We are a 501(c)3 non-profit feline rescue operating in the Oklahoma City area. We do not adopt out any kittens younger than 4 months of age.
PAWS-OK rescues unwanted or abandoned cats surrendered by citizens in the Oklahoma City area. Our vets test them for Feline Leukemia and FIV, spay or neuter them and bring them up-to-date on their required vaccinations. They are then fostered in a home environment and, when ready, made available for adoption to new loving individuals and families. PAWS-OK is not a shelter and we reserve the right
to deny adoption to individuals with poor vet care histories. The majority of our cats are surrendered to us by their owners and we have a verbal agreement with them to place their cats into homes that meet our adoption guidelines without regard to the length of time it takes to find such homes. Our Adoption Guidelines are also a commitment we make to our volunteer foster parents who can have the final word on adoption approvals. If you are interested in adopting from PAWS-OK, please download an Adoption Request Form from our website at www.pawsok.com. All applications are closely reviewed and references are contacted to determine the appropriateness and pet ownership history of potential adopters. Approvals can take up to 4 days.

ADOPTED! Vic found a wonderful new home in mid-December with a lovely couple from Stillwater who wanted a companion for their older cat, Chloe. His new Dad works from home and mom is a long time cat lover and volunteer. Vic is one of 5 kittens that were surrendered to PAWS-OK by a cat loving couple who got into hot water with their apartment manager over their cat population and were facing eviction. We picked up the kittens and helped the renters get their adult cats (including Vic's mom) spayed and neutered too. At last word, Vic has made fast friends with Chloe. Congratulations to Vic and his new family!

ADOPTED! Trapper found a great new home with a young family from OKC recently. Mom and her two kids came in to look at a different cat but fell in love with Trapper when they discovered his laid back personality fit perfect with her active daughter. Trapper was a stray that wandered into the garage (and live trap) of one of our volunteers when she was trying to trap her own feral for a vaccine update. AT first he was a bit scared but settled down quickly and at his Meet & Greet with his new family, was content to be picked up and cuddled by his new big sister. His new mom says that he likes to play with the kids when they get home from school, but is also enjoys his private time for his kitty naps. Congratulations to Trapper and his new family!

Are you getting your cats annual Wellness Exams? Recently we have seen an uptick in potential adopter beliefs that "indoor only" cats do not need to see a vet for an annual exam and only if the cat is sick. Most vets give non-core feline vaccines (FVRCP & FeLv) based on the cats exposure risks but its important to keep in mind that having a current Rabies vaccine is state law. However seeing the vet each year is not just about vaccines, its about much more! We have had NUMEROUS young rescued apparently happy & healthy cats come into our care with undetected illnesses and conditions that, if left unchecked, would have seriously effected their quality of life. Cats are "experts" at hiding illness! For more information on wellness exams go to https://www.aaha.org/resources/why-are-regular-veterinary-visits-important/

ADOPTED! Tim found a wonderful new home with a father and daughter from Blanchard recently. She had seen Tim in our Adoption Center at PetSmart and fell in love with him and thought he's be a great companion as she starts her first year of college online in the fall. Tim is one of the "Zoo" kittens who was born in a PAWS-OK foster home after his mom, who lived in an OKC Zoo Maintenance Shed, was surrendered pregnant. He is a beautiful tuxedo with long legs, half a mustache and a sweet disposition. Congratulations to Tim and his new family!

ADOPTED! Junebug and Juliet found a wonderful new home together with a nice woman and her son from Warr Acres. Their new mom says they are very playful and full of personality - the "best decision I've made". Junebug and Juliet are two of Joy's kittens that were born in a PAWS-OK foster home one day after we got Joy so they are all very used to being handled and loved. Congratulations to the sisters and their new family!

ADOPTED! Sisters, Josie and Joanna found a home together recently with a lovely family from OKC. They join a family with three kids and a little terrier named Odin so they have plenty of activity and playmates but they still find time to cuddle each day. Josie follows her new mom from room to room and sleeps in the bed, Joanna loves to sit on her new dad's arms neck or chest every chance she gets! These two sisters were born in a PAWS-OK foster home the day after their mom, Joy, was surrendered to us last fall. Congratulations to these cute sisters and their new family!

ADOPTED! Maggie found a wonderful new home with a single guy from OKC. She came to us through a nice lady from the Village who had been caring for her. She took her to the shelter for TNR (thus her left ear tip) and a few days after she was returned she brought the lady 2 kittens! The lady contacted Misfits Mutts and Meows for help but they were full so they reached out to us and we met her, her lovely daughter and Maggie's 2 kittens at A1 Pet Emporium. Maggie's two kittens, Marco and Maisy are still looking for a new home. Congratulations to Maggie and her new daddy!

ADOPTED! Bethany found a wonderful new home with a great lady from OKC recently and is very content in her new home. Her new mom changed her name to Abby to match the white "A" on her forehead and says she is still a little skittish, but when she feels like it, a great cuddler. Abby was rescued with her kittens from the Bethany Shelter last April. Her kittens were sick with URI and the two boys (Bennett & Becket) have found homes. Her daughters (Becky and Bellestar) are still available for adoption. Congratulations to Abby and her new mom!

ADOPTED! Goldie found a wonderful new home with a family from OKC and they just love her despite her reluctance to look at the camera during her Adoption Day Photos! Goldie was rescued as a small kitten from a home in Britton, OK after her mom left 5 kittens in a lady's basement and never returned. Goldie was adopted in May 2021 but was a little to active for the owners and she came back. Then she was adopted to a family in 2022 who had to return her due to allergies. Through all of this she remained sweet and affectionate, knowing we would find her a perfect home and it appears we DID! Congratulations to Goldie and her new family!

We had a busy day taking pictures with Santa PAWS at A1 Pet Emporium (Britton Road) today. We saw many old friends who brought in their favorite four-legged family members for Holiday pictures and made quite a few new ones too. Santa PAWS made a video to let everyone know that you have one more chance to get your pictures taken because he will be back at A1 (same location) next Sunday, Dec 22nd, from noon to 5PM. Please consider coming by! Happy Holidays to you and Yours, from PAWS-OK!
Bethany's Babies
This is our first litter of four month olds who will be available for adoption next week - Beckett, Bender, Bellestar and Becky, born in mid-March. The process for adopting is to first complete an Adoption Request Form. This form is available online at https://form.jotform.com/pawsokrescue/adoption-request-form. The review process for your Request may take several days as we examine your responses and verify the information provided. During this stage, you may be notified via email for clarification of any missing or confusing information. If your request is approved contact will be made with you about setting up a phone interview and then a meeting with the cat.
No matter how many times I see "pouncing kitten behavior" it always makes me laugh... and feel a little sorry for their mom, lol!
I read on another forum that Rescues won't take black kittens... I guess we here at PAWS-OK missed that memo lol!

Our Story
Founded in 2008, PAWS-OK is a small cat rescue whose focus is on helping local citizens who, for personal reasons, must surrender their house pets, or who find friendly cats in their neighborhoods who need homes. In June 2011, PAWS-OK partnered with PetSmart Charities and began offering cats and kittens for adoption in the PetSmart Adoption Center on NW Hwy at Rockwell. The adoption Center is open 9-7 Monday thru Saturday and 10-6 on Sundays.
PAWS-OK rescues unwanted or abandoned cats surrendered by citizens in the Oklahoma City area. They are then fostered in a home environment and, when ready, made available for adoption to new loving individuals and families. We do not adopt out any kittens younger than 4 months of age.
Our Mission: To facilitate the placement of family pets into loving homes for life and to support the reduction in cats-at-large through spay and neuter.
