We are helping this beautiful cat find a home! If you are interested in her, please contact us and we will get you in touch with Trisha. Here is what Trisha has to say about Bessie:

“Please share to get Bessie a good home for the holidays! Last week I saw someone pull into a house by my parents house and toss a cat out of their car. She was hunkered down in the front yard and I went and grabbed her and she was so scared. My parents neighbor has a colony of outdoor cats so he told me that he figured she was getting dumped to join his colony of cats, but he knew she wouldn’t survive outside, so I offered to take her to find her a home.

I’m obsessed with her. She’s soooo sweet, chunky, and she loves wet food. You can totally tell she was someone’s house cat. She is spayed, up to date on rabies, needs one more distemper vaccine then will be good, and she is blood tested and f***l tested all negative. She’s roughly 3. She’s not super playful, but she waits for me right by the door of her room, waiting for attention. She loves to rub and be pet.

Not sure how she is with other cats. She just wants a home with endless love and wet food! Probably not endless food tho because she’s chunky but endless love. These photos do not do her justice.”

The very best things can come in small packages and Tess proved that every day of her life. Early in 2020 a tiny dog was surrendered to GBAR. The story was she was dropped off at a friend's house and her "owner" never came back for her. Tess was in horrendous shape - her teeth were so infected and rotted they were causing oozing sores on her face. She was in so much pain it hurt to eat and she was critically underweight. The person who had possession of her surrendered her recognizing she needed significant medical help. (pictures are Tess after recovery and graphic photos of Tess at intake and the teeth removed from her mouth)
GBAR, with the expert vets at Parkside Animal Care Center, made sure Tess had everything she needed to recover. In April 2020 Tess met the dogmom of her dreams, Renee. Renee adopted Tess promising her no more pain, no more hunger and that she would never be abandoned again.
Renee knew just how special Tess was and decided to share her inspirational story and recovery on Tik Tok. 16,000 people fell in love with Tess and helped Renee and Tess give back to GBAR. Over the last 5 years GBAR has received monetary donations, food, supplies and fundraiser donations from Tik Tok Tess and her followers. This tiny little 5lb dog helped her rescuers save and rehabilitate so many more animals in need.
On Nov 13, 2025 Tess, at over 18 yrs old, left this earth in her mom's arms. Renee kept her promise to Tess - no more pain, no abandonment, just an abundance of love as she crossed the bridge.
We hurt for Renee as Tess was her beloved companion and together they were a force to be reckoned with. We are so grateful for the life Renee provided Tess the last 5 yrs. Tess's real life began in April 2020 and the previous 12 years were banished from memory. With Tess's passing, her followers are donating to GBAR in her memory.
Even though Tess is no longer with us, her impact is still being felt. She was a little dog who was larger than life.
You will always be remembered, Tess and greatly missed. Renee, we send our love and our heartfelt condolences.

Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of support for Maple and her foster family. Maple continues to travel the right direction on her road to recovery. She's sneezing a bit but that is to be expected. She is definitely starting to relax and look for attention. She's one tough cookie. Here's a pic we received right after she was rescued from the site of the fire and then 2 from today. You can absolutely see the change. It warms our hearts to see our Maple returning to her loving self.

This post is for Maple's foster brother, Richard, who is still missing after the fire. Maple & Tony survived and we are not giving up hope that Richard made it, too. Please call Kim with any sightings - 920 265 2017. Please do not call out or approach Richard if seen. Thank you!

*Update on Maple and her foster family* Richard the cat has not been found. The family is focused on finding him- there are live traps set and a drone that identifies heat sources being used. We are hopeful he is ok and will be found.
Some have asked if Maple will be able to go back with her foster family. The family is still in shock and their concern is for Richard and that their other pets continue their recovery without complications. Maple is staying in our vet's treatment room where she has trained eyes monitoring her the entire day. Once we feel comfortable that she isn't going to have any setbacks, she will be settled into one of our rescue spaces.
Maple's foster family will be living with family members for the near future and will not have their permanent home restored or rebuilt for awhile.
For now, Maple needs to recover physically and emotionally and then there will be discussions regarding her future.
She is safe, loved and receiving the best care . We are extremely thankful for everyone's concern and the outpouring of love for all who were affected by the fire. We are surrounded by a wonderful community.

Yesterday amidst the worry, concern and heartbreak for Maple and her foster family, we received a very special boost to our morale.
This is a story that covers 11 years of time. A little kitten named Cheddar came into GBAR's care in 2014. She was fully vetted and put up for adoption. A father contacted us and said he wanted to adopt Cheddar for his young daughter. Sadly, due to working in rescue for so long, this threw up a red flag. How many times we have seen animals lose their homes because "we got him/her for the kids but they have lost interest and are no longer caring for him/her". We talked with the dad and he was so sincere that we felt comfortable placing Cheddar with his family and stressed Cheddar was to be returned to the rescue if it didn't work out.
Last night as I was breezing through the lobby at Parkside Animal Care Center on a mission for Maple, reception announced over the speakers that Cheddar was there for her appointment. I thought it can't possibly be "our" Cheddar. But as I looked in the crate being held by a beautiful young woman, I spied a pretty buff cat. I stopped in my tracks and asked if her dad adopted Cheddar from GBAR for her and the answer was YES!
She went on to say that Cheddar has been a huge part of her life. When she went to school in Colorado, Cheddar went with her. When she moved to Washington DC, Cheddar was at her side. She is now back home and Cheddar is home, too. She assured us Cheddar was at the vet for a wellness exam and was doing well.
We are so thankful we took the time 11 years ago to talk with dad and did not lump him in with the parents who do not truly commit to an animal they adopt. Dad knew his daughter well and blessed her with a wonderful companion.
Cheddar and her girl are a perfect match and we could not be happier for them. We also feel like yesterday they were placed in our path to brighten our day and remind us that what we do matters. Sadly, I didn't get a picture yesterday of the two of them together, but dug up a picture of Cheddar the day she was found.
What a wonderful life that once frightened little kitten is now living!

This is a picture of our sweet Maple in her foster home. Today Maple is back with us due to a heartbreaking house fire. This morning, while her fosters were at work, their home was destroyed by a fire. A neighbor was able to break down a door and the 2 dogs got out safely. There was no sign of Maple or her Foster's personal cats, Tony and Richard. After the fire was extinguished, foster dad asked the firefighters to lift up a couch in the lower level where the cats were known to relax. Imagine the relief when Tony & Maple were found alive. As of this afternoon, Richard has not been found. A firefighter believes he saw Richard dart from the ruins and a live trap has been set. Maple and Tony have been seen by our partner vet and are being monitored for health issues. The dogs have an appt to be seen. This foster family, as well as their extended family have always been a blessing to GBAR. They volunteer, have served on the board and live and breathe rescue and animal welfare. Maple was found in the middle of the woods and rescued by her foster dad and has been his foster for several months. GBAR is supplying the family with supplies for all their pets and is helping with the vet care costs to make sure everyone has their medical needs met. Please pray for Richard's safe return to his family.
We would like to offer our supporters an opportunity to help Maple's foster parents who are expecting their first child this spring. They have only the clothes on their backs and their beloved pets. We know insurance will help them rebuild, but there are so many immediate needs. If you would like to help, we are asking for gift cards to stores like Meijer, Target, Walmart etc. Cards can be dropped off at Parkside Animal Care Center in an envelope labeled "Maple". Cards can also be mailed to GBAR/MAPLE PO Box 10334, Green Bay, WI 54307. *At this time we are not collecting material items.* We know many will not have the means to help, but even a share of this post is appreciated.
We are so grateful for the lives that were spared and are hopeful Richard will be found. Please keep Maple and her fosters in your prayers.

You've come a long way, Coraline! This sweet senior lady, Coraline, arrived at Green Bay Animal Rescue in mid September. This beautiful girl was so down on her luck, she probably used up 7 of her 9 lives. Coraline was very underweight, dirty and needing someone to show her kindness and provide her comfort.
GBAR was the perfect rescue to give her all that and more. Coraline's ears look different because she had severe ear mites, they were probably frost bitten at some time and her medical team believes she suffered from untreated hematomas.
Despite all this, classy Coraline has the best personality. She is affectionate, loves to be brushed and is content to lay in a shaft of sunlight.
Coraline has been medically cleared for adoption. She is blood tested negative, spayed and up to date on vaccines. We do not know how Coraline is with dogs or other cats, but her gentle personality leads us to believe with patience and proper introductions it could work. She would most likely enjoy the attention of respectful children.
Coraline is looking for a home that will keep her indoors, brush her silky coat, make sure she has wellness vet visits and above all, love her for how special she is.
Applications to adopt can be found on our website www.greenbayanimalrescue.weebly.com.
Coraline's adoption fee is sponsored, but potential adopters will be thoroughly screened.
Here are some pictures of Coraline's journey back to health--

ADOPTED
GBAR Family, two of our own need our help. ZB (gray female) and Flash (orange & white male) need a loving home - again. You see, ZB and Flash were adopted from GBAR in 2023 as kittens. They had wonderful pet parents and kids who adored them. Sadly, one of the children had allergies to the cats and despite medications, the allergies worsened to the point of asthma attacks. The extremely difficult decision was made to return ZB and Flash to GBAR. There was not a dry eye in the house the day these two came back. Our hearts broke for the cats and their family.
ZB & Flash know what they are missing. We want so badly to find them a home that will provide them the love and care they knew before. Both cats were born in July 2023 and although they are not siblings, they quickly bonded. We will not separate them as they have lost enough. They are up to date on vaccines, altered and blood tested negative.
They will make wonderful companions for a family with respectful kids, for a single person or a couple. Several of our volunteers have stated if they had room at home they would adopt them. They truly are special.
If you have room in your heart and home, please submit an application. Apps are found at www.greenbayanimalrescue.weebly.com on the adoption process tab.
If you can't adopt, please share. Let's do this!
