Zelda is a super star ⭐️

Zelda is our Director's Red-Fronted Macaw that does programs with us! She made a special appearance at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park and demonstrated her flying skills as well as her absolutely gorgeous colors! Red-Fronted Macaws are a critically endangered species. Thanks to educational programming, people are learning more about how they can be protected.

Meet Rheya and Peewee my clients for the day. They are absolutely beautiful. Rheya is a pionus parrot, and peewee is a lovebird. Their mom provides positive reinforcement training, pellet and chop diet, and lots of enrichment. It was so much fun working with these two beautiful birds today.

We love Zelda! 🦜

Last night, we were invited to attend the Denver Apartment Association's annual gathering. The theme of the year is Navigate so they had a "pirate" party and invited Zelda! Folks were able to get their photo taken with her. The nice officers that were providing security at the venue were trying to sneak pics of her, so we invited them in for their photo! Needless to say, they were super excited to meet her! Zelda is a Red-Fronted Macaw which, sadly, is an endangered species. She helps us with our conservation talks!

This is Merlin a clients Senegal parrot. His owner is doing a great job practicing station training, target training, providing enrichment, providing outdoor time, and doing a great job with a diet change. Merlin gets pellets and chop in the morning, and nutriberries in the PM. I’m very proud of the progress with both the owner and Merlin.

Our Founder, Devin, teaching about Ojai, the Great Horned Owl! Looks like they're both speaking at the same time.....Ojai's nesting tree was cut down and he and his siblings were taken to Raptor Conservation Alliance! They're our Nebraska partners! His siblings were able to be released, but Ojai decided he liked to hang out with humans (human imprint) and was transferred to Devin to learn to hunt. The Ferruginous Hawk is the largest Buteo here in North America! With feathers going all the way to their toes, a huge mouth, and striking coloration, these Hawks are an iconic prairie species. Did you know they frequent our area here in Fremont County? We even have a dark morph that hangs around our facilities! Storm, our Ferruginous Hawk, poses for a picture by Eric Gofreed.

Our most recently macaw and African Grey Rescue! All 3 birds depicted are in their new cages with fresh food water and enrichment. I am very thankful for my friends who are qualified parrot owners. My friends have given these beautiful birds permanent homes!
