The Humane Society of Central Texas (HSCTX) has embarked on an exciting new chapter after separating from the Waco Animal Shelter. While we no longer manage shelter outcomes, we remain committed to promoting animal welfare and will be announcing future plans in the coming months. 🥳 It's OFFICIAL! We have our very first kitty graduate in our new chapter as a foster-based rescue!

The famous STINKBUG has been adopted! 😍

It didn't even take the full week "trial" period before they knew he was there to stay FOREVER!!! ❤

We are so happy for Stinky boy & grateful to have been apart of his journey. Happy tails, Mr. Stink! 🐾

Merry Christmas Eve! 🎄

Sometimes you have to spend your holidays taking some cute baby kittens in for an emergency visit 🥲

These babies are all good now. They have been really stressed transitioning into their foster homes, which has led to not eating as much & some dehydration. They’ll be getting fluids every 6-8 hours, got a dewormer, and will be syringe fed to get them all fixed up. 🥰

Thank you to Cottonwood Creek Veterinary Hospital for getting us in on Christmas Eve!

🥳 We have another Homeschool Graduate!

Lava Girl found her FOREVER HOME just in time for Christmas! ❤
She now has a fur-sister named Mushroom and many humans who love her. 🥹

Lava Girl is (what we call) a "slow burner" meaning it takes some a little more time for her to really warm up to new people. Her adopter was patient, though, and she started to come out of her shell to show her loving, cuddly side. Soon enough, a bond formed between her & her adopter. 🥰

A little time & patience is all it takes sometimes when you're bringing in a new pup into the home!

We are so happy for Lava Girl! Happy tails, sweet girl! 🐾😚

Thank you so much to L3Harris Technologies here in Waco!

Not only did they donate lots of pet food and supplies to our food pantry partners at Street Dog Cafe, they also provided us with a $1000 grant that has allowed us to expand our December budget for our Human-Animal Support Services program. 🫂🐾

This time of year is tough for many, even a little bit of support & kindness goes a long way for lots of people. Being provided the opportunity to expand our availability is a BIG DEAL! These donations will allow us to help more folks & their furbabies this holiday season to further support the human-animal bond. ❤🎄

We are so grateful for L3Harris for their generosity! That's what Christmas spirit is all about!

Meet our family of Wizard of Oz characters 😍

This sweet mama dog was found walking along the side of the road after being dumped with her 6 puppies. 😞

Luckily, her finder picked them up and took them in where they are safe & has become their foster mama. 2 of the puppies have already found their forever home through the network of their foster mama, so now we have 4 more puppies waiting on adopters!

Good news is, these little babies have already been spayed and neutered. That means, they are READY FOR ADOPTION immediately! 🙌

Even better? Their foster mama has fallen in love with Mama Dorothy, so Dorothy has found her FOREVER HOME! 😍 We just wanted to show yall her cute face. 🥹

➡️ P.S. Please do NOT dump your animals. We completely understand how hard & overwhelming a litter of puppies can be on top of the already tough world we live in, but please reach out & let us try to help you before you reach a point of crisis. There is absolutely no shame in asking for help when you need it - we get it! That's what we're here for!

Not only is dumping animals illegal (and can lead to a felony offense) in Texas, but it is so dangerous for the animals! Thankfully these babies got a second chance, but that is not always the case. 😞

Even better, prevent a litter by spaying & neutering your pets! If you need help with that, we're also here to help however we can!

🥰 Today we’re celebrating day 6 & day 7 of our 12 Days of Lifesaving campaign (we accidentally missed our day 6 post yesterday — life happens!)

As y’all know, the holidays are about family—whether by blood, chosen, or furry. We believe that every pet deserves a loving family, and your support makes it possible.

😇 For Day 6, we were focused on forever families and the hope of a finding the perfect match —

If you all recall, little Doodle was abandoned in an empty apartment at just 10 weeks old and later diagnosed with parvovirus, a deadly illness for young pups. 😞 Thanks to his fighting spirit and our veterinary partners, he made a full recovery. Now, this sweet boy is ready for a cozy holiday season in a home of his own!

💛 Today, for Day 7, we’d like to focus on our attention pets in their golden years ✨

Senior pets like Molly and Nova have so much love to give but often face challenges finding homes. After being surrendered when their elderly mom could no longer care for them, these girls have been waiting since Spring 2024 for their miracle. 🙏🏻
While not bonded, they find comfort in each other, and we dream of a family opening their hearts to both of these sweet girls. 🫶

Guess who is neutered and ready to leave the nest!

STINKBUG 🥹

This little angel baby has done wonderfully throughout his healing process and is as ready as ready can be to find a home of his own. ❤️

If you’re looking for an affectionate, curious, playful kitten then Stinkbug is the kitty cat for you!

Because of his prior condition, he does get extra water added to his meals to ensure he’s taking in enough fluids. He has been off his laxatives for a couple of weeks now and is doing great.

He’s officially cleared medically & is now completely vetted. 🫶
