This is currently of utmost importance. This is what will undermine our rights to enjoy a sport that is completely (and wantonly) misunderstood. Step up people or you will be left doing ANKC Rally O (for only!!).

The IGP community has been rocked by the draft bill of South Australia.

We cannot understand why a government would single out by name a sport and try and classify all IGP sport dogs as attack dogs.

The IGP sport consists of various phases and elements, with the C Phase focusing on character work.

The South Australian Draft Bill does not differentiate, so if you read the bill, it can include all elements from the Zap test, BH, and tracking."

Some people have said that the bill doesn’t make IGP illegal, so we can still do the sport.

It’s just a classification.

However, I would not be comfortable with that classification.

Most IGP clubs train on council land, parks, etc. When renewing this permission, will the government still allow you to train your "attack dogs" in public parks with their permission?

While you may personally be an IGP super fan and not care as long as the sport goes on, how do you see new people entering the sport with their much-loved dogs and having to accept that doing this sport will classify their dogs as attack dogs?

When your renew pet insurance will they renew your policy on an attack dog? Will the premiums be the same?

Will you need to build an enclosure in your back yard? If you rent will your landlord permit that?

When your dogs IGP career is over he or she will still be classified as an attack dog. Will you be able to sell, rehome or even enter into ANKC sports or others with an attack dog?

How about if you have a neighbour problem and neighbour calls police and says you are keeping an attack dog in residential home and they fear for their safety?

Do you let your IGP dog off leash in public places where off leash is permitted? Think you will be allowed with your attack dog?

Right now the general public believe your a dog sports enthusiast.

What will they think when you're an attack dog trainer?

Who will enforce these laws?
PDTA trainers? Nope
It will be RSPCA, Rangers, DPI.

So you’re in the park running some escape bites with your helper friend.

One of the enforcers sees this and concludes that you are commanding a dog to attack a person.

That will now be a $100,000 fine + 4 years in jail under the new South Australian laws.

Have you thought about why the government did not include other bite sports?

What is the motive behind this?

Who stands to gain the most out of stopping IGP?

I think this bill is a very big concern.

Garsova Wanui (aka Webster) is spending a little time with me whilst his brother gets some time in the city with SAPol. Whilst we continue to work on a number of skills, we also ensure he gets some down time. I think 'pond time' is one of his favourites and it's enabled him to develop his swimming skills. Not sure how that will translate when he's out on the beat. . . but you just never know!
Webster is one of three puppies currently under development with policing agencies. They are grandchildren of one of my earlier imports, Bara Ex-Filio ZVV1 Imp Cz and by the Czech import Bourbon Havlovicky IGP 1 Kkl1 imp Cz (Morekos GSDs).

Busy time for the Garsova "W" litter! Here is young 'Toa at Kinder Garden with members of Tas Police!

Police were on patrol at Glenorchy yesterday with police dog Bernie (he's starting to look like an old man) and 14-week-old puppy Waltou (he's fresh).

Waltou is with us for 12-15 months from South Australia - he's hoping to be a General Purpose Police Dog when he grows up!

PD Boss assisted Police in the Dubbo area with the arrest of two of the five men who have been charged following a pursuit in the region.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders.

On Monday 4 December 2023, officers attached to Operation Regional Mongoose commenced an investigation in into a break and enter at a licenced venue on Merrilea Road, Dubbo.

Three unknown persons, allegedly armed with a weapon, entered the venue and stole a sum of cash, before leaving the location.

Following inquiries, about 8.25pm on Friday 8 December 2023), officers attached to Western Region attempted to stop a vehicle on Myall Street, Dubbo. When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, however, it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns. With the assistance of PolAir, the vehicle came to a stop on Bedford Avenue, where the five occupants fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, two men, both aged 20, were arrested in the carpark of a nearby motel. A short time later, another two men, aged 17 and 19, were arrested with the assistance of the Dog Unit. All four men were taken to Dubbo Police Station where they were charged.

Both 20-year-old men were charged with conspiracy to commit special aggravated break and enter with intent whilst armed with a dangerous weapon. The 19-year-old man was charged with conspiracy to commit special aggravated break and enter with intent whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and aggravated break enter steal whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with conspiracy to commit special aggravated break and enter with intent whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, aggravated break enter steal whilst armed with an offensive weapon, possess prohibited weapon and breach of bail.

Following inquiries, another 20-year-old man attended Dubbo Police Station, where he was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit special aggravated break and enter with intent whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, aggravated break enter steal whilst armed with an offensive weapon, and police pursuit.

All four men appeared before Dubbo Local Court on Saturday 9 December 2023 where they were formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Monday 11 December 2023.

The teenage boy appeared before a children's court today (Saturday 9 December 2023) where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same children’s court on Monday 11 December 2023.

In the early hours of Saturday the 9th Letti gave birth to 5 puppies. One female and five males. Four sables and one black. These are lovely, healthy and robust whelps with great futures ahead of them!
