Please take this seriously:

All animals can carry mites, fleas, & diseases so wear gloves. And unless you are actually Snow White, a wild animal that approaches you needs help. Proceed with caution and follow the advice of wildlife professionals.
Facts:
Putting water in a birds mouth can literally cause them to choke to death.

Not all birds eat worms.

Domesticating a fawn by bringing it in your home to “help it” is a death sentence.

If you give a baby squirrel or bunny the wrong kind of milk, you can make it so ill that it will take days for a rehabber to stabilize.

Baby opossums do not suckle; they are attached to a feeding tube inside their mom so you can’t feed with a bottle.

Some animals require rehydration before they can be fed.

Turtles live in a 1 mile radius their entire lives.

Baby birds can get food lodged in their throat and suffocate.

If you use the wrong kind of syringe/nipple and feed a baby animal too fast or too much, it will aspirate and die.

Ducklings can drown.

The animal that you just found doesn’t “like you”, he’s in shock and afraid to move.

Baby animals can’t have breast milk.

Everything we tell you is for a reason.

Please contact a Wildlife rehabber to give the animal the best chance at life. ❤️

Barkley is feeling MUCH better & SO happy to not have anything hanging under him!!

Well we’re off! The animals left with the transport truck about an hour before we did, we left with all the accessories & cages about 515. Taking the birds and some tortoises to their new home in PA! Wish us luck, keep us in your thoughts for safe travel and for the animals and their wonderful new life!

We are SO grateful to Irene Williams Rice & Katie Maleckar for coming out yesterday to help Chester! They administered fluids and upon exam it looks as if Chester may have some head trauma. He is on his way to Dr. J at Ark animal and hopefully will know more soon. Keep him in your thoughts!

#day9of25 Malone and Nellie are skinny pigs that were bred for lab testing in Canada. They’re a hybrid mix not found in the wild. A lady in Charleston bought a female at a pet store without knowing she was pregnant. 4 babies were born, 2 of which are at SC CARES! Malone and Nellie live on pellet food and Timothy hay. Because all guinea pigs are insufficient in vitamin C, they receive a bell pepper every night (which is the highest fruit or veggie with vitamin C). They also like treat days, where they get parsley or carrots! Donating to Malone and Nellie will help to provide them with their daily diet and pay for the comfy towels they get in their enclosures. #hairlessbutcuddly #25DaysOfCares
