…..to the development of a dream and the realisation of a life’s journey. Pearsons View Arabians was established in 1975 when Don and Carmel Rowley, quite simply, fell in love with the Arabian horse. Together they set a goal to connect the beauty of nature with an historic and fascinating breed. Their overwhelming desire to reproduce the desert horse of courage, grace and refinement eventually led

them to Egyptian bloodlines. Now retired from breeding, the memories of over forty years of breeding remain vivid. These days all that was learned and observed concerning the Arabian breed often sneaks itself into the books written by Carmel Rowley.

There are so many incredible reasons to be happy …
Wishing all my fabulous friends and family a happy
and blessed Easter.
"I think of the garden after the rain;
And hope to my heart comes singing,
At morn the cherry-blooms will be white,
And the Easter bells be ringing!"

If you’re fortunate enough to own or breed Arabian horses you quickly learn why so much is written about the great love the Arab had for their horse. I adore poetic words along with the words of wisdom written by people who were often first-hand witnesses to the Arabian horse in its desert environment. What could be nicer than to share the words of one of the most touching and tragic poem written by Caroline Norton …

The White Horse

The youth walks up to the white horse, to put its halter on
and the horse looks at him in silence.
They are so silent, they are in another world.

Let's go back to around 1979. Carmel riding Bremervale Tartuffe (Oxford Decimus x Bremervale Zendi)
Purchased as a foal December 1975 - in those days you had to say yes or no from a photograph. We had visited Bremervale that year on a working holiday around Australia and viewed all those super early horses. If we didn't take him there was already others ready to snap him up!
I love the quote BUT this situation happened yet again with another life changing c**t foal - Simeon Stav (*Asfour x Simeon Safanad) in September 1987!

Is it possible to be involved with something you love and not learn from the past? It seems it is. I found these words written by Richard Pritzlaff of Rancho San Ignacio 28 years ago… They still resonate as if they were written yesterday…
High in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of north-eastern New Mexico, Richard Pritzlaff lived on his centuries-old ranch. For fifty years he bred his beloved Arabian horse’s amidst a backdrop of extraordinary beauty and serenity.
Richard Pritzlaff writes “…I have my own ideas about horses. Some of them are controversial, I’m sure, but here they are ... Read on at the Blog https://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=2001

Special Moments
It’s said that we don’t remember days; we remember moments, a painting, a new car, a puppy or even a house.
What about the thrilling moment when you said ‘yes’ to the purchase a special horse?
One very special horse has to be Simeon Stav dec. (Asfour x Simeon Safanad)
For us there were several moments associated with horses that managed to actually change our life?

I keep reading how taking chances is one of the most crucial ways to further one's skills and gain experience.
These days I can't imagine my life where everything had been the same, easy and most importantly - that nobody failed.
Taking chances became our life motto. We would never have achieved all we've done without risk?

Identify the past for the future.....
Breeding Arabian horses has been such a probing aspect of my life. Over the years I've tapped into the fascinating lives of many past breeders, but two, namely Abbas Pasha and Ali Pasha Sherif affected me deeply.
Without these two breeders it’s unlikely that the hundreds of thousands of Arabian horse lovers around the world would own and love the Arabian horse as we know him today. Read on at my Blog -http://carmelrowley.com.au/blog/?p=4415

I'm beginning to wonder how I found all the energy to write so many blogs. It's appears time purposely slows one down for a small moment the past and the future exist at once in the present.

THE HORSES OF SAINT MARK’S BASILICA
Carmel Rowley
What a busy few months, apart from working on my latest book I’ve been sorting through our house and having a thorough clean up. After living in one place for thirty years you end up finding so much stuff you’ve forgotten about! Last week when I tackled one of the spare rooms I came across about 25 photograph albums.
And what do you do when you find an old photograph album? You look through it don’t you? That was the end of my sorting for the day. Talk about Alice in Wonderland and falling down a rabbit hole.
After lots of sighing over all the memories, our early horses, photographs of us in our early twenties, I come across a more recent album. This album was nearly full of wonderful black and white photographs of a trip I did with a dear friend to Europe back in 2004.
One of the places we visited was Venice. Here I have to mention that I couldn’t resist including a mystery (set in Venice) in book 2 of The Daughters of the Wind series – Voices in the Wind. That I loved Venice is an understatement, to me the history seeped into my feet and travelled all the way up to my brain. The atmosphere fascinated me …

Four decades of Pearsons View Arabians

…..to the development of a dream and the realization of a life’s journey. Pearsons View Arabians was established in 1975 when Don and Carmel Rowley, quite simply, fell in love with the Arabian horse. Together they set a goal to connect the beauty of nature with an historic and fascinating breed. Their overwhelming desire to reproduce the desert horse of courage, grace and refinement eventually led them to Egyptian bloodlines. The everyday life at Pearsons View is shared with nature. At the bird bath in the garden, wallabies can be seen cautiously drinking while every morning the loud raucous songs of the bird life join with the impatient banging of stable doors, and an occasional whinny from the barn. This symphony of nature is easily heard from the house and every day is duplicated within the small world of Pearsons View.
