Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. - LPAC LPAC is dedicated to “at-risk” homeless felines. Please spay & neuter! www.petfriendlyplate.org Welcome to LPAC. I have rescued animals since 2002.

My name is Teresa Fee; Founder and Executive Director of Loving Paws Animal Center - LPAC. I have always loved animals since young, especially, those who are ill, injured, special needs (CH) and/or of senior age.

LPAC is a No-Kill 501(c)3 Nonprofit Animal Rescue Group located in Battle Ground, Indiana dedicated to homeless at-risk feral/stray kitties that are sick, injured, special needs and/or

motherless kittens. We take pride in transforming kitties of all ages that have suffered unnecessary neglect.

At LPAC, our focus is to provide top-notch medical attention & rehabilitation in a loving, respectful and attentive family environment. We offer both temporary & lifelong programs to kitties in need, as space is available. LPAC proudly offers TNR services to areas lacking assistance. TNR services are only offered when funds are available. Trap Neuter Return is the most humane choice to help decrease the overpopulation of unwanted litters. TNR kitties that are happier & best suited in their outside elements, are always released back to their colony/property within 72 hours of their spay/neuter surgery; unless, further recovery time is needed. We do not recommend relocation of feral cats, unless they are in an unsafe environment (relocation will be determined at time of assessment). All colonies require a dedicated caretaker. Spaying and neutering your family pets is a great way to help reduce the overpopulation of animals. Not only will it help with behaviors in cats & dogs, as well as their need to mark their territory; they live happier, healthier lives. Altered animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases too. Therefore, the spread of these diseases decreases. Approximately, 2.7 million animals are euthanized a year. Spayed/Neutered animals will help decrease the number of animals that are killed. It costs more to care for a litter of kittens or puppies, than it would to have them fixed. One female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in a 6 year period. While a cat and her offspring can produce a large amount of 370,000 in seven years. These numbers are outrageous and growing. It's time to help make a difference in the lives of our family pets and our community of homeless furry friends.

Hello all, this is Teresa, using my husbands acct. I have been locked out of mine and waiting for FB to fix it.

I have many posts/updates to do, but until I’m able to access my acct, I’m going to keep it simple. In the meantime, I am posting our New Year Amazon Wishlist. While we received donations recently from Honey Creek Kennels, much of what we use for our kitty residence, are cleaning supplies & a little of the wet food. Most food items will go to the hoarding property. Please consider sending our kitties a much needed item. We are almost out of everything. It’s been a very stressful start to the New Year and we are brainstorming on what is best for LPAC to continue our mission. There are many “most needed” items marked, but all food options on our list are needed. After dumping all our cat boxes yesterday, we are down to 3 bags of litter. That is enough to do 2 of our large “tote” cat boxes and that’s it. If you have any questions about who here eats what or any other questions about our wishlist, please comment and my husband will make sure I’m able to answer them.

I am not able to read/respond to any messages either. Please be patient as I wait to have access to my acct.

Thank you for your understanding & support!

Two of our special needs kitties, Jayse and Kaen, went to live with their Veterinarian. Dropping Kaen off to her was a bitter sweet moment for me. I found Kaen dying inside the home at the hoarding house a few months ago. Kaen struggled with a multitude of health issues. He had pneumonia, mycoplasma, eye infections, ocular congenital defects, calicivirus and has very limited vision. He was hospitalized twice and went through countless treatments, isolation and a few scared along the way. Kaen still struggles to remain healthy, but he is alive, at a healthy weight, eats great and absolutely loves playing. I will miss him, but some of the kitties that weren’t fond of his high energy, won’t!

I told myself…. NO MORE KITTIES! Using “saved another” and “we’re struggling” in the same sentence, is never a good thing! But here we are…. Struggling and have a new intake kitty.

Meet Knova! She is approximately 4-5 months old and an absolute sweetheart.

While walking the property I went to assess this morning, I found this little girl laying on a tarp, blowing snot bubbles out her nose, sneezing, missing an eye, filthy and when she walked, her front legs appeared slightly abnormal. All it took was talking to her, she became our little shadow the entire time we walked the property - in & out of barns, from one side of the yard to across the road… she was right there. She was determined and very persistent! She followed us to my van and I couldn’t leave her behind. She was begging for help! I named her Knova, which means “new.” New beginning in the New Year.

Knova was bathed, had her first dose of dewormer, flea treatment, started on eye drops and doxycycline.

Sorry I’ve been so quiet lately! I have been quite busy & also trying to figure out how to get us out of the struggles we are in. 2025 isn’t going to start off well for us, unfortunately.
Last week was nonstop, as was today.

Here’s what has been going.

The 24th, Rhylinn had a pre-op appt. The 26th, we had Theodorable (singleton), a stray cat named Panther (he was claimed by his family the next day) and a mom & her 4 babies fully vetted to prepare them for adoption. The 27th Rhylinn and Lorcan (he is one of our long term residence), both had Polyp removal surgery (Nasopharyngeal polyps). You can see the huge one they removed from Rhylinn in the photo. Plus a pic of Lorcan. They are both on antibiotics, pain meds & will have follow up appts. Rhylinn still needs vaccines, once healthy enough.

Today my sister & I stopped by to check on the hoarding cats, feed them as usual and stocked them up for about 6 days.

She also went with me to assess a new location I was contacted about. I will do a separate post for this!

Please keep Rhylinn & Lorcan in your thoughts, as they recover from their surgeries.

Update on the recent situation with receiving a bad check & the adopted kittens!

The boys are doing just fine, are not in harms way and very much loved.

The check was not intentional, it was by accident. We will NOT be removing the boys and are not moving forward to take any legal action, this is why…..

She was rushing to get out the door with her daughter, to go buy a cat carrier & supplies, prior to picking up the kittens. She grabbed the wrong checkbook, therefore, wrote a check from the recently closed acct. They are identical and from the same bank. It was an honest mistake. Furthermore, in my own investigation, I found that she is going through a divorce. To some this may not matter, to me personally, it does. It has been a battle for 1.5 years and continues! She has 3 wonderful children. Her new acct was put on hold due to a larger deposit (this took place 2 weeks after the mistakenly written check). She openly shared this information with me, not only because she felt horrible for the mistake, but because she felt she had to prove she could financially afford the adoption fee & to care for the kittens. This actually made me sad, because she shouldn’t have had to feel obligated to expose such personal info. It wasn’t just told to me, she showed me the letter from the bank. She was pleading her case and desperate for understanding and grace!

We have agreed, that once the acct hold is over (which is on the 22nd), she will pay the $150 for the bank charge (the adoption fee amount). Being a mother and having had experienced hard times in the past myself, and at Christmas time…. I refuse to take more money away from her & her children, when Christmas is a struggle for them this year. I refuse to take the kittens away from her & her children. I have chosen not to post the beautiful pictures she sent me, to protect her & the kids.

Sometimes, people make honest mistakes! They too are willing to do what needs done to make it right.

Our sweet boys will continue bringing them joy & companionship, even during a difficult holiday season.

I need a vacation from the back to back stress & emotional situations! My mind & body are exhausted and my heart is so sad!

I feel like this past month has been testing me! I feel defeated, angry, heartbroken, stressed and conflicted.

Today, Ghosts mom went to hold him close, as he took his last breath 😭💔🌁 He took a turn for the worst and sadly, wasn’t strong enough for further diagnostics. We are SO so heartbroken 😞
We have agreed to have a comprehensive Necropsy performed. We are really hoping for some solid answers on what caused his multitude of health issues. This information may give us further insight on other kittens from the hoarding property that we have lost, as well as recognizing same symptoms in some of the other cats. Please keep Ghosts family in your thoughts.

I also got the call that baby Sophi’s ashes are ready for pick up. I feel my heart in my throat, trying hard to save all these precious kitties and the horrible news keeps coming. I can only hope that everything we are doing for her sister Tafney, brings us a recovery miracle.

This morning I made a report and an Officer stopped by the adopters home, without contact. He left a note and now we patiently wait. I’ll be honest, I have no patience at this moment. So I’m ready to wrap it up quickly. I have no additional information at this time and will update as I know more.

Notice:

We are NO longer accepting personal checks for adoption fees.

We recently had an adoption of a bonded pair, that I have not yet posted about.

Please know, that if you write a bad check to a non-profit that relies solely on kind donations and adoption fees, you are not only taking the amount of the check written but the same amount of the fraudulent/bounced check in chargeback fees, away from the cats we help.

We are now out $300 for this current situation, that has not yet been resolved, despite written correspondences.

As you can imagine, our adoption fees only cover a very small portion of the medical and daily care we provide each kitty in our programs.

We WILL take legal action for bad checks! This will include the amount of the check written, same amount for chargeback fees and/or any additional bank fees, plus attorney/court costs.

We will only accept the following payment types:
cashiers checks/money orders
PayPal
Cash
and soon square!

Update on Ghost ❤️

His PCR test confirmed coronavirus. His Dr said he ate really good for dinner, psyllium fiber is being added to his food, still on IV fluids and has needed a heat source twice today. She does not believe the diarrhea issue is from the coronavirus, though the suspicion of FIP could be. She was a bit surprised that’s all that came back positive and will investigate further, should he continue to progress. This morning he was feisty after having diarrhea & needed gabapentin before a bath. Tonight his p**p was more soft served than runny and she’s hoping it continues firming up. Tomorrow she’s going to rescan to see if any free fluid is noticeable and if it’s enough to get a sample to send out for testing. Other than that, she said they are seeing small strides and hoping he continues. Obviously, there could be underlining issues, like lymphoma of the GI tract, etc. Which would require an endoscopy or biopsy. It’s pretty rare in kitties as young as him, but could be possible.

Last night they let him free roam the cat room to get some exercise and he was strong enough to hop up on the covered trash can!

Today has been quite the day!

Monti, Hayli & Tafney all went to the vet. They all continue to have “hacking” episodes, with Hayli & Tafney being the worst. These 3 are in completely separate areas of my house, have had zero contact & I’m always careful about carrying germs from one to the other. So it was decided since other treatments haven’t rid of the hacking and URI the girls have, to start them on doxycycline.

On a good note, Monti weighs 4.5 lbs and looks fantastic, eats great and active. However, it was confirmed that he has an abnormally small head and a prominent heart murmur 😕

Hayli’s eyes have healed beautifully, minus small scarring in one of them. She is gaining weight, loves playing, extremely affectionate when comfortable and is a wet-food social eater (she likes her person to be present while she enjoys her snackies).

Tafney (sister of Sophi that we recently lost), has backtracked once again and not thriving, but we’re trying! As much as our vet hates giving steroids to littles like her, it was the best option to give her a tiny bit to try decreasing inflammation and sparking appetite. Sometimes, things need to be given/done, as a last effort to turn things around.

I also had the opportunity to visit with Ghost. I cannot even put into words, how heartbroken I was seeing him. I will never forget taking him from the hoarding property as a wee one, healing his illnesses and helping him trust humans. He became the most loving, playful, happy & healthy baby boy. I was so excited when he was ready for adoption and soon after, chosen. Ghost aka Jispurr, is terribly unwell. He is however, more stable in terms of his blood sugar, body temp & hydration (though, still dehydrated, blood sugar is being monitored and requires a heating source). His back end is horribly raw from the chronic diarrhea he’s had for a long time, and his energy level is minimal. He is eating more and on a strict diet. His vet told me that he passed tissue in his p**p, which is concerning (cause unknown, but the likely causes are suspected). His case is day by day. Things could change without notice.

Please keep all these sweet, sweet babies in your thoughts.

RIP sweet, sweet boy 💔😭🌁

Update from our vet on Ghost:

Ghost is very cute. He is more active now with the fluids and meds we have started (steroids, dextrose and metronidazole), I would say he is static, not better, not worse. He does have effusion in his abdomen, none in his chest. Not enough to tap, but maybe as we rehydrate that will change. Weight is 2.6 #. He surely could have wet FIP, I haven't pulled blood as he is so depleted it's not worth it (and he had extensive BW done already). The concern of circulatory issues the previous vet mentioned, was likely about him presenting in shock (he was still in shock when he presented to us) because cold, low blood pressure, low heart rate, etc. FIP treatment will continue.
We are waiting on results from the Diarrhea RealPCR Panel (Comprehensive Plus). This is one of the most expensive tests, over $400, but could give us some answers.

Please consider contributing to our precious boys medical care. No amount is too small, every penny adds up. We just want to give him the absolute best chance. He’s still only a kitten, just 8 months old and has a very rough start to life.

This is exactly how I feel about ALL of our LPAC’s kitties and my human children.

Love & Protection!!

South African photographer Mark Dumbleton captured this powerful image of a lioness after a violent fight with a predator. She lost a tooth in the struggle but managed to protect her cub, ensuring its survival.

In the photograph, her face is stained with blood as she embraces her cub. The cub, Ali, appears unaware of his mother’s pain and sacrifice—but one day, when he grows and takes on the responsibility of protecting the pride, he will understand her devotion.

This striking image is a reminder of the sacrifices mothers make, regardless of species.

Help us Help Ghost aka Jispurr

Ghost is fighting for his life 😭

This sweet boy is only 8 months old & from the current hoarding house we’ve been working since May. He is one of the first kittens we removed and was adopted in August with Morek (now Cricket), also from the HH.

Ghost started having some issues with diarrhea, URI and eye infection, shortly after adoption. He had countless tests and received multiple rounds of treatment, including Gut Restore, Veterinary Diet, daily supplements, weekly b12, SubQ fluids, etc and things seemed to be looking up for him, until later in Sept. His diarrhea got worse, to where he had to be isolated with puppy pads and now requires puppy pads, diaper changes, medicated skin cream and constant cleanings. Ghost has continued to decline without solid diagnosis for his downward spiral of health concerns. He has been back & forth to the vet, admitted and has had more diagnostics done in 3 months, than most cats do their entire lives. His family has been completely dedicated to his care and trying to find answers, so they can save their babies life. They have spent thousands of dollars doing so and now need our help.

Yesterday, my gut instinct told me that Ghost might have Dry FIP and possibly Ocular FIP. We just lost baby Sophi from it the day before and I thought, NOPE not today; we have to do everything in our power to help his amazing, loving & devastated family help continue fighting for him. I went to my vet clinic and picked up the remaining FIP meds we had and the little food items left that we use for cases like Sophi & Ghost and dropped it off to her clinic where Ghost was at the time. Kay picked up the starter supplies and her sweet boy from the clinic, knowing his chances of surviving the night were unlikely. She brought him home and got him situated before giving him his first FIP injection. This morning before his second injection, Ghost got up on his precious, weak paws and ate a little food that she offered him.
So here we are today…. Ghost lifted his head, after using what little energy he had to stand & nibble on some food, to let his dad take a picture for this post. We wanted everyone to see the sweetest boy, that desperately needs our help.

We are hoping that the FIP treatment is what he needed all along. Dry FIP can be more difficult to diagnose, as it mimics so many other viruses, and without fluid to test (unless he were to have both Wet & Dry FIP, which doesn’t appear to be the case).

Below we have a wishlist… it’s a big one! These are all the things we use for FIP kitties. The food options are crucial in giving them as many options as possible to help encourage eating. He needs a pet heating pad (not a human one that’s currently being used), as his temp is very low at this time & unable to regulate it. Both cleaning/sanitizing wipes, potty pads, syringes/needles for his injections, his favorite toys, etc. Items will be directly shipped to his family.

We are also seeking monetary donations to order more FIP medication, so we do not have a break in his treatment. He is also in need of weekly b12 injections and should he progress with treatment, he will need weekly follow up appts & lab rechecks for the first month.

Please consider helping us help Ghost. We have to at least try!! His 3 year old human brother is sad seeing his buddy sick. He is the one that renamed him Ghost 🥰

Our Story

Welcome to LPAC, a NO-Kill, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Battle Ground, IN. My name is Teresa Fee; I am the Founder, ED & President of Loving Paws Animal Center, Inc. I have rescued animals for 16+ years in Indiana, Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, and on August 19th 2018 I picked up 4 senior feral boys from UPAWS in Michigan. We are so sad that Junior Bug, Baby & McGuyver have passed and their brother Bootsie is recovering from a stroke. I have always loved animals since young; especially, feral cats, those that are ill, pregnant/nursing, injured, and/or of senior age.

At LPAC, our focus is to help provide medical attention & rehabilitation in a loving, respectful and attentive family environment. We offer both temporary & lifelong programs to homeless kitties in need. This includes stray/feral & confiscations from hoarding situations.

Our goal is to “change the world for animals in need!” With dedication, understanding, patience and a whole lot of love; feral cats of all ages can be transformed. I have immense respect and love for feral kitties. They truly are incredible creatures that deserve just as much as cuddly, hand/house-raised kitties. Often times, feral cats require a long process to build trust. Although, not all become adoptable pets; they still have formed bonds they otherwise wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for the passion and compassion we have for them. We created our lifelong program, not only for the ill and seniors; but to offer a forever place to call home with a family that understands feral/under-socialized kitties. We work hard to rehabilitate & socialize kitties, so that they can live comfortably indoors & even those that may remain outside. Here at LPAC, we strongly believe and participate in TNR, and provide adequate housing for those that continue living in the outdoor elements. Those that remain outside still receive human contact, all necessities the indoor kitties get, and medical attention as needed. Every furry face is spayed/neutered, receives FVRCP & rabies vaccines, as well as flea treatments, and de-wormed. Occasionally, we receive kitties that are FIV/FeLV tested, when recommended by our veterinarians. Many kitties adopted from LPAC are ear-tipped, because they were deemed non-adoptable at time of spay/neuter. We fight for every kitty that joins Loving Paws and we do not put limits on the medical care they need & deserve.

We do not offer the “Barn Program” that most other shelters/rescues have. We are the barn program for feral kitties and/or cats that do not meet adoption requirements. The best interests of all furry face residence in our care is a top priority. Their comfort matters and we make sure they are placed in either a home with a new family and/or our rescue home with LPAC’s family. No matter their lifetime of needs; they will receive it with your family or ours.
