DARBY (2.5YRS) – REHOMING DAY

Yesterday the very delightful Darby joined Nesta (an LDR Dobie boy) in her new home.

Darby spent 22 days in kennels in which time Julie Clark has spent huge amounts of time with her providing training sessions, interactive play sessions, play time with other dogs, sniffari time and nursing her sore tail. Then yesterday she got up at the crack of dawn, collected Derby, and drove over 3hrs to a meet and greet with the potential adopters and their resident dog Nesta. It couldn’t have gone better, and so an emotional Julie had to make a dash to the car so as not to declare her leaking eyes (oops I just let the cat out of the bag 🤣🥰) as she left the very special Darby in the hands of her new adopters. Julie C, we can’t thank you enough – fabulous result, thank you ⭐👏😘

There is one more person who we must thank and that is Nate Garton who took no persuading when Julie C asked him to give up his time yesterday to go along and help with the meet and greet – thank you 🥰😘⭐️

Video: yesterday the play got started / Photo: today the play continues 😍

ENYA (4mths) – meet and greet booked with one of our fabulous 'Dobie Mates'

She arrived in to foster care with our very own puppy fostering guru Sharon J and has started to come on leaps and bounds…. which may be the operative words for her right now!

Isn’t she adorable – of course she is but those looks didn’t stop her having a p**p in Sharon's car when she went to collect her!

She arrived under-weight, environmentally under socialised and not house trained, but as she has started to find her paws, she’s getting more adventurous and playful. So, what’s been going on for this wee one since she arrived:
• She’s enjoying her scan
• She has started crate training which is going well
• The house training is under way; there have been some mopping up events but it’s early days
• She has met the two residents Dobies through the pet gate and insists on telling them that they need to play with her
• She’s finding her feet in the outside world, exploring the flower beds, veg patch, trees, nooks and crannies
• The first time she took a look at the donkeys she ran in the opposite direction (back to the house), but today she stood her ground (at distance) and gave them a bit of a talking to
• She likes to nap on her very fluffy cosy bed
• She has been back in the car and although there were no accidents on the way to the vets, she was sick on the way home
• She is untested with cats…but maybe she has some cat-like instincts as she was found sunbathing on a windowsill
• She had not been microchipped, vaccinated or wormed but this is all now sorted

When Enya came to us, she left behind two sisters, who were still available when we checked on Sunday. Lincs have messaged the owner to try to open a conversation about getting them into rescue, but the owner hasn’t responded. If you are interested in one of the remaining pups, we will happily point you in their direction – please email us: [email protected]. If you are interested in becoming a Dobie Mate email us at the same email address.

KIND WORDS FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER

One of the hardest parts of the rehoming process is collecting a dog from a home who are heartbroken having found themselves in a position where they can’t find another option but to surrender their Dobie to rescue; taking the dogs lead from the owner and leading the dog away, loading it in the car, watching the tearful good-byes, and then driving away is emotionally difficult for all, including Andy (and others who have done this for us). So, it is lovely to receive messages of appreciation from those who have surrendered their dogs. Here is a quote from one of our Dobies previous owners after we sent them an update and some videos of him settling into his new life.

“Brilliant ❤️ can I say such a big thank you from the bottom of my heart you guys have done such a brilliant job finding him the perfect home I could never repay you if I tried 💙it's made such a hard and painful time so much easier your amazing. He looks to have fit in perfectly 💙can you please pass on to the wonderful new owners too a very big thank you for giving my boy such a beautiful loving home 🏡 ❤️”

UPDATE 18.06.24 - Jagger is now in a home with adoption pending 🥰

Jagger is currently in foster and waiting for the right home. This 7 year old boy is easy going dog in the home.

He is a sweet boy who loves interacting with people. It Doesn’t seem to matter who, his only requirement is that you acknowledge him.

He will jump up but he is easily discouraged and will learn quickly that keeping all four feet in the floor is best.

He sleeps through the night and likes a lie in.

In his current foster home he lives and interacts with the resident female dog. He has to be kept separate from the resident male.

He is not good with cats.

His response to the resident cats hints at his drive to chase and catch anything that moves outside.

Cats, birds, livestock and other dogs are all on his list of things to chase and catch.

He has some arousal issues outside but generally is easy to handle on a lead.

His new home should expect to put some further work into loose lead walking, he will benefit from general obedience including recall.

With a little training and consistency Jagger will be a very easy dog to live with.

UPDATE: 18.06.24 - a meet and greet is booked

Darby (2.5yrs) - looking for a forever home

If you are interested in adopting a Dobie please visit our website and submit an adoption application.

Darby is currently in kennels in the Warrington area. A gorgeous girl who loves to please her hooman as can be seen in some of the videos in her album on our Facebook group (Dobies at Lincs Dobermann Rescue).

• People: she’s friendly with everyone she has met (LDR volunteers & kennels staff) /not lived with children / shown no signs of resource guarding around people
• Other dogs: on lead – leash frustration (barks and pulls towards other dogs) / off lead – good but careful introduction needed / with a bit of work she can be around other dogs whilst on lead as can be seen in the videos and on the photos (please check out her album)
• Home alone: can be left for 4 hrs (non-destructive in the home)
• Car travel: jumps in and out of the car crate with no issues / can be unsettled initially but does eventually settle
• A smart cookie willingly and rapidly offers behaviours for reward; over anticipates and offers every behaviour possible for reward without listening to what’s being asked for – needs work
• Food & toy motivated
• Cats: not cat friendly
• Special feature: likes to sit and watch fireworks
• Other: soft mouthed / bouncy and active / she’s a typical leaner and ‘velcro’ dog / shown good door manners / good when walking around traffic

Does anyone have a small piece of artificial grass please, approx 2m x 1m?
It's for this kennel which is having a makeover for our upcoming fun dog show. The kennel is a photo opportunity only. The fun dog show is run by ourselves, a registered charity and is being held in an indoor KC approved venue. There is no risk of the grass becoming hot.
Thank you 😊

DOBIEFEST 2023 - Lincs Dobermann Rescue fun dog show

We live streamed the best in show Dobie class to our Dobie Mates...it wouldn't surprise me if they stopped watching after 30 seconds because I did a rubbish job, although there was a moment of amusement when Nate Garton thought he could be the handler of the missing dog (competitor)…watch and see 🤣.

If you want to be a Dobie Mate, and are happy to set up a monthly donation to us (no amount to big or to small) so you too can get the inside gossip then please let us know by emailing us at: [email protected]

Dobie heaven in the club house!
PLEASE CAN ALL YOU SPAFFING SCAMMERS JOG OFF OUR GROUP. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME

08/09/2023

The set up is starting ahead of tomorrow!
The weather is keeping nice and cool for the moment with a lovely breeze

07/09/2023

We have had a few questions about whether DOBIEFEST will be cancelled due to heat.

Just to confirm, Trusthorpe is coastal and is therefore predicted a much lower temp than other areas, with cloud cover. We will have a large shade marquee, paddling pools, a sprinkler and water supply for drinking or wetting cool coats.

As responsible dog owners you all know your dogs best and what is right for them ❤️

See you all Saturday for a great day!
