Can you lend a helping paw? 🐾 Donations of dog & cat food are urgently needed to help families in need keep their beloved pets at home, where they belong.

By providing essential pet resources like food, we can help prevent pets from entering shelters and ensure they stay with the families who love them. Every donation makes a difference—not just for the pets, but for their people too. ❤️

🦴 How You Can Help:

Donate unopened bags of dog and/or cat food at our shelter, 4710 State Highway 151. Every bag helps keep pets and their families together. (treats welcomed as well!)

With your support, we can make an impact for families throughout San Antonio.

A Holiday Miracle: Rosie is Back Home After 3 Long Years! ❤️ 🐾

In mid-December, the J family received a call they had almost given up hope on—their beloved Rosie had been found! Without hesitation, the J family dropped everything and rushed to ACS.

Rosie, now 10 years old, was adopted by the J family as a puppy in 2014. After escaping their yard, she had been missing for three years. But this holiday season, Rosie is finally back where she belongs—home with her loving family.

San Antonio Residents: Reunions like Rosie’s are made possible thanks to microchips! You can ensure your pet always has a way back to you by visiting one of our weekly vaccination and microchip clinics or scheduling a free microchip appointment at saacs.info/microchip.

After overcoming injury, Trevor is ready to find a loving home where he can relax and continue to heal.

Trevor was found in early December by a caring resident after being injured, possibly in an animal attack. Knowing Trevor needed help, the resident called 3-1-1 for assistance, and Animal Care Officer Lucas brought him to ACS. Once here, our veterinary team provided much-needed care.

Over the past month, Trevor has been receiving the TLC he needed and healing nicely. Now, this friendly, affectionate cat is ready to find his furever family! Trevor is a total sweetheart who loves pets and attention and is looking for a human companion to curl up with on the couch while binge-watching their favorite shows.

He’s searching for a loving home where he can stay safe indoors, continue his recovery, and soak up all the love he deserves. Could he be your new best furiend? Visit ACS and meet Trevor today! 🐱💖

All healed up, Angel is looking to complete your family!

Back in September, Angel faced a terrifying ordeal when he was attacked by a pack of dogs that escaped their yard. Found lying on the ground and covered in wounds, Angel needed medical attention. Thanks to the swift actions of Animal Care Officers Duran and Stoner, he was brought to an emergency vet clinic and later transported to ACS’s veterinary clinic for continued medical care.

While Angel began to heal physically, his spirit remained gentle and loving. Officer Stoner couldn’t stop thinking about this sweet older pup and decided to foster him, giving Angel the safe, quiet space he needed to recover.

Now, three months later, Angel has blossomed. His wounds have healed and he’s ready to find the furever family who will love him as much as he loves them. Angel enjoys carrying squeaky toys with him wherever he goes, cuddling, and playing with his furry foster siblings. While he has moments of playful energy, he’s also a pro at lounging around the house—whether it’s a cozy box, a comfy bed, or your couch, Angel is happiest simply knowing he’s safe and loved.

After all he’s been through, Angel deserves a loving home to spend the rest of his golden years in. Could you be the one to give Angel the happy ending he’s been waiting for?

If you’re ready to add Angel to your family, email our team at [email protected] to learn more about adopting him!

A week ago Monday, when Animal Care Officer Vega was off duty, they spotted a tiny kitten running away from a couple of dogs. Without hesitation, Officer Vega jumped into action and safely scooped up the little one, ending the chase and giving this kitten a chance at a better life.

This brave kitten, now named Oreo, was brought to ACS, where he found his forever home with the K family—on the very same day! 🏡❤️ Oreo’s journey may have started with a bit of adventure, but it ended with the love and safety he deserves.

A huge thank you to the K family for choosing to adopt a shelter pet in need and giving Oreo the loving home he deserves! We wish Oreo and his new family many years of happiness, cuddles, and purrs. 🐱💖

Thank you, Officer Vega, for making sure Oreo’s story had a happy ending!

Holiday Cheer, One Meal at a Time! 🐾🎄

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for Amanda and her incredible group of family, friends, and coworkers who came together to bring the spirit of the holidays to our shelter pups in the most delicious way!

This amazing team prepared hundreds of home-cooked meals for our dogs, making sure each one felt extra loved this season. 🐶🍴 Amanda, who volunteers with multiple local animal organizations, has a huge heart for pets in need. Wanting to give back in an even greater way, she rallied her loved ones to share her passion and make this beautiful gesture a reality.

Thanks to Amanda and her crew, our pups enjoyed a holiday meal filled with love, warmth, and kindness. 💕✨

From the bottom of our hearts—and from all the wagging tails—thank you, Amanda, for being such a shining example of compassion and community! 🐕❤️

A huge thank you to ACS Alum, Jazz, and her amazing family for making our Home for the Howlidays Adoption Fair extra special! 🐕✨

The E Family adopted Jazz from ACS back in 2020. Since then, they have frequented our events to show off how incredible shelter pets are and encouraging others to adopt as well.

So, when they arrived at our Home for the Howlidays Adoption Fair, they generously donated dozens of handmade ornaments to be given to newly adopted pets and their families. These thoughtful gifts were the perfect way to celebrate the start of their new lives together. 🏠❤️

Jazz, you and your family are truly incredible, and we’re so grateful for your kindness and creativity. Thank you for helping spread holiday cheer! 🐾🎁

THANK YOU to Our Amazing Volunteers! 🌟

This year’s Home for the Howlidays Adoption Fair was a resounding success with more than 100 pets finding homes, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers! 🎄🐾

We want to give a special shout-out to Lackland Air Force Base, the City of San Antonio - Municipal Government, and the volunteers from our local universities for lending their time, energy, and passion to help pets in need. With the help of 60+ volunteers, we were able to make this event truly unforgettable.

From setting up decorations and assisting potential adopters to caring for our furry friends, your dedication is what helps us save lives and find homes for pets who deserve all the love in the world. 💕

Thank you for making a difference and helping bring joy to both pets and families this holiday season! 🐕🐾🐈

Profit over pups. It’s an ongoing problem making San Antonio’s animal issues even worse.

Backyard breeders who prioritize profit over an animal's well-being flood the community with unsterilized, unvaccinated, and, in many cases, unhealthy animals.

That's why a task force of Animal Care Services officers raided a hot spot for illegal puppy sellers near Poteet Jourdanton Highway this weekend. 24 puppies were seized in the enforcement action, and 21 criminal citations were issued in today's initiative.

It is against the law for pets to be sold on the side of the road, in parking lots or other unauthorized spaces. By law, any breeder who sells directly to the public (in person or online) must have and display all required litter and seller permits in their advertising.

Unsterilized and unvaccinated animals should take advantage of city vaccination and sterilization resources, which can be found at saacs.net. ACS plans additional raids on illegal sellers in the new year.

All you need this holiday season is a little Miracle!🎄

This is Miracle, the sweetest, most playful kitty you'll ever meet! This brave girl came to ACS back in October with injuries that would have stopped most in their tracks. But not Miracle—she's a fighter with a heart full of love!

After overcoming health challenges and losing her sight, Miracle has proven that nothing can hold her back. She’s as playful as ever, batting around her favorite toys and chasing her ball like the spirited little athlete she is.

Don’t let her lack of eyesight deter you! Blind kitties are just as capable as sighted ones. They thrive with slow and gradual introductions into new environments. Using their hearing, sense of smell, and whiskers, they are often able to expertly navigate around and do all the things normal cats do.

Miracle is now ready for her next big adventure, finding a loving, permanent home where she can shine bright like the star she is. Stop by and meet this incredible kitty today. With our Holiday Weekend waived adoption fee special going on, now is the purrfect time to adopt!❤️
