Even though applications for the 2021 Kaimanawa Muster have now closed, we are still needing homes for mares in order to make the ratios work, of stallions/mares/2-year-olds/yearlings/foals being mustered. Because of this, we are still open to accepting applications for MATURE MARES ONLY.

Acceptance of late applications will be dependent on the region you are applying from and if we will be able to complete your home check-in time.

While the Department of Conservation has recently agreed to only muster the number of horses that have homes waiting for them (meaning the herd will now be left at about 370 this year, rather than 300), it is crucial we get these ratios right as every horse that comes into the yards must have a home to go to.
