OUR VITAL BOARDING SCHEME NEEDS FOSTERS & ADOPTERS 🐶❤️‍🩹

Did you know that we currently have more than 25 dogs in boarding? Every one is sponsored by people like you.

But with a lack of foster homes & sponsorships running out, we’re at a critical point. Without new sponsors, we will be forced to choose which dogs have to return to the shelter which would be devastating 💔

Think of our boarding scheme like a half way house. We rescue from the streets & bring them to the shelter. Then, when they have a sponsor, they move into boarding in Dubai - it’s much more comfortable for them & allows potential families to easily meet them 🤞

It also means that when dogs have been in homes & their foster period is over, the rug isn’t taken completely out from under them & they can stay in comfort in Dubai whilst they search for a home, rather than going from home to shelter, which would break their hearts 💔

This scheme is INVALUABLE. We think that since it was launched in partnership with the amazing .ae, foster & adoptions have increased around five times. That’s insane! And we’re so thankful 🫶

But we can’t do it without sponsors. Sponsorship is 600 dhs for two weeks or 1,000 dhs for a month - significantly cheaper than ANY market rates.

Sponsors receive a certificate, updates & can visit their dog anytime, through appointment.

Right now, we’re nearly out of sponsors. Please don’t make us choose dogs to return to the shelter. This is their temporary home & they will be devastated 😭

These dogs also can’t live in boarding forever. And they shouldn’t have to. They’re all amazing & are only there because someone chose another dog.

You can meet them any day, any time. Just fill the form, get pre-approval to meet SO many amazing dogs who would love their chance. Many have already been in homes previously. All are deserving of love & a family ❤️

JUNIOR FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - JENNY ❤️

We cannot believe this beautiful girl is now over 6 months old and still hasn’t been snapped up. She’s grown into a stunning pup - once pure white as a smaller pup, she has now developed a beautiful grey-black coat on her back making her so unique 😍

Jenny has had a couple of lovely foster homes where she has learnt so much. She has lived with children and is great with them - she is calm and quiet, happy to play, happy to snuggle, happy to chill ❤️

She has also lived with other doggies and does well (she’s enjoying attending daycare too!) but she’s also perfectly happy as an only doggy. She’s absolutely fine being left alone and is just an easy little doggo to have around 🥰

This girl isn’t just sweet and beautiful, she’s one smart cookie too! She is toilet trained, walks well on a leash and knows a few of the basics like sit 🌟

Jenny will do well in most homes. And anyone would be lucky to have her. Her brothers are adopted now and we honestly do not know why she hasn’t caught anyone’s eye! Look at her! Let’s find Jenny her people 🥰

FOSTER OR ADOPT A JUNIOR - FUN, CUTE, FRIENDLY & TRAINED! 🐶❤️

Ourjuniors are all between 6 and 12 months and they are a FANTASTIC option for SO many homes 😍

Small puppies are REALLY hard work. Totally worth it. But seriously, they can be little devils at points and we don’t usually recommend for homes with small children or first timers unless you’re willing to put in lots of time and effort 🥰

Our juniors are still fun, cute, friendly and keen to learn. But they’ve mostly all had some training in a home and they’re out the worst of the puppy nipping stage, so a much better fit if you want a cutie already on their journey to being the best doggo. And they can start to be left alone for periods too so you don’t need someone around ALL the time like you do with a small pup ☺️

We seem to have so many junior males that no one wants to give a chance! We know the idea of having a teenage boy living in your home might not be the most appealing...

But we promise, our juniors doggies smell and behave a lot better than their human counter parts! They also won’t talk back and will still let you cuddle them 😁

Trooper is another one of our long timers that has been waiting YEARS for a home. We think he’s given up on ever being given a real chance. And that’s just so sad when he has so much love to give 😭

You should see how excited & happy he is when he sees aunty Monique who owns .ae because it’s the person who has most consistently shown him love in his life. That’s how long he’s been boarding there. It breaks our hearts 😞

A firm favourite with our supporters & volunteers, Trooper hasn’t had an easy ride this far. He’s now 4.5 years old now & been with us since an older pup 😞

He’s a lovely, sweet, friendly boy & so handsome - his smiley face & wire hair is ADORABLE 🥰

He will do best in a villa, ideally living with another dog but he would also be ok as an only dog or in an apartment with regular daycare.

He’s lived with children & cats before and does great with them 🥰

Trooper is a ladies man & gets very attached to the ladies in the home so he needs someone who will set him boundaries & not pamper him too much… we know it will be hard when he’s this beautiful 🥺

He is good with men too but will need time - once he trusts you he is so incredibly loving ❤️

In fact, all Trooper needs is time. He will be overwhelmed those first weeks. He will need patience & guidance. But once he gets into a routine & he knows the people in the home, he’s going to be really amazing. He has SO much love in him. And he is so desperate for someone to take a chance on him & to not give up at the first sign of any challenges 🥺🥺

We just have to get this boy into a home! Don’t let him waste his life in a kennel, please 🙏

WHEN THE COMMUNITY WON’T HELP US FEED THEM 💔 - THANK YOU TO .uae ❤️‍🩹

We’ve made a number of pleas for food since the start of this year. Our food store had been nearly empty after a very tough December when so many travelled or were distracted by festivities and celebrations. We waited it out as best as we could, thinking come January things would get better. But January has honestly been RUBBISH 💩

We keep asking you for help. We keep begging for very basic things we need to run a shelter that is home to more than 600 dogs and 150 cats - food, vet bills. So very few people even bother to share posts let alone help. It’s always the same amazing few people.

We keep asking you to please consider fostering or adopting because we are full beyond capacity and struggling to help those than need us. Instead, our boarding slots are fuller than ever (with no one offering to sponsor them either) and the offers of homes are few and far between (those that do come mostly requests breeds or small dogs).

How do we continue like this? We are 100% community run, entirely reliant on the public ‼️

So, THANK YOU to the team at .uae who heard our desperation and couldn’t see the animals in the shelter and on the street starve. We know you have your own struggles too and you still helped us anyway. We truly could have cried when that van arrived ❤️

We are forever grateful for your support. Embarrassed we have to ask. Wishing we weren’t put in that position through a lack of support. But so thankful you are able to say yes, if no one else will 🫶

This food will last a couple of weeks with the additional rice and meat we cook.

Please! Be the community we know you are, the community you used to be. Support the animals! Support the shelters! Otherwise what happens to all those innocent lives? ❤️‍🩹

Our wonderful, unique, calm, cat and dog friendly Tamanna (or Tammy for short) is absolutely LOVING life in a foster home… because a home is where she belongs! 😍

But we would love her to find her forever because despite every one of her foster absolutely adoring her, it’s always been temporary, so she’s waited more than 2 years for a forever home 😱 More than 800 days. For absolutely no reason other than she hasn’t been chosen 🥺

So why should you choose Tammy? Well, she’s just the sweetest! Sure, she’s shy & nervous at first, particularly of men. And she doesn’t like adoption days very much as they can be overwhelming. But once in a home, once she knows she’s safe, she’s a silly, loving and sweet girl ❤️

Tammy loves to run and play in the dog park. She does great living with other doggies too - they give her confidence and bring her out her shell faster. We also think she’d do well on her own, she may just need a little more time to show you how silly she is 😁

Tammy is living with older children and loves them. She’s also lived with cats and not bothered at all. She’s calm and respectful with everyone she meets ❤️

This girl is also toilet tandosned in both an apartment and villa, walks well on a leash with some encouragement and listens well. Because if she trusts you, she adores you. And she just wants to make you happy, always ❤️

Please help us to make Tammy happy. She really will be heartbroken to go to kennels. And she really, really deserves to find her people! If you can offer their a foster home or would be interested to start a trial adoption, please fill the form today 🥰

Can’t make our regular events or you don’t want to wait until then? No worries! We arrange meets with many potential families and dogs throughout the week - your own private meet and greets at a day and time convenient to you 🐾

The process is the same and it’s always simple and transparent 🤩

2️⃣ Book a call with our team to chat through your form and give you a chance to ask us questions. If everything is ok on both sides, you’ll be pre-approved ✅

3️⃣ Meet the dogs. We’ll make some recommendations for you based on the information you’ve provided us. Having rehomed hundreds of dogs, we like to think we’re good matchmakers 😁

Meet the dogs at our weekend events, at .ae anytime (by appointment) where ~30 of dogs are waiting or individually in their foster homes

If you fall in love, you’re good to go and can start your foster or adoption journey there and then 🤩

Anyone is welcome to attend our adoption and foster events - the more the merrier! But only those that are pre-approved are guaranteed to be able to take a dog home on the day - we will always try and have a chat through your application at the events but it is resource dependent so we ALWAYS recommend pre-filling the form and booking a call ahead of the event to avoid disappointment 😊

Well the good news is that all of these amazing dogs have previously lived with cats or are so little they will learn to be besties! 😻

DESPERATE PLEA FOR A SPECIAL FOSTER HOME - AAHVA ❤️

If you were to ask us which of our dogs in Dubai are in most need of an experienced foster, which dog no one else will give a chance? All our volunteers in unison would say Aahva 🥺

But we know there are amazing people out there that look to help the underdogs. Fosters who are experienced in building up the shyest of dogs. Homes occupied by wonderful people willing to give their time, patience and love to dogs that may never get a chance from anyone else. And we’re just praying, with your help, we might be able to find them ❤️‍🩹

Aahva is now 2.5 years old. Aahva has spent 18 months of that life on our boarding scheme at .ae. He has never once experienced a home 😞

He is a painfully shy dog. One of the shyest we’ve ever seen and we’ve dealt with a lot of shy dogs. In 18 months in boarding, he is still wary of everyone. But doesn’t he deserve a chance to build trust in a home? Doesn’t he deserve to understand he is safe and that he is worthy? Doesn’t he deserve someone to put in the time and patience with him? We think he does. In fact we know he does. We wish we had the resources to do it ourselves. But with more than 600 dog in our care, it’s just not possible for him to get the one on one care he needs and deserves.

Aahva needs a quiet, calm, understanding and secure home. He does like other dogs and likes to play with them. He also likes balls and toys.

He is a medium sized doggie with unique markings. He is a sweet boy with no signs of aggression. He is just so very painfully shy. But he needs a chance at life. Please. He cannot spend his life in boarding.

Our only other option at this point is to send him to the shelter. But what life will that be? All his siblings have been adopted. He will lose any progress or confidence he’s built, even if it’s only small steps. And realistically, he will spend his life there. If no one wants to give him a chance whilst he’s in Dubai, no one will give him a chance straight from the shelter.

So this is a desperate, heartfelt plea. And we really are feeling desperate for poor Aahva 💔

FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - BUZZ ❤️

When we posted a round up of some of our GORGEOUS shelter dogs recently, one was very popular… and when you see this scruffy boy, it’s easy to see why 😍

Now, Buzz is at the vet in Dubai after a medical procedure and we are hoping we can find him a foster home so he doesn’t have to go back to the shelter! 🤞

Buzz is around 2 years old and like so many, a recent rescue from the streets of the UAE. He has a long wire haired fluffy coat and looks not too dissimilar to a ‘labradoodle’ - so yes, like them, he’s a mixed breed 😁

He has been a little stressed since being rescued but is starting to settle. He will need a calm and understanding home to show him he is safe and that everything is ok. We’ve told him he has a wonderful new life ahead of him so his expectations are high 😂

He does ok with other dogs with the right introductions but he can be a little defensive at first, it’s not aggressive, just stemming from him fear, so we’d prefer he was an only dog for now so we can learn a little more about him in a home. We think he could be absolutely fine with other dogs in future 🐶

He is a sweet boy with a lot to learn but it’s going to be so worth it. Seeing this fluffy, sweet face smiling at you when you wake up or come home is going to make your heart burst ❤️

Can you please help to keep Buzz out of the shelter? He has so much potential. He just needs some love and care to help him blossom 🙏

This handsome, smiley and lovely boy is Shadow and he would love to get back to snoozing on the sofa in a home! He’s a total joy and easy doggo to have around and he doesn’t want to spend a day more than he has to in kennels! 🙏

Shadow has just turned one! We had been sure he’d of found his home by now as he’s so lovely but there must be something special out there waiting for him that’s just taking a little longer to align because he deserves nothing less than amazing 🥰

Shadow was in a foster home for a number of months and his foster Dad adored him. Shadow is happy to be independent - loves his toys, ok to be left alone (was in an apartment and no barking 🙌) and he thinks naps are life 😂

He also LOVES to be around you when he’s able. Shadow by name, shadow by nature. If you’re down for cuddles, this boy is there. Time for a walk? He’s a good boy on the leash too! 🥰

And it’s not just his family he loves. Shadow is great with other dogs. A playful, happy teenage boy, he could run and play for hours. He does fantastically at daycare which is great to help you manage (remember, it’s free for our fosters!).

This boy is also good with children - he’s cuddly, calm and well behaved 🥰

Shadow is a little nervous of new people coming into the home but his foster was seeing good progress with this - treats, consistency and reassurance will ensure he can overcome this quickly ✔️

Shadow has now been in boarding a while and is desperate to get back into a home. Such a good and handsome boy, please help us to get this boy back on his favourite sofa ❤️

Without foster homes, they will grow up without knowing a home. Please don’t let that happen! 🙏

Puppies are not only adorable, they’re a lot of fun and cuddles too! But they are hard work too - they need someone around a lot and continuous training. They will poo, p*e, chew and play bite at first!

Our puppies are available for rehoming from 10-12 weeks. They are all happy, vet checked and health, microchipped and ready to start a new life 🥰

We are in desperate need of temporary foster homes and loving forever homes for our gorgeous puppies ❤️

PUPPY FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - COOPER ❤️

Cooper is a great older puppy. Like REALLY great! He has such a lovely nature. He is confident, friendly and sweet. He loves to play but he’s not too boisterous. Just really lovely boy who is growing into a well behaved and loving doggo 🥰

He has been living in a wonderful foster home with one of our amazing regular fosters and they can’t sing his praises highly enough. Living with his best bud, a golden retriever, he is all fun and games and then they snuggle together. He’d be a really great second dog or is confident enough to be an only dog too 🐶

His training is progressing well too! He’s good on a leash and getting there with his potty training. He’s still only young so like all dogs will need continued guidance and training but he has built a great foundation ⭐️

Cooper only has until next weekend in his temporary foster. We need to find this amazing boy a new foster or ideally his forever home. Don’t miss out on bringing Cooper into your home and life 🥰

2. NO VET BILLS ✅

Vet bills are covered by us at Petzone Vet on SZR in Dubai

3. SUPPLIES PROVIDED ✅

All dogs have a harness & leash. When available (depending on donations), second hand beds, crates & pens can also be provided.

4. FREE DAYCARE ✅

Dog House in Al Quoz kindly offer our fosters free daycare and discounted boarding and transport rates. Bed & Biscuits in DIP 2 also offers discounted rates for our dogs 🐶

5. ACCESS TO A BEHAVIOURIST ✅

Zoom sessions & Whatsapp advice from a professional trainer, the hugely knowledgable Stef from Ginger’s Way

We really do help you to help them as much as possible! Here’s some other useful information about fostering ⬇️

⭐️ Foster for a fixed period (e.g. four weeks) or open ended (e.g. until your next travel or they’re adopted) - just give us at least two weeks notice if you can no longer foster

⭐️ Yes, you usually can adopt your foster dog if they settle well!

⭐️ Food is the responsibility of the foster and we will guide you on food requirements (usually Royal Canin kibble and a little protein)

⭐️ Your responsibilities as a foster are to continue training, provide updates and take lots of photos and videos so we can update their social profiles

⭐️ You will be required to bring your foster dog to adoption events, usually every other week

⭐️ We will recommend dogs for foster based on your situation / requirement and those in need e.g those without or losing a foster home

FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - STAR ⭐️ ❤️

We are honestly so surprised that Star hasn’t found a home to call her home yet. Such a good girl who is easy going at home not to mention such a unique beauty! 😍

Who will give Star a chance? She’s losing her foster home this weekend and does not want to go to kennels ‼️

At 2 years old, Mama Star was rescued with her babies, our beautiful space pups (Cosmo & Comet are unfortunately also still looking for homes 😣). But it’s her time to shine and she deserves it after being the most out of this world house guest in her loving foster homes! ❤️

Star has learnt so much in her foster homes and is now such an easy going, good girl at home that she would do well in almost any home - she’s apartment trained and does great! And any home would be lucky to have her!

Star is a smaller medium sized girl with a unique and beautiful coat. She is toilet trained, walks well on a leash and enjoys her walkies. She is a little leash reactive at points so this needs to be worked on but she just needs some guidance.

Star is a good all rounder - she is good with all people, including children with a lovely nature. She is good with other dogs with the slow introductions and does well at daycare. But she’s absolutely happy being an only dog and has zero issues being left alone ❤️

Star has had her chance to shine in foster but her time is up! We’d love for her to light up your life and keep her out of kennels!

If you’re looking for a great doggie who is likely to fit in without issue and requires little but cuddles and love… Star is waiting for you 🌟

Firstly we want to start by saying thank you to every single person that has supported even a single dirham to the vet. We are truly so grateful ❤️‍🩹

And it’s mostly the same people coming forward to help with what they can whilst most ignore the suffering 😞 imagine how much we could do if everyone of our followers would contribute a small amount.

We know it’s a tough month but we are really struggling with crippling bills and soon our account will be frozen. We can’t continue rescue if we can’t treat them.

Animals and Us is a non-profit, registered, animal welfare charity operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), founded in 2006, with the goal of reducing pain and fear inflicted on animals by humans.

The charity rescues abandoned and stray animals, provides veterinarian assistance, helps to find homes for unwanted animals through adoption, and educates the public in the responsibilities of animal ownership.

The charity works closely with a number of other organisations to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, across the UAE.
