This , we’re reaching out to you to help us make a significant impact. We believe that every act of generosity can transform the world.

We are one of the largest Golden Retriever rescues in our nation, rescuing over 300 dogs each year. We are incredibly fortunate to have this amazing community and village that supports us and the work we do. We could not do what we do, saving these precious lives, these Goldens in need, without you and your generosity – whether it’s the financial giving, or the giving of your time to volunteer, foster, or educate, to the acts of sharing information and social media posts, helping us locate dogs that need our help to simply spreading kindness in your community. Its all impactful!

On this GivingTuesday, we hope that you will get involved. Your generosity today will greatly impact our mission and change the lives of hundreds of Golden Retrievers in need and the forever families that adopt them.

Get involved by:

· Donating – no amount is too small

· Become a monthly donor

· Fostering

· Volunteering

· Sharing our campaign

We hope you'll support our initiative by making a donation. Your contribution will allow us to provide the medical care to the pups we rescue. For example, a donation of $150 can provide vaccines, or $750 will cover the cost of spay/neuter for 1 dog, while $500-$3,000 can provide necessary diagnostics to determine what course of treatment needs to be provided. Every contribution will help.

We look forward to your support. Your generosity will make a significant difference in our rescue and inspire others to give.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Cutie, known in the shelter as QQ, one of the senior dogs we recently brought into our care. Cutie crossed the rainbow bridge Saturday.

Sometimes, rescue is about giving a dog a chance at life—even if it’s just a few precious days in a loving home.

After being treated for pneumonia at our vet, we found a foster just before Thanksgiving where Cutie had a l warm, loving place to spend the holiday. Our loving foster not only gave him a soft spot to land but also made sure he was thoroughly spoiled.

Sadly, on Saturday, Cutie took a turn for the worse and we rushed him back to our vet, but his condition had declined too rapidly. Whether due to pneumonia or a fast-growing tumor, Cutie was struggling to breathe. Even if Cutie could have made it through surgery, it would have offered little chance of survival, and we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully.

Just by chance, one of our transport volunteers was at our vet and stayed with Cutie during his final moments, ensuring he wasn’t alone. Her presence meant the world to him and to all of us.

We are so grateful we were able to rescue Cutie from dying alone on the cold shelter floor and while we’re heartbroken that we couldn’t do more for Cutie, we take comfort in knowing his final days were filled with love, care, and kindness.

Run free sweet Cutie. You were loved by so many. 💔😭

We are thrilled to announce that Soju, the last remaining dog that came from South Korea, has been adopted and he went to his PERFECT home!

We had prior adopters apply and who had lost their dog recently and were ready to open their home up again. They have a young boy and a daughter in college, we just loved the idea of young kid running wild with his new buddy and Soju having a little boy to grow up with.

We had the meet and greet and was a done-deal. They let us know that they are IN LOVE and that their little boy and Soju are the best of friends!! This is what we were hoping for and this is exactly what Soju needed!

Happy life sweet Soju!

PSA to help you prep for Thanksgiving to help keep your pups safe and happy

If you plan on gathering with friends and/or family this week for US Thanksgiving, there are a number of things you can do to keep your dog (and your visitors) safe.

Remember, there is nothing "wrong" with your dog if you need to manage amid all the chaos; that is 100% normal. Many dogs don't do well with large gatherings, changes to their routine and all the tempting food readily available.

And, check out this blog post for more info on how you can implement each of these strategies: https://rescuedbytraining.com/2022/11/14/holiday-gathering-tips/

Our alumni Baylor 💙💛💙 and some good info.

Like Baylor, most CROC patients thoroughly enjoy therapeutic massage and stretching BUT it isn't enough to keep Baylor comfortably using his cart at home. Massage and stretching feels amazing and relieves tension by promoting circulation to those tissues, but the exercise that follows is the most important part! In Rehab, the goal is to prep the body and help it perform safe work that improves their comfort and mobility. Massage will not build muscle needed to remain mobile; only exercise will do that!

We are so happy to announce that 10 year old Graham was adopted!

Graham came to us when his owners decided after 10 years, they no longer could care for him. We were stunned and saddened to see in the vet notes they'd actually scheduled to euthanize him. 💔We don’t know what changed their mind and decided to contact us, but we are so happy they did - Graham is such a cool dog and still has so much life in him!

After his vet check, it was determined he has a thyroid condition, ear infections, arthritis and severe periodontal disease requiring several extractions.

In foster care, he lost 8 pounds, received his medication, and supplements and he was feeling much better!

Graham is now living his best life with his new forever family getting all the love he deserves. Happy life sweet Graham!

Sam has found his forever home!

Sam was an owner surrender and so often it’s the best thing to happen to a pup - a chance at a better life. To say Sam needed to be rescued was an understatement as he was brought to SCGRR in the trunk of his owners’ prius.

His new parents to be were so thrilled to come meet Sam - they had lost their golden 4 months prior and found their home to be way too quiet.

The meet and greet went great! They came in, sat down on the ground and boy did Sam love that! He played and cuddled and decided they were his new people!

Sam is now living his best life and loving all the neighborhood kids.

Wylder will be released today!

He happily ate his breakfast this morning and his doctor is happy to send him home this afternoon, as long as he keeps his food down.

Check out the picture below that shows the large river stone and the small chunks of concrete they took out of this poor pup! WOW!

So grateful, with your help that we could save Wylder. He’s so sweet!

Our village is so incredible and we are SO grateful for all of you! Wylder’s surgery and hospital stay is covered. It’s truly amazing how you all come together to support SCGRR and the dogs we rescue!! Thank YOU from the bottom of our hearts!

Wylder did great in surgery. The large river rock was safely removed from his small intestine, the cluster of rocks in his stomach were removed (they appeared to be small chunks of cement), the small screw in his colon will move out naturally. And best of all there was no perforations!!

We should have some updated pics in the morning along with another update.

We believe he’s already feeling better as he was getting a little too lively after coming out of surgery that they had to sedate him a bit. He should be able to get a small meal in the morning.

***Wylder’s surgery and hospital stay is COVERED - Thank YOU!!**

We need your help, Wylder needs your help and is about to go in for life-saving surgery now.

Last night we were contacted by a small local rescue that had been contacted about a Golden a family no longer wanted and at the last minute decided to adopt him to their cousin. Turned out the cousin didn’t want him and this rescue was contacted again, went to meet this pup and saw he was very lethargic, vomiting and was told he hadn’t eaten in a couple of days but was prone to eating rocks, nails, branches, well just about anything. His owners were not going to take him to a vet, they just wanted him out.

We were contacted by this rescue and Wylder’s dad agreed to meet us at the emergency vet to relinquish ownership last night.

This family has a lot on their plate, 4 kids under the age of 10, mom recently received a scary health diagnosis and a pup less than a year old. Tears were shed, paperwork was signed and Wylder is now with SCGRR. I think we can all agree this was the best situation for all and most importantly Wylder is getting the emergency care he needs and we will eventually find him a wonderful home and family that loves him. Wylder will be 1 years old on the 27th of this month.

On arrival, he was taken back on a stretcher for emergency care and assessment. After diagnostics, exam, bloodwork, x-rays, it was pretty clear that Wilder had an obstruction in the lower intestines, which would not move any further on its own. Additionally, there is a screw plus another grouping of smaller rocks further up in his abdomen. The surgeon determined we would give him fluids, pain meds, plus anti-nausea meds to keep him comfortable overnight and would repeat diagnostics first thing in the morning to determine next steps.

This morning, as expected, the diagnostic showed that that large rock has not moved and so far it doesn’t look like the small intestines have perforated, but we will not know until the surgeon opens him up. If there is a perforation, the small intestines will need to have a portion removed and get resected.

Right now, the estimate is between $10,000 and $14,000. Granted this does not include our rescue discount, nor does it include his follow up care.

Wylder really needs your thoughts, positive vibes, prayers that the surgery goes well, there’s no complications and that his small intestines are not perforated. He really is still just a puppy at just under a year old, he has his whole life ahead of him.

If you would like to help with Wylder’s life-saving medical care, please make a donation to SCGRRescue - no amount is too small and every single dollar adds up. Thank you so much in advance for your donations and for keeping Wylder in your hearts and in your thoughts.
