First day of pigeons in the launchers for our new guide dog Yogi. It’s been fun to try something new with a different breed. Lots of birds coming his way this season
Penny’s first blind retrieve from some teal I jumped this morning. All the work this summer is paying off
First time seeing a clipped wing at 9 weeks old. High prey drive from the start! One male and one female looking for a new home. Special offer on the male and training packages also available. Message me for further information
Week 3 working on “whoa” with Drip. This is a big advantage while hunting or guiding. I can hold her up if she is on a bird out of range or I can cut her loose to flush the bird if it starts to run.
2 weeks old - Eyes are opening, wobbling around, and starting to play. Goes by so fast!
Buddy has finished the upland program and is now ready to find his new home. 1.5 year old chocolate male. Well rounded dog that will make a great addition to a hunting family. Loves everyone and is great with other dogs. Message me for more details on Buddy
(No sound because the audio was hooked up to a different microphone)
Gabby has a few weeks left of our gun dog program. Here we are working on transitions in cover. She was only a few feet on the wrong side of the wind from stepping on this mark.
We have also been working on longer marks and water marks driving back out onto land. Next will be decoy spreads and layout blinds
Marking drills in thick cover. Everyone’s enjoying the cooler temps!
1 year old chocolate male “Buddy” will be available as a started upland dog by the end of the month. He quarters the field nice without getting too far out of range. Very easy to handle. He’s great with other dogs and people. Crate trained, collar conditioned, through FF. A couple more weeks of quartering and shooting some birds and he will be ready to go
If you know anyone that might be interested in Buddy send them my way!
With only one more day left in the guide season we are switching over to waterfowl training. Penny is transitioning to cold blinds and is doing great
Pile drills are very repetitive and can get boring by the end of summer but after a long winter of upland training, I look forward to switching back into waterfowl training. Drip has built a lot of confidence throughout the guide season and I’m looking forward to seeing how much she can learn this spring and summer
It amazes me how Penny knows how to switch gears when we change games. During a tournament she is lightning fast and it’s hard for me to hold her off of birds. A day later we will be back in the field guiding and she will flag birds like this, so hunters can get into a good position. We are excited to get back into competition mode with 4 events in the next 6 weeks
Two males available and ready to go home this weekend! Great personalities, well socialized, and a phenomenal pedigree. PM me for info
Time is flying by! These guys will be 3 weeks old this weekend. Getting bigger and stronger one wobbly step at a time. I still have a couple available. Feel free to send me a message
Pups are almost 3 weeks old. All eyes and ears are now open and they are now walking and playing. 2 males are still available. Message me for more details!
Quick Penny update - Just gunning down birds like a paid hitman! Looking forward to guiding with her
Mia has been with us for about two months now and she is starting to put it all together. Love how she quarters in range and runs hard
Start ‘em young! Penny might not even know her name yet but she knows to bring a bird back. Awesome to see their instincts kick in at such a young age
8 month old Mia (Stella x Journey) is starting to put it all together. She will be out quartering the fields in no time!
Every dog advances through phases of training at a different pace, but as long as you keep them engaged and make learning fun, the end result is always the same
We’ve only been doing water blind drills for a week since upland hunting all winter. Spending the time to thoroughly teach the fundamentals last year are really paying off!
