This is Thor. Thor is an indoor kitty who loves his time outside in his fenced in back yard. I’ve been taking care of Thor and his brother Loki for about 4 years now!
Thor has a few tips for his other outdoor loving pet friends and their owners!
1) it’s getting hot out! 🌡️Be sure adequate shelter is provided as well as a water source that is not located in the sun💧
2) Keep your furry friends up to date on their heartworm, flea and tick prevention! You don’t want any of those pests 🦟ruining your summer outdoors!
3) If you believe an animal is overheating or having a heat stroke, DO NOT provide ice or ice cold water. You can place a towel over the animal and pour cool water over it. It is also highly recommended to seek veterinary attention👩⚕️
4)If you walk your pet, check to make sure the asphalt/concrete you are walking on is not too hot as it can burn their paw pads. Place the back of your hand on the pavement and you should be able to hold it there for 6-10 seconds. If you can’t, it’s too hot for your furry friend’s paws!
5) If you see a pet locked in a hot vehicle, call the proper authorities! 🚔Trying to take matters into your own hands can get you in some serious trouble!
Thor hopes everybody has a great summer and stays safe in the heat! ☀️
