When a has its vest on, it means it’s working. What should you do if you see a service dog?

Do NOT Distract. This means do not pet the dog, talk to the dog, or make direct eye contact. Always talk to the handler, it’s best to just pretend like the service dog isn’t there. Always ask the handler before interacting or approaching!

Autism service dogs! Autism service dogs are trained tasks to aid people with autism. Some tasks can look like behaviour interruptions like hand flapping, skin picking and scratching, deep pressure therapy, and creating space for their handler. While comfort isn’t a recognized task, these dogs also offer that benefit.

Psychiatric Assistance Dogs!

How can they help? RAAD psychiatric assistance dogs, are specifically trained to aid with severe anxiety. They can nudge or paw to interrupt indicators of an oncoming attack, like skin picking, scratching, or leg shaking. They can also be trained to find benches, quite areas of a store, or exits. They will also nudge the handler with their nose, or paw them to interrupt attacks or flashbacks when they see indicators such as leg shaking or hand fumbling.
