Today was honestly such a gorgeous day - we headed off to where the sun was shining ☀️

My lovely horses travelled great, unloaded and walked either side of me - I love that they make it easy to bring them anywhere!

We bumped into one of our besties who wished us luck. We caught up with so many lovely people.🥰

After 6/7 months off I managed 3 qualifying scores out of 4 tests - I missed the fourth by 0.06% which is nearly impressive 😂 Oisin and I were second in one class ☺️ congrats to on the win! was in the same boat as me having not competed since last summer and she and her gorgeous Jazz rocked it 🥰 we didn’t do too bad for two spatially challenged rusty riders 💪

Thank you so much for all the help on training on getting my horses going and looking so well! I think we both know after today we will have a few things to work on - I say we but I mean me as all mistakes were mine not the horses!

I also was also utterly blown away by the kindness of two people today. loaned me her stables for the day. Just because she knew it would make my life easier and because she knew I would worry about Oisin missing Sammy in the box (he can be a bit needy 😅) so Lynn being Lynn she just gave me stables for the day. Along with texting me to make sure I got on the road and didn’t get distracted and that I was ok and wish me luck.
As for where do I start?! She looked after me for stables, she loaned me a jacket when I forgot my own (yes I’m THAT stupid), she helped me get ready, she helped me in the warm up, she stood and watched my test, she helped swap over horses - she did all of this for no reason other than she knew I was heading up on my own with two horses and four tests and she wanted to. This is what makes our sport so great - people helping each other up!

After some great fun at (stay tuned for more on an exciting new release!), I hit the road home and I’m ready to go do it all again tomorrow ☺️

Neighbour hood watch earlier 🎃🐈‍⬛

Today, I left the cattens and Chica in while I went to collect Izzy from the airport. When I got home, Chica was chilling in her basket and Pumpkin and JC were missing.

We assumed they were outside somewhere. Except, no one had seen them and hours later they still weren’t anywhere. Pumpkin had bad cat flu when rescued from a ditch at two weeks old and had another bout last year after a soaking so we are careful of her being cold and wet.
So in the torrential rain we went looking for them with the help of and . We were soaked, the dog was soaked. We shouted, shook treats and eventually gave up and hoped they would turn up for dinner.

When I went back inside dripping water as I walked, the little truckers appeared out of nowhere dry as a bone 🤯

They appear to have been in the boiler room. The boiler room which admittedly had the light switched off but which I had already opened the door to and called them!

Swear to god cats should come with a warning label 🤦‍♀️ for anyone about to mention a GPS collar, I have one but it’s not charged so I can’t frickin find it 😂

So thrilled to see that once again Dressage Ireland are encouraging participation in the home nations.

For years I was dying to do this and in 2024 that dream came true. To me it matters because no matter what level you are or what type of horse you have, isn’t it amazing to aspire to compete with the Irish flag on your saddlepad? ☘️ 🇮🇪

A group of us travelled over and made amazing memories. We laughed, we rode, we celebrated. We enjoyed the company of existing friends and made new ones. Mark Ruddock Claire Ewing and Fiona Hayes went the extra mile constantly for everyone to make sure teamwork was at the forefront and that everyone was supported. I’d love to say my biggest memories were of competing but no - it was dressing up as the Olympic mascot and having a dance off with an inflatable unicorn, enjoying epic pies in an English pub, laughing and dancing at music bingo and cheering on one of our top riders as they Irish danced up to the podium.

I’m so grateful to have done it and I’m aiming for it again this year - I’ve no idea if I will make the cut but it’s given me something to aim for! If you are on the fence about it, get off that fence before you get splinters - get your expression of interest in! ☺️🐴

Happy Easter everyone 🐣🐰

Today we had dressage lessons with which was a brilliant reset. The man has the patience of a saint 😅

Oisin was half asleep when I went to tack him up and decided to help himself to the haylage bale after a bath.

Hiccup the yard cat was amusing himself bathing in the water tray 😂🐈‍⬛

Chica and pumpkin kept me company on the yard 🎃 🐶

Ben made a new fabulous fence for us - Oisin was sad that he couldn’t eat it 😂

Ross who had forgotten it was Easter today until last night decided to go and get me an Easter egg, I didn’t fancy his chances but he pulled it out of the bag 👏 I love the popping candy chocolate orange 🥰

Chica 🐶

Bringing me in this evening. She should have been fed an hour earlier but refused to come in for Ross as I was still riding and she hates to leave until she has everyone with her.

She’s a dog that loves her food (well she loves everyone’s food 😂), so the fact she picks me over it reminds me every time of how loyal she is.

Likewise she refuses to settle for the night until we check the horses and insists we follow our established routine for the right order 😅

I’m so lucky to have this little Jack Russel as my friend 🐶💕

I’m sure like a lot of people I started out watching Yellowstone for “the plot”. The Plot being some seriously hot cowboys (honestly I’ve told my husband we both know if we were in Montana I wouldn’t be doing dressage 🤣) and some even more beautiful vehicles (If I ever win the lotto there will be signs, mainly a dodge Ram parked outside my house!).

What I didn’t expect to find in watching this show was my spirit animal - from now on everything I do will be run through the filter of “ what would Beth Dutton do”. Beth is just raw - she’s honest, she’s fierce, she’s brave and quite frankly she’s everything I want to be before I grow old. In a world full of Monica’s - be a Beth.

How gorgeous is this? 😍

I bought myself this from local business I’m delighted Lyndsey has set her shop back up as it’s so handy especially for yard supplies like mounting blocks and leadropes.

I love jewellery but most get wrecked on the yard and I’ve the skin type that removes plating from things (rhodium and gold plating have been absorbed before 😅) so I loved that this is stainless steel so is made to be worn outdoors and while working.

This one was €35., they do a few different types including some with lovely sparkly fabric straps too ✨

Came home yesterday to find JC wearing a price tag. Not sure if he’s grown sick of the madness and put himself up for sale or if he now just identifies as a box from Jysk 😅

Our Story

My aim in life is to be happy. What makes me happy? Horses, dogs, writing, photography and chocolate. Welcome to my world - we’re all mad here.

I use my website and page to document the reality of life with horses - its often hard and frustrating but we equestrians all live for the days where it is rewarding and no matter what is thrown at us most of us wouldn’t change it for the world. Horses are such a passion that they bring together like minded people and my truest friendships were founded upon it. Sharing a laugh or a good day with like minded friends is the cure for many things.

I used to be a very anxious competitor especially over fences. Over the past few years I have really pushed myself as a rider and as a coach. I’ve realised it is never too late to learn or to improve and that there is a lot to be gained from helping others to do the same.

Being a ‘blogger’ often comes with negative connotations and people can be quick to judge or pass remarks. It’s something I’ve made a conscious effort to block out recently as negativity helps no one and someone who judges others has their own issues that you don’t need to be involved in. This is my own journey with horses and if it helps someone else or gives them a laugh then I am delighted. I try to see and bring out the best in my horses and to take every opportunity that comes my way as none of us ever know how many we will get so grab them all with both hands!
