GBAR Family, two of our own need our help. ZB (gray female) and Flash (orange & white male) need a loving home - again. You see, ZB and Flash were adopted from GBAR in 2023 as kittens. They had wonderful pet parents and kids who adored them. Sadly, one of the children had allergies to the cats and despite medications, the allergies worsened to the point of asthma attacks. The extremely difficult decision was made to return ZB and Flash to GBAR. There was not a dry eye in the house the day these two came back. Our hearts broke for the cats and their family.
ZB & Flash know what they are missing. We want so badly to find them a home that will provide them the love and care they knew before. Both cats were born in July 2023 and although they are not siblings, they quickly bonded. We will not separate them as they have lost enough. They are up to date on vaccines, altered and blood tested negative.
They will make wonderful companions for a family with respectful kids, for a single person or a couple. Several of our volunteers have stated if they had room at home they would adopt them. They truly are special.
If you have room in your heart and home, please submit an application. Apps are found at www.greenbayanimalrescue.weebly.com on the adoption process tab.
If you can't adopt, please share. Let's do this!

Sally is using her best interpretative dance moves to try and get the attention of someone to adopt her and her BFF, Maurice. Sally and Maurice are approximately 10 months old and are both sweet, fun-loving and entertaining. Their spay/neuter surgeries are done, they are vaccinated and microchipped. They are just waiting for a forever home. Maurice is active and mischievous and Sally keeps an eye on his antics. We truly want them to be adopted together. We could consider splitting them up for a perfect situation, but it is a last resort type of decision. Applications are found on our website- www.greenbayanimalrescue.weebly.com
*Please note- if you currently have pets, they must have routine vet care and be up to date on vaccines to have your application considered.*

Ok, hold up a minute. This morning's post introducing Maurice and Sally leads you to believe Maurice is just your average kitten needing a home. Trust me, that was very misleading. Maurice is about as far from “average” as he can be.

A little background- Maurice was a stray that wandered up to a home. He was loaded with ticks and so small and skinny it was thought he was a young kitten. In reality he was at least 6 months old but due to internal parasites and 2 bacterial infections he was wasting away.

After being treated for all his ailments and having his health restored, Maurice’s true character came bursting out.

Maurice is a whole lotta personality wrapped in fur and deceptive adorableness. Maurice LOVES attention. In fact, he demands it. As our volunteers joke, if Maurice doesn’t get a home to dote on him and keep him supplied with his favorite thing – FOOD, he may just go into business to support himself. He has a knack for being a hair stylist and dabbles in acupuncture.

Back to the food – if it’s out, it’s Maurice’s. Nothing is off limits. Our volunteers have had to become extremely creative to make sure Sally gets to eat her own food without Maurice pushing her into the next county.

Maurice will break into cupboards and drawers to get a midnight snack. Now you will ask, who would want this little Dreamsicle with murder mittens? A special person who likes to laugh, feels their life is in a rut and wants to commit to a little hellion who will love them for the rest of his rambunctious, fun-loving life, that's who.

Perhaps Maurice will settle down once he is in a home, but then again, he may not.

He needs a home that will accept and love him for who he is. Believe us, that is VERY easy to do. We would love to see Maurice adopted with Sally. She knows him and puts up with his sh.... ummm, shenanigans.

We’ve laid it all out there with full transparency. Now we need to find the Yin to Maurice’s Yang. Is it you??

Z.B. (Zing-Boom) and Flash were adopted out as kittens two years ago. Unfortunately, a child in the home was allergic and then developed asthma. Many tears were shed as they returned these two wonderful cats back to rescue. They are ready for a new home. The cats are two years old and are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, blood tested negative, and microchipped. They are both very sweet and our bonded to each other. The adoption fee has been sponsored, so there is no cost to adopt, however an approved application is necessary. Applications can be found on our website under the adoption process tab.

These two older kittens are Sally and Maurice. They are ready for a forever home of their own! They can go together or separately, but another young cat or kitten in the home would be best for them. Both kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, blood tested negative, and microchipped. Their adoption fee has been sponsored! However, we do need an approved application to adopt. Applications can be found on our website under the adoption process tab.

Are you looking for a dog like cat? One who knows his name, loves to play and once he knows you will be your loyal friend? Well, hurry up and meet Murphy! Murphy came to GBAR in 2023 as a tiny kitten who was found alone along a roadside. GBAR took care of his medical needs and we thought he had found his forever home. Murphy was recently returned to GBAR through no fault of his own. Murphy is a two year old neutered male who is up to date on his vaccines and blood tested negative. He has lived with another cat and could be dog tested. He has not lived with kids but we are not saying he couldn't. Murphy will come with his own food, litterbox, blanket and toys. We can even supply a carrier if needed! Murphy's adoption fee is $50 - that's a steal for a lifetime of love. ❤️ Apply to adopt at www.greenbayanimalrescue.weebly.com
Pics are Murphy then and now. 🐈‍⬛

‼️NOTE: This post is not about placing/adopting pets into new homes. This post is about KEEPING pets in their homes when their owners have faced a hardship or a difficult situation. Our focus is to lessen the burden of pets that are surrendered to shelters and rescues.‼️
________

Friends, the sad reality is that most rescues and shelters have hung this sign on their doors. They are NOT exaggerating or looking for pity donations. The truth is that the state of animal welfare is as bad as most of us have ever seen it. As we see it, pet overpopulation is the black cloud hanging over all of us. But beneath that black cloud are smaller storms that can cause animals to lose their loving homes. Owners can experience financial hardship, they can have a pet with behavioral issues that they are not equipped to deal with, or may not be able to find housing that accepts animals. This post is NOT about judging, it is about asking what can be done to keep pets in their loving homes with their owners who are struggling but desperately want to keep their pets.
GBAR is extremely fortunate to have generous donors and a core of dedicated volunteers. We want to be good stewards of both the funds and time that are donated to us. We have had discussions on how GBAR can reduce the amount of pets entering the homeless pool while not overwhelming our finances or volunteers. We want to share some of the ideas we have and ask you to contribute your thoughts and suggestions.

1) offer vouchers for low cost spay/neuter surgeries - this hits at root cause for the largest issue
2) offer short term help with cat food, cat litter and/or dog food (thinking of having a Chewy or Amazon acct that when a request is made to GBAR and approved, GBAR will direct ship to your home)
3) for dog behavioral issues offer a voucher for a certified trainer for a set amount of classes
4) financial help for security deposit in order to obtain pet friendly housing
5) for cat litterbox issues- help to determine if it is a medical issue or a behavioral issue

**PLEASE NOTE - EXCEPT FOR CAT SPAY/NEUTER VOUCHERS, THESE ARE NOT SERVICES CURRENTLY OFFERED BY GBAR**

We have taken some of the top reasons pets are surrendered and tried to brainstorm ideas that could have an impact. Thinking of the starfish story, we may not be able to help many, but for the ones we do, it will make a difference.

We welcome constructive input and ideas. If you are not comfortable sharing publicly, please feel free to private message or email. We may not respond to every comment or email, but rest assured we will read them all and take them into consideration. We don't have a road map yet, but we know staying in the current spot is no longer an option. Stay tuned to share in the journey to make life better for pets and their owners.

Our sweet Adora is trying to get someone’s attention because she needs a new home! Adora was surrendered to us after an eviction. She is three years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and blood tested negative. A quieter home would be best for Adora, older children would be fine. Her adoption fee is $50, and applications are on our website under the adoption process tab.

The GBAR kids know Mother's Day is tomorrow, but they were too excited to wait. Adora (calico) led Maurice (orange & white) and baby Sally in a rousing rendition of Stevie Wonder's "You are the Sunshine of my Life" and they dedicated it to all the moms out there - whether you have children, fur kids, or are a special person in a child's life. Adora, Maurice and Sally would also like to inform everyone that if you want to grow your family soon, that they are going to be looking for their very own family to love. They are all receiving their vet care and will soon be interviewing potential parents. Stay tuned to GBAR'S page to learn more about each of these little stars!

Gossamer and Murray - we are sorry you never got to meet them.....because they were adopted so quickly!!! 😁 The baby guinea pig brothers were a transfer from a northern shelter who had 5 pigs surrendered to them. They asked us to take the babies because they were concerned mom could be pregnant again. Word spread fast that we had babies and a previous adopter expressed adoption interest within 24 hrs. The little tots went to their forever home just 4 days after they arrived. When they are old enough, GBAR will pay for their neuter surgery so they have long, healthy and happy lives. Congrats boys!! May you be showered with baby carrots, baby lettuce and all the hay your little bellies can hold. ❤️❤️

COURTESY POST…Not a GBAR dog. Send us a message with your contact info if you want to get in touch with the foster home.

“Otto is a friendly and lovable 3 year old Great Pyrenees mix. He knows basic commands of sit, down, and come. Otto is smart and learns fast. He is very motivated by treats! He walks pretty well on a leash although other dogs can be distracting. At 85 pounds, Otto is a strong boy who loves to explore the outdoors. He is learning not to be a door dasher! Although Otto takes meds for anxiety, he is not a destructive chewer. He exhibits no signs of food aggression. Housetrained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, Otto would make a great family pet. The ideal home would have a fenced in yard and another dog for Otto to play with.”
