When we get to the farm, the horses come running to greet us. The cows, you don't see.

But, when you're working with horses, they just show up. Looking like this. They silently enter the barn and wait for you to make eye contact. Then give you a "mooooooooooooo" LOL. They wait for you to look before giving the moo. Every. Time. It's really comical.

Went to the farm simply to feed everybody Saturday and what do I find? An emergency vet visit! Yaaaay! Own horses they said. It will be fun they said.

Best we can figure is Waylon and Willie were pretty irritated with each other with Whinney stirring the pot. (Mares, am I right?) Looks to be a kick that actually connected.

Photos are post treatment. Our wonderful local vet STILL makes farm calls for emergencies. He numbed him up, cut the skin flap off and gave us spray to do 2x a day and antibiotics. Hes already on pain meds daily for his feet so that eas good for him. The area of the injury is not one that can be repaired it will just keep tearing apart.

Waylon doesn't do good on stall rest as he gets very anxious. So, we have him with the cows separated from the 3 stooges for now until he heals.

Poor guy just wants to be friends and is too docile to fight back.

The best livestock guardians around! You will absolutely know (and so will your neighbors) when something is in your yard that doesn't belong. This gang prefers to sleep outside either on the fence or in a tree. They are pretty cool creatures.

Stopped in to check out Performance Feeds LLC in Lafayette. NICE store, great selection of feeds, good prices, super helpful team. Happy to have found a feed supplier closer to the farm!
