For those of you who don't know me...
I am a die-hard gardener.
I know that food grown with love is our magic.
I like to help people.
I'm a teacher.
I like the little things.
Because the little things are what matter.
Like the bees.
The sound of rain.
A new connection.
With an old friend, new friend, or just in my brain.
And I eat fresh-picked spinach out of my pocket,
Straight from the soil.
Which is where life begins.
😀🙏🌱

Get it while it's hot! 🐎
Horse manure is one of the BEST manures to build soil structure.
Pair it with a cover crop seeding (like winter rye or vetch) and you have a MASSIVE soil makeover in just a matter of a few months. 🙌
We'll spread this pile, turn it into the soil, wait a couple days for the manure to cool down, then broadcast sow our cover crop seed. A few rains or waterings will sprout a nice stand of green cover crop, which will be left to grow for a few months before chopping it and turning it back into the soil.
Cover crops protect soil in the off months, add nutrients, build soil structure, and increase healthy soil biology!

Let's buy some PLANTS! 🤩
This basket has $8 worth the kale and chard starts in it.. but will end up valuing at over $150 worth the organic kale and chard for me over this winter season in Texas!!!
Plus, is there anything more important than investing in REAL FOOD that heals, strengthens, and enlivens my body, spirit and mind? 💪
Healthy plant starts are KEY to a healthy garden.
Be sure to inspect your plants starts while at the nursery and reject any starts that are sick or bogged down with lots of pest insects.
This kale plant had one tiny cabbage worm that I was easily able to remove... other than that, this plant is healthy and in great shape!! Welcome to the family Mr. Kale 😎

Putting plants through a cycle of stress every day from lack of consistant water is an open invite for pest and disease invasion to the garden! 💦
Pests go after stressed plants.
A major key to success in the garden is to maintain strong, HEALTHY plants! One of the easiest ways to do this is to install a basic irrigaiton system! An irrigaiton system not only delivers CONSISTANT water to your plants but also saves you a TON of time and encourages deeper, more robust root systems in your plants! 🔑
Learn how to install an effective, lasting irrigaiton system into any garden through Teach Me To Grow's online gardening course, The Sustainable Gardener! We take you STEP BY STEP through:
✅Identifying which system will work best for your space
✅Which irrigaiton parts you will need
✅Where to purchase these from
✅How to layout and connect your system from your home spigot to your garden!
Check out the course and ALL of the incredible benefits of learning proper garden set up from a pro. (Hint: Save tons of time, money, and frustration through trial and error by getting step by step guidance all in one place!).

We are made of the same stuff that grows from the ground 🌱
A garden is an opportunity to explore and deepen your connection with Mother Earth. A garden is a special place where you can relish in the sweetness of REAL FOOD. The kind that makes you say "WOAHHHH" and "YEEEHAWW" and "NOW THATS A REAL (enter name of any fruit from the garden)". 💃
Connecting to nature through gardening is a venture worth exploring. Check out The Sustainable Gardener course to guide you in setting up and maintaining an abundant, thriving backyard veg garden at teachmetogrow.com 🚀

Do it for the bees! 🐝
It has been the DEAD of summer out here in Texas (i.e. hot hot hot)... and the garden has barely been producing. But regardless, I keep the basil and squash alive because the bees are ALL OVER THEM! Sometimes... you just have to do it for the bees 💁♀️

Permaculture garden walk through
Permaculture is a way of designing a garden space that takes care of itself. This garden took about 5 years to be nearly entirely self sustaining (minimal water, effort, money input) and produces a wide variety of healthy food from fruit to medicinal herbs. 🌱
