It never occurred to me until tonight that I often share my rules and regulations on here and, in the paperwork you receive when booking. But, I have never given you an explanation as to why such rules are in place.
I am sorry for that, so here are the WHY'S of the rules and regulations.
-Vaccines
Why?
Not only to keep your dog safe, but to keep the others boarding and my own protected from sickness.
-Times
Why?
I provide you with a drop off and pick up time for many reasons. The foremost reason being, when each dog is dropped off they must be kenneled to avoid altercation with others. So, if times are spread out all day, the dogs wait all day. That is not fair to them! For every hour they wait, it feels like 4 hours to them. I condense my drop off/pick up times to an hour with dogs coming and going every 10 minutes.
Why do I ask you wait in your car and do not ever approach the door or fence?
If you show up unexpectedly and no one is kenneled for drop off/pick up time, it causes the dogs distress and that is when fights occur.
Times are in place for all of the dogs safety and my own.
-Hours
STRICTLY 6:00am-6:00pm 7 days a week.
Why?
These are very long days, by 6am I have already been outside with dogs for an hour and after 6pm I do no less than 1-2 hours of cleaning and sanitizing every night of the week, making it a 15 hour day for me.
I still have my family, my home and yard to look after beyond working.
I do not answer calls or texts from 6:00pm-6:00am.
Food
Why?
I ask for it to be in a sealed and labeled container and ask for no bags of dog food for two reasons. One being limited space, I am set up for each dog to have space for their food container and personal items.
The other reason being to avoid food mix ups as many dogs have allergies and I would hate for them to get sick from accidently having the wrong food.
No Toys or Bones.
Why?
Simple, they cause fights.
No intact males or females in heat.
Why?
Again, it causes aggressive behavior.
Charging for no shows and last minute cancelations.
Why?
No shows and last minute cancelations leaves me with no income and not enough time to rebook someone on the wait list as they have already found alternate care.
If this happens three times from the same dog household, I do not book them again.
If you made it this far reading through all of that, thank you! And thank you for your support. I hope this sheds some light on why I have these rules in place.
I appreciate all of the business and support I receive. And this "job" has saved me in more ways than one. You guys are awesome!
