaivin (aka Mr Mister) received a convenia injection. He also had a respiratory PCR to check for any contagious viruses (even though he’s pretty healthy). Hoping to have results the end of the week. His large wound is suspected of being a urine burn. He has mild gingivitis and flea dermatitis. I gave him a dose of dewormer & flea treatment before letting him out of the carrier. He will need to be neutered, vaccinated & combo rested soon and later a dental cleaning.

Zian (aka Sheriff Twinkle Toes) received a convenia injection & in-house flea treatment. He has flea dermatitis & some bad teeth. I gave him a dose of dewormer before letting him out of the carrier. He will need to be neutered & vaccines soon and later a dental cleaning likely with extractions.

Vaia (aka Raya the Cat) received a convenia injection. She has flea dermatitis and an abnormally feeling abdomen. Her belly is a bit mushy feeling, but not wet FIP mushy. She has some bad teeth. I gave her a dose of dewormer & flea treatment before letting her out of the carrier. She will need to be spayed & vaccinated soon and a later a dental likely with extractions.

Jeeya (aka Yolanda Sparkle Kitty) She is suspected of being pregnant. She has flea dermatitis. I gave her a dose of dewormer & a flea treatment before letting her out of the carrier. She will need to be spayed, vaccinated & combo tested soon and later a dental cleaning.

Please consider donating a helpful item from one of our Amazon wishlists, posted at the top of the page. We are in great need of food/litter.

Watch for a post about Aahna (aka Lady Spacecat).

Our main Amazon wishlist.

I’m not going to add the cleaning essentials to this one, they are on the IACS cats wishlist. All the little cat trees are for our cages/enclosures. We change them out as kitties sick symptoms are better and/or when a new kitty occupies the cage/enclosure. Caring for a lot of kitties with various illnesses, we do not like using cleaners, as they absorb in the fabrics, etc.

Hoarding cats wishlist.

Everything is most wanted, not just the litter. I didn’t want to click on every item. We go through a ton and with these cats likely carrying contagious virus, cleaning is nonstop. They all have dental issues, therefore, they really like pate wet food, but have started eating the extra gravy friskies & fancy feast. I have tried many kinds of dry kibble and they prefer Fancy Feast dry kitten & the adult. I know a couple are playing, because I can hear them from downstairs.
I did add cat carriers with top loaders. I would prefer they have their own, considering the contagious viruses some of the other IACS hoarding cats came back positive for. The carriers will be sanitized each use, but I would rather they stay in their isolation area.

Our friends at My New Cat Rescue are fighting to save one of their precious bottle raised babies. She’s currently being hospitalized at Purdue. If you have ever had an animal with a liver shunt, it’s a devastating medical condition. She’s too small for surgery, so all they can do is manage the condition in hopes of her growing strong enough.

My family & countless supporters, were heartbroken after LPAC pulled Jordy, an adorable, deeply loved Shepard puppy from IACS last year. We fought hard for him, but his shunt caused extreme symptoms that progressively got worse each day. We are asking our supporters to please donate even $5 to help them fight for this sweet baby, in memory of the many animals that never got a fighting chance or they lost their battle despite all efforts.

MNC is one of us and we love their dedication, compassion and willingness to always be in our corner when needed.

Thank you in advance for helping us, help them fight for her.

Little Samba started having seizures and foaming at the mouth today. She was rushed to Purdue was diagnosed with a liver shunt. Because her liver isn't working, toxins have started building up in her body making her very sick! She is going to be hospitalized to try to get her ammonia levels down. Our bill will probably be at least 1500$ already. Please consider a tax deductible donation!!

17/07/2024

It’s not rescue when animals are time stamped to lose their lives, because they entered a facility for being failed by humans. So many of us animal loving rescues/shelters/humane societies, fight daily to RESCUE & SAVE the lives of animals of all kinds… because we are compassionate, respectful of animals lives, unconditionally loving humans, that believe in fighting for the voiceless, the neglected, the abused, the abandoned, the injured, the tiniest, the biggest, the adorably beautiful, yet indifferent creatures that occupy our world. We are willing to annoy, complain, speak our minds, and tick people off, that undermine our abilities, our commitments, our passions and our right to fight for what we believe in. RESCUING & SaViNg innocent, deserving animals! We are strong, bold, emotional, knowledgeable, and unwilling to give up… animal loving people.

With that, we (multiple animal organizations & advocates), busted our asses to save 20 lives that were given one day at a chance of experiencing “all things amazing!” We refused to let them die and pulled as many strings as we could, making sure they had commitments. We managed to save ALL the cats (19), RIP to the sickest kitty that passed away ( #20).

These cats will never miss a meal, fresh water or comfort again. They will never have to live in a pile, in small quarters amongst their own urine & f***s. They will never go without temperature controlled environments. They will never go without medical care. They WILL now have an opportunity to learn what love, kindness and respect is. They will get to experience toys, cat trees, exercise wheels, pet beds, cat treats and every little thing that helps provide them with “all things amazing!”

We all need your support. This is not for us… this is for the cats that have absolutely no idea what it feels like to be worthy of “all things amazing!” Help us change that. Help us by donating towards their medical care, purchasing essentials or by sending a gift of a much needed item from our chewy wishlist.

Thank you
My New Cat Rescue for saving 3 lives.
Pepper's Pals Cat Rescue for saving 9 lives.
Humane Society Boone County for saving 2 lives.
LPAC saved 5 lives!

Thank you to the advocates, volunteers, pledgers/supporters, transporters, and fosters.

Rescue takes an army. Rescue takes dedication. Rescue takes a loving heart.

Jiggy Gray Cat, 7-year-old intact male.

Jiggy is a very nervous boy who does not want to be handled and will swat and hiss at you when you approach his kennel. He has thinning and dirty fur, eye discharge and heavy staining and tartar across all his teeth.

This cat has not been formally tested for calicivirus but has potentially been exposed and is displaying some possible symptoms. Although we have been attempting to administer medication, the cat's frightened state means they are not reliably taking the meds.

Due to the potential for calicivirus in addition to the other medical concerns, and our inability to isolate this animal from our general population, we are giving this cat an urgent deadline.

We are actively working to start all exposed cats in the IACS shelter on medication, thoroughly clean all cat areas and separate healthy cats from those potentially exposed as much as we are able.

We are unable to facilitate this cat's adoption or foster through IACS at this time. However, we encourage interested individuals to contact rescue partners who may have the necessary resources.

Interested rescue organizations can reach us at [email protected]

UPDATE: While we haven't been able to combo test all of the cats for FIV/FeLV due to their frightened state in the kennels, we have tested eight of them and all tests came back negative.

Mr. Bocephus, 5-year-old intact male cat.

Mr. Bocephus is a roughly 5-year-old cat. Due to his behavior, he was unable to be thoroughly examined. You can tell he has live fleas and very dirty ears. It was noticeable he had URI symptoms and was treated for that, although it is hard to guarantee he got all of the medication due to not being able to medicate and having to give it in wet food.

This cat has not been formally tested for calicivirus but has potentially been exposed and is displaying some possible symptoms. Although we have been attempting to administer medication, the cat's frightened state means they are not reliably taking the meds.

Our Story

Welcome to LPAC, a NO-Kill, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Battle Ground, IN. My name is Teresa Fee; I am the Founder, ED & President of Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. I have rescued animals for 16+ years in Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and on August 19th 2018 I picked up 4 senior feral boys from UPAWS in Michigan. We are so sad that Junior Bug, Baby & McGuyver have passed and their brother Bootsie is recovering from a stroke. I have always loved animals since young; especially, feral cats, those that are ill, pregnant/nursing, injured, and/or of senior age.

At LPAC, our focus is to help provide medical attention & rehabilitation in a loving, respectful and attentive family environment. We offer both temporary & lifelong programs to homeless kitties in need. This includes stray/feral & confiscations from hoarding situations.

Our goal is to “change the world for animals in need!” With dedication, understanding, patience and a whole lot of love; feral cats of all ages can be transformed. I have immense respect and love for feral kitties. They truly are incredible creatures that deserve just as much as cuddly, hand/house-raised kitties. Often times, feral cats require a long process to build trust. Although, not all become adoptable pets; they still have formed bonds they otherwise wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for the passion and compassion we have for them. We created our lifelong program, not only for the ill and seniors; but to offer a forever place to call home with a family that understands feral/under-socialized kitties. We work hard to rehabilitate & socialize kitties, so that they can live comfortably indoors & even those that may remain outside. Here at LPAC, we strongly believe and participate in TNR, and provide adequate housing for those that continue living in the outdoor elements. Those that remain outside still receive human contact, all necessities the indoor kitties get, and medical attention as needed. Every furry face is spayed/neutered, receives FVRCP & rabies vaccines, as well as flea treatments, and de-wormed. Occasionally, we receive kitties that are FIV/FeLV tested, when recommended by our veterinarians. Many kitties adopted from LPAC are ear-tipped, because they were deemed non-adoptable at time of spay/neuter. We fight for every kitty that joins Loving Paws and we do not put limits on the medical care they need & deserve.

We do not offer the “Barn Program” that most other shelters/rescues have. We are the barn program for feral kitties and/or cats that do not meet adoption requirements. The best interests of all furry face residence in our care is a top priority. Their comfort matters and we make sure they are placed in either a home with a new family and/or our rescue home with LPAC’s family. No matter their lifetime of needs; they will receive it with your family or ours.
