There is never a dull moment with Sasin (or Sassy pants as we like to call her). I rescued Sasin about 2 years ago and we decided to adopt her as our own 😍
ATTENTION ALL CAT LOVERS
I run my rescue a little differently from others, and I wanted to explain how I run it and why.
I do not ask or accept money donations from anyone. I fund this rescue with my own money. I pay for everything that is required for my rescue, I pay for the vet work and rehome them for free.
I have collaboratively worked with other rescues for years now and I have paid for the vet work and only ask for their help to rehome the cats. The adoption fee those rescues charged was 100% profit to their rescue.
If in the future, I do decide I want to accept money donations I will register my rescue as a charity. But for right now, registering for this serves no purpose.
I do this because I enjoy helping the cats of Adelaide. I genuinely enjoy what I do. I love rehabilitating them, taking care of them, keeping them safe and off the streets, and doing rescue missions. My children and I love spending time with the cats, and I am passionate about rescuing as many as I can. These precious babies didn't ask for this life, and I want to give them the life they deserve.
I have contacted the Salisbury Council on numerous occasions to speak about my rescue and how I operate.
I have decided from these conversations that I will be registering as a breeder. In South Australia, to legally sell any animal, whether you intentionally breed the animal or not, you must be a registered breeder. All rescues in SA must provide you with their breeder number when they advertise and sell their animals, and according to the laws of the Dogs and Cats Management Act 1995, all animals sold by a registered breeder must be micro-chipped and desexed *(some conditions apply to the desexing).
Although I do not breed any of the cats, I must still become a registered breeder if I ever intend to sell the cats. I will be registering for this after the financial year.
The adoption fee I intend to charge in the future will be reasonable and will help with the upkeep of my rescue.
