photo taken in 2015 but acquired this pup in 2006.

I was working at Woodland Veterinary Clinic . I loved working in the kennel and also tended to the hospital animals when I would arrive to work at 4 a.m .

On a cold and rainy morning in August I went on with my morning feeding , medicating and cleaning the kennels .

Someone was knocking frantically on the outdoor fence and yelling for help ! It startled me a bit as it was 6 a.m .
The lady lived in the apartment complex on Shaffer and 29th Street ;she went out to get into her car and she found this baby Shepard huddled under her car scared to death . She was in a rush to get to work and had seen the lights on in the vet clinic .

I took in this pup and I isolated her from all of the other pups in the hospital area . Our veterinarian (Dr.Farnham) gave us the “ok” to call the Kent County Animal Shelter and give them details about the missing pup in hopes of finding the owner . No micro chip and she had not been spayed . We tried locating the owner for about 6 weeks . No luck .

In the meantime she had a full medical check ✔️
Full of fleas .
Full of worms .
Full blown Demodex Mange .
Poor girl .

We treated her for all of the above ⬆️ 💜

Dr.Farnham knew I had a big love for Shepards and gave me permission to keep her .

I was elated to no end . I named her Shilo Joely and she was all mine ❤️ She was able to come to work with me everyday and make friends in doggie daycare . She had a lovely social life . Shilo is not with us anymore but I have wonderful memories. Happy Friday !

Meet Rory! Rory came to us after her owners no longer wanted her. Rory is now searching for a forever home!

Rory is a poodle and is about 5 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Rory is more on the timid side, so a home that is more quiet and relaxed would be ideal. Rory has a birth defect, she has four legs, however she only has 3 paws. Despite missing a paw she still gets around without any problems! Rory is not housebroken and is learning so her new family will need to be patient as she learns. Rory will need a home without children. Rory doesn’t seem to mind the cats and is good with the other dogs. We do require a dog intro with any future k-9 siblings to make sure everyone gets along!

Rory is up to date on her vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, heartworm tested, microchipped & spayed! If you are interested in making Rory a part of your family please contact the shelter directly at 989-831-7302!

The holidays have arrived ! ✨
We are booking up for Spring 🌴Break 2025 very quickly.

Thinking of warmer, sunny🏝️weather puts a smile 😊 on my face .

Make your plans for pet care if you need overnights , cat visits and dog walks during the upcoming winter season .

Some of our clients have skiing , football games , hockey and concerts plans , dinner parties, etc happening.

One or two potty breaks can help when you are away on a day trip .

You can just relax and have fun without worry . We will feed , walk , cuddle and offer free butt rubs for your pup .

Make sure to plan your pet care ahead of time . ✔️

Pet visits to your home also alleviate issues of you hurrying 🚗🚗to drop that dog off to the kennel or hurry to pick-up !
