Meet W***y Wonka, our lovable freckled orange kitty who has been patiently waiting to find his fur-ever home! This handsome fella loves to be held, and will sweetly hop onto your lap or chest while you are relaxing with a good book or movie at home.

When it’s mealtime, W***y Wonka can be quite a chatterbox, announcing his presence in the kitchen with his cute little meow! As W***y Wonka is motivated by food, this can be a helpful way for his adopter to bond with him, along with play! As much as W***y Wonka loves to cuddle, he also enjoys the thrill of chasing wand toys or darting after a laser pointer!

W***y Wonka is seeking an adopter with a big heart who can help him manage his diabetes. This lovable boy requires insulin shots to be administered twice per day, which he takes like a champ. He was in remission recently, so we are confident that he will go into remission again and not need his shots - just his low-carb cat food, which can be purchased at any pet store (his foster mom can tell you his favourites!). W***y Wonka tolerates his treatment without making a fuss, which is all the more reason that he is such a resilient and special guy!

With his good-natured demeanour, W***y Wonka would thrive in a home as a solo pet or with another receptive cat. Anchovy was abandoned outdoors and left to fend for himself for years before he was found. This boy may look salty, but he’s all sweet! He’s cool, calm, and collected, and has thoroughly embraced retirement as an indoor cat.

Anchovy is FIV+, but that hasn't slowed down his enjoyment of his newly luxurious life! FIV is not a death sentence, as it only means a lower immune system. This cannot be transmitted to other kinds of pets or humans. FIV is only transmitted to other cats via birth from an FIV mom, or through very deep bites. Anchovy is a big guy at 17 lbs, but that's just more to love! He is not overweight (and may actually still be slightly underweight from life outdoors) - he’s just a large boy! Anchovy hasn’t shown much of a penchant for playtime yet, but he certainly loves a good cat nap.

This handsome man is comfortable with other cats after a proper introduction. Anchovy likes the simple things in life: a cozy bed, a piece of twine, and dental kibble are his current favorites! If Anchovy sounds like a purr-fect fit for your home, please reach out to Team Cat Rescue today!

“Two and a half years ago for Billy (orange) and Sarah (tabby). Still so bonded and so loving from the day I adopted them. The were tiny and sick for quite some time. Now a bit overweight which we are working on. They belong to a Doberman brother who loves them and they are the musketeers 🙂. Just an update in case anyone at team cat remembers these two they are thriving. They even have their own CATIO 🙂. More so in the summer and I suppose just spoiled lol. Built with love I’ll send some pics”

Cuddle master Philly is an adorable gentleman who will steal your heart with his loving nature. He is a wonderful snuggler who loves people, and isn't timid at all! He enjoys playing with his catnip mouse and sweater strings, and he adores watching birds from the window. Philly is spritely and playful (although he can't jump very high, so he won't get onto furniture or table tops that he's not supposed to).

It's been somewhat bumpy for Philly after being rehomed twice in the past two years. His first owner passed away, and the family friends who took him in now have to move and sadly can’t take Philly with them. Despite this, Philly remains calm, patient, and attentive to human companionship. A warm, stable environment would suit him best!

Philly eats a mix of wet and dry food, and he likes his meals on time! Philly loves having his chin scratched, although he’s not a fan of being scratched around his backside. This gentle boy is good with kids, but has not been tested with other cats or dogs. Are you ready to welcome a loving soul like Philly under your wings? Meet Cole! This skinny senior fella has been working on his gains over the summer, and is continuing to put on some well-deserved weight. His favourite hobbies are sleeping, eating treats, and snuggling close to his humans. He’s not picky with wet or dry food - he loves it all! Keep him well-fed, and he will pay you back with head butts and soft purrs.

Cole is twelve years old, and he still has a lot of life left to live! If you’re a night owl, you may be Cole’s perfect match! He loves to be up late, and doesn’t mind loud noises (his foster parents think he might be deaf). Cole is great with other cats, as well as small dogs. While he isn’t sprite enough to play too much with other pets in the home, he will give them a good side eye and act overall pretty unbothered in their presence.

FUN WITH NUMBERS PART 2: We have compiled this chart to demonstrate two trends that we are experiencing.
1. The number of cats that we are taking in is decreasing. It isn't because there are less cats in need (we wish), it is because there are less available fosters. Less foster spots equals less cats saved. We have half the fosters that we had only 4 years ago.
2. The increase in % of senior cat coming into the rescue is showing that there is an increase in seniors being dumped at shelters. This is usually because of owner death with no pet clause in their will, cost of treatments or adopting a kitten and discarding the older cat for being less playful or less cute.
Senior cats stay in foster longer as they are considered "less adoptable"thus limiting the space for new cats.

BTW even with less cats, our vet fees increased over15% from 2023 because of the vetting needs of more neglected senior cats as well as the many special needs cats that we intake.
FOSTERING LITERALLY SAVES LIVES!!!

Sookie is a dame that’s looking for a comfy home for her sunset years. Sookie has a healthy appetite, and will offer the cutest chirps to the chef of a meal well-prepared, especially for a special treat like Greek yogurt! She isn’t one to ask for cuddles, but usually welcomes chin scritches when they are available. Sookie does know how to enforce her boundaries, and may nip to end the session if necessary. But if you learn to read her cues and respect her quirks, Sookie turns out to be an amazing companion who very much enjoys TV time on the couch between her humans!

Sookie has been through quite a bit - she had a benign growth on her head when we first met her, and she is FIV+, but nothing that requires ongoing medical support. FIV is not a death sentence, and FIV+ cats can be mixed with non-FIV cats with no risk of transmitting the disease, as it is only contracted through birth from an FIV+ cat mom, or through deep bites. Sookie could play with another cat without spreading FIV - although at her age, Sookie doesn’t do too much playing! She will gently sniff her catnip pouches and keep them close to her bed, though!

Are you the one to offer a home for Sookie to live out her quiet senior years? She would greatly appreciate it, and maybe even offer you a few head butts and purrs. She really loves scritches under her chin, and will stick her neck out and push her chin and your hand down to the floor as low as she can get for a deep scratch! FUN WITH NUMBERS PART 1: As many of you know, we spend a lot on medical fees above and beyond the basics (spay/neuter, vaccines and microchip). In 2024, we spent about $145,000+ on veterinary fees alone. About $78,350 of the vet fees was for medical expenses above the basics in which $30,550 (39%) of that was spent on senior cats. For reference: the adoption fees taken in for 2024 were $45,775. This is why we keep pleading for donations. This chart shows how extraordinary medical costs are broken down for cats of all ages as well as seniors specifically.

💖 HAPPY TAILS!!! 💖

“9 months ago Baltimore found his forever home with me after over 1 year in foster with so much love and a few almost adoptions. He is my second cat, and a true lesson in patience.

We have bonded over his love of cheese and tuna. What he lacks in strength and muscle mass, he makes up for in sheer will and tenacity. I regularly have to put him in "chin jail" while I'm eating and I'm forever thankful he is too scared to try jumping on the counter.

He is coming out of his shell more and more and he loves an adventure. He enjoys walks on his leash in the hallway and the pet store where he gets to smell all the smells. He loves nothing more than to have his ears rubbed and wherever the people are. He is slow to warm up to new people but he loves once he does.

I am excited and blessed to be your final home, as long as you want to be with me 🥰”
