TESTED & LOVED IN HOMES WITH CHILDREN 🐶👶❤️

Here are some of our wonderful rescue dogs and pups who have lived with children and thrived 🥰

We understand bringing a new dog into a home with kids can feel daunting. But many of our rescues are fantastic with children and make amazing family companions ❤️

Fostering is also a great way to teach kids about responsibility, build positive interactions with dogs, and see if your family is ready for a new furry member. Even if you can only foster during school holidays, we always need short-term fosters 🫶

Remember, lots of our dogs are great with kids—this is just a small selection of those who’ve had the opportunity to live in family homes. If a dog isn’t featured here, it doesn’t mean they’re not family-friendly! But these pups have had a bit of family life experience and some basic training already 😁

So why wait? Come meet our lovely rescues this weekend at one of our fun, family-friendly adoption and foster events ❤️

URGENT FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - SANSA ❤️

For the second time in her life, poor little Sansa (formerly Jovie) is being rehomed. 💔

Sansa was adopted as a puppy with her brother Abel. For almost a year, they lived happily together in what was supposed to be their forever home. But then came a separation & relocation and these beautiful pups didn’t feature in those plans 😭

We then tried for many months to home them together. Jovie in particular adored her brother & he gave her the confidence she lacked. But as much as we begged, no one came forward. And when her brother was offered a chance at adoption, we couldn’t deny him of that. So they were separated 💔

Thankfully, Jovie didn’t have to wait alone for too long. She caught the eye of a couple who took this small, quiet girl on trial, a companion for their dog.

The adoption went ahead & whilst Sansa was still shy, she settled well & was figuring out her new home & family. Fast forward 6 months to March 24 & they reached out for help as Sansa’s anxiety had worsened. After long discussions, they agreed to work with a trainer & try various techniques. In May, we were thrilled to hear Sansa was doing much better ❤️

But in November, they reached back out that they were still struggling. With lot of changes on the horizon including a house move, given Sansa’s anxiety, the family feel they can no longer give her the time or resources 😞

We know they have tried & that Sansa is an anxious girl. Of course we wish that this wasn’t their decision but now we must focus on finding Sansa the right home ❤️‍🩹

Sansa is very small, way below knee height & around 12 kgs. She needs a calm home, ideally with a garden. Another confident & calm dog would be great for her. She needs an understanding family that isn’t going to expect too much of her - if she is too anxious to walk today, that’s ok. She’s lived with children & cats before & done well. She is very sweet but she needs patience. Please, we cannot have her sent to kennels.

OUR VITAL BOARDING SCHEME NEEDS SPONSORS & FOSTERS 🐶❤️‍🩹

Did you know that we currently have more than 25 dogs in boarding? Every one is sponsored by people like you.

But with a lack of foster homes & sponsorships running out, we’re at a critical point. Without new sponsors, we will be forced to choose which dogs have to return to the shelter which would be devastating 💔

Think of our boarding scheme like a half way house. We rescue from the streets & bring them to the shelter. Then, when they have a sponsor, they move into boarding in Dubai - it’s much more comfortable for them & allows potential families to easily meet them 🤞

It also means that when dogs have been in homes & their foster period is over, the rug isn’t taken completely out from under them & they can stay in comfort in Dubai whilst they search for a home, rather than going from home to shelter, which would break their hearts 💔

This scheme is INVALUABLE. We think that since it was launched in partnership with the amazing .ae, foster & adoptions have increased around five times. That’s insane! And we’re so thankful 🫶

But we can’t do it without sponsors. Sponsorship is 600 dhs for two weeks or 1,000 dhs for a month - significantly cheaper than ANY market rates.

Sponsors receive a certificate, updates & can visit their dog anytime, through appointment.

Right now, we’re nearly out of sponsors. Please don’t make us choose dogs to return to the shelter. This is their temporary home & they will be devastated 😭

This doggo is an absolute superstar! He’s chilled out, well behaved, loving and so handsome! He’s good with people and doggos and is just made to be in a home 😍

The lovely Andy is a 2 year old love bug. We just adore his sweet little face with those big eyes that look into your soul and those floppy ears. He’s such a handsome doggo 😍

He was rescued as a pup by an individual and we agreed to help him find a home - he’s an easy going boy who should fit in perfectly to most homes and find his forever easily (if people aren’t obsessed with breed and instead focus on the temperament of the dog)… here’s hoping 🤞

Andy is fantastic with other dogs, he is super social - he loves to run and play but is also respectful and calm. He would do great with other dogs in the home or would do fine on his own with some play time in the dog park 😁

Andy listens really well and has nailed his commands. At adoption days when it’s a frenzy for the treatos, you’ll find Andy sitting nicely and patiently waiting his turn 🥰

He’s also leash trained and loves to go on walks and adventures.

Andy is a great dog with even more potential. He will be amazing if someone will give him the chance. A perfect family doggo or for a couple or individual ready to welcome all the love into their home ❤️

FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - ICE ❤️

This big, friendly, energetic and playful boy is still waiting and we’re not really sure why! We’re sure the perfect home for him is out there 🤞

Thus big polar bear is currently boarding at .ae and he is so happy to be able to run and play! A husky x malamute (we assume), this boy is only one year old - he’s basically a giant puppy in both looks and personality 😁

Like so many before him and for reasons we cannot fathom, he was imported to the UAE as a small puppy earlier this year and already there is no want or need for him. Did they think he would stay a small puppy forever? 😡

Ice is not only beautiful but he’s so friendly. A big goofball who loves to chase a ball, he does great with other dogs and people. He is good with children but due to his size and energy levels, older children would be best.

He’s an energetic boy so will need an active home and he’s very long haired so someone that is willing to keep his coat in a good condition (no, he cannot and should not be shaved!). Husky experience would be great.

We are looking for a forever home for Ice, either in the UAE in the right home or abroad in a colder climate.

Until then, Ice needs a foster home! Don’t miss out on giving a loving home to this special boy ❤️

We might be a little bias but we have some of the cutest, friendliest pups around - the fact these guys haven’t been adopted yet is truly baffling! Look at the cuteness! 😍

What’s worse is that some don’t even have temporary foster home. Imagine, a cute, happy, enthusiastic baby desperate for love but instead of getting to snuggle on a sofa or snooze in a comfy bed, they sleep in a kennel, wondering why they’re not wanted.

LOST DOG ADVICE 🐶🆘

We’re certainly not ‘experts’ in lost dog searches, but experience has taught us some valuable lessons. Our volunteers always show up to search - whether it’s an Animals and Us dog or not - so we want to share what we’ve learned. If it can help just one family at the worst of times, it’s worth it 🫶

⚠️ Top 5 Tips for Finding a Lost Dog ⚠️

1️⃣ TIMING IS CRUCIAL: Act fast and alert as many people as possible

2️⃣ CREATE A POSTER: Print, share and translate it. Spread it both physically on the ground and online in multiple social media and WhatsApp groups. Get it in front of as many people as you can.

3️⃣ SEARCH PARTY: Make a WhatsApp group, assign search areas and split schedules. Search quietly—don’t call their name or chase. Instead, look for paw prints.

4️⃣ HELP THEM FIND YOU: Most lost dogs stay in the area they were lost but enter “flight mode” at first. Leave your unwashed clothing and stinky food (not kibble) at set feeding stations to guide them back to you

5️⃣ DON’T GIVE UP: Some are found in hours, others in weeks or months. Dedication and patience are key

⚠️ If you’re in the UAE:

‼️ Report to the Municipality and check in person regularly

‼️ Dogs hide in the heat and are more active from dusk to dawn. Search through the night.

‼️ If tragically hit by a vehicle, usually waste management collects them, not the Municipality, so microchips may not be scanned / municipality may not be alerted

‼️ Beware of scammers — there are no legitimate paid pet rescue services, and “animal communicators” have never in our experience proven helpful

‼️ Ask your vet to distribute the chip number to other vets via their mailing list

We truly hope this helps even one family. This post is for Pepe and his dedicated family—who didn’t stop for a single second and were reunited today, after two weeks!

Shadow is a handsome, smiley boy who’s dreaming of getting back to a cozy couch in a loving home! He’s an easygoing, affectionate pup who doesn’t want to spend one more day in kennels than he has to 🙏

This amazing doggo has just turned one and we totally thought he’d have found his forever home by now—he’s a catch! But maybe he’s meant for something extra special. 🥰

Shadow had an amazing foster home, and his foster dad adored him but he’s been back in boarding for months now, waiting to be picked… He’s an independent guy who loves his toys, is great when left alone (apartment-approved 🙌), and is a certified nap enthusiast 😂

But don’t be fooled—he’s also the ultimate cuddle buddy. If you’re up for snuggles, he’s there. Heading out? He’s good on a leash too! 🥰

Shadow is also good with other dogs—he loves to run and wrestle for hours with his best buds. He’s does great at daycare (which remember, is free for fosters!).

We think he’ll be good with kids, too as he’s gentle and affection 🥰

Shadow can be a nervous when new people visit and will bark at first (stemming from fear bless him) but his foster saw great progress with treats and consistency. With a little patience, he’ll settle in quickly! ✔️

He’s been in boarding for a while now and is so ready to be back in a home where he belongs. Let’s get this amazing boy back on his favorite sofa! ❤️

Thankfully, he is currently in a lovely foster home where he is thriving and making his foster Mummy fall head over heels. But it is only temporary and we’d love to find his forever because there is NO reason he shouldn’t have found it so long ago 🫶

Matrix is the ultimate companion! He thrives as an only dog, enjoys daycare, and does fantastically with children. He’s equally happy in an apartment or a home with a garden—he just wants love! His favorite things? Walks, playtime, and most of all, snuggles and cuddles! 😍

At just over a year old, Matrix is in his fun-loving, cheeky teenage phase, full of personality and charm! 🤩 He would make an amazing hiking or running buddy, and he absolutely loves toys, chews, and brain games to keep him busy. Ramadan will begin this weekend and for lots of people, that means things slow down a little, with many experiencing reduced working hours.

It’s already such a special month but you could make it even more special by putting that extra time to good use and offering a dog in need a temporary home for a few weeks 🫶

Not only will it make the world of difference to them but it’s also incredibly rewarding for you too.

We are in desperate need of temporary foster homes, always 🆘

We have many dogs waiting who have already been in homes and are now stuck in kennels – they’d be perfect for those with any experience level!

We have puppies who love to cuddle and are desperate for human affection that are stuck in kennels – they’d be perfect for those who are looking for a snuggle buddy.

Our foster process is simple – you just need to fill in a short online form, we’ll contact you for a call and once pre-approved, you can meet the doggies and see if you might like to foster one. We always get to know you first so that we can make some recommendations on who would be a good fit in your home and lifestyle.

We also offer so much support – you get a dedicated Whatsapp group with our volunteers to share updates and ask advice. We also provide supplies like leash and harness – we just ask you to provide the food. There are no vet bills, they’re all covered by us throughout the foster period and you get access to free daycare. Not only that, you have access to a professional dog behaviourist so whether you’re a first time or experienced pet parent, we help you to help them.

Dogs that have been in homes are significantly more likely to be adopted. We know Spring Break and Eid are coming up and many will travel. But there is time to make a significant difference BEFORE then 😁

Our Story

Animals and Us is a non-profit, registered, animal welfare charity operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), founded in 2006, with the goal of reducing pain and fear inflicted on animals by humans.

The charity rescues abandoned and stray animals, provides veterinarian assistance, helps to find homes for unwanted animals through adoption, and educates the public in the responsibilities of animal ownership.

The charity works closely with a number of other organisations to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, across the UAE.
