🥳 Adoption Celebration: Calli is Home! 🥳
We have some wonderful news to share! Our sweet Cali (now Calli) has officially been adopted through our Foster With the Intent to Adopt (FWITA) program by her amazing foster parents!
Calli came to us as an Owner Turn-In (OTI). Her previous owners stated mild allergies, a baby on the way, and not enough time as the reasons for surrendering her. Unfortunately, the initial turn-in form was filled out in haste and painted a challenging picture, claiming "no children," "barks excessively," "doesn't like car rides," and "doesn't do well with other dogs." This made finding a foster for Calli incredibly difficult!
The True Calli
Thankfully, after our volunteer asking more and more questions, the true Calli began to emerge. We were sent photos of her with children and found out she had spent time enjoying doggy daycare. She also absolutely loved car rides! While much of the negative information on the form was inaccurate, the note on excessive barking was definitely true. Even with walks, playtime, and tons of stimulation, Calli barked at everything—and everyone—even at night.
Most people would have given up, but not these two.
They signed up for the FWITA program and, seeing past the daunting form, were determined to give Calli a chance. They already loved her and were committed to helping her work through whatever trauma was causing this behavior. With the incredible advice, training, and support from one of our truated trainers, they dedicated themselves to understanding and managing Calli's barking.
A Journey to Health
Calli’s journey had another hurdle: at her initial vet appointment, she was diagnosed with chronic anemia. This required a urinalysis and medication, delaying her spay surgery. The FWITA fosters remained patient and dedicated, following every medical instruction. Once all her tests came back clean and she was healthy, Calli was finally able to get her spay!
A Testament to True Rescue
The fosters, now loving adopters embody what it means to be true rescuers. With a combination of love, patience, and dedication to training, they have provided the ideal environment for Calli to blossom. They didn't just provide a home; they provided a strong support system that allowed a dog who was initially labeled as "too much" to finally find peace and happiness. Calli is a completely changed dog, and it's all thanks to their efforts!
Calli's story is a beautiful reminder that every dog deserves a second chance, and with the right people by their side, anything is possible. We wish her a lifetime of quiet nights, happy car rides, and endless love.
