FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - MATRIX ❤️
We’re so sad that Matrix is still looking for his forever. His three brothers have been happily adopted and thriving for some time now. This boy needs some luck! ❤️🩹
Matrix does fantastically as an only dog, loves going to daycare, has lived peacefully with cats and children. He adores his walks, loves to play and above all, he loves to snuggle and cuddle! He’s also lived in an apartment without any issue as well as loved having a garden to run around. Pretty great right?! 😍
He is now just over a year old and as you would expect from such a cheeky handsome face, is in his mischievous teenage years with lots of personality shining through 🤩
He absolutely adores his walks (he would be a great hiking or running buddy!), loves his toys, chews and brain games to keep him busy. He does great with other dogs in the dog park and daycare too - basically if there’s fun, cuddles or mischief to be had, Matrix will be happy to get involved 😂
With continued training and time, he’s going to be just great. He’s mastered all his basics like toilet training, walking on a leash and his commands 🥰
Such a handsome dog with so much love to give, we know his perfect family is out there. Could that be you?

Can you believe this beautiful, sweet, quiet and totally adorable little boy had to return to the shelter once again today? Life is so unfair 💔
So many puppies are growing up in the shelter because there are no foster homes. How are they supposed to learn and grow in confidence? They will literally blossom in front of your eyes! It’s the most rewarding thing 🥰
Can anyone offer Vada a place to crash for a few weeks? He’s a little shy but very friendly and loving. He’s going to be great with other dogs, kids and even cats. Of course he has lots to learn but he’s a very willing and cute student! ❤️

Spud is now 7 months old and he is so much fun and so full of life and energy. He was rescued as a tiny baby with his siblings, all parvo positive 😭
Unfortunately Spud was the only survivor but that just about sums up this boy because he is full of life - there was no way he was going out without a fight! ⭐️
Spud is part puppy and part bunny 🐰 due to spending lots of his formative weeks in a vet cage, his muscles in his legs didn’t form properly so he will sometimes hop around as he builds up strength. It should correct itself as he gets more exercise but it is very unique to Spuddy! 🥰
Spud is a very friendly boy. He’s awesome with other dogs and children and wants to be involved in everything! He also loves to snuggle and cuddle and is just a total joy to be around. His training is also going really well and he’s good on a leash and getting there with toilet training ⭐️
He had also been living with a cat and whilst he really wants to play and much to his disappointment, the cat is less than obliging, he is very gentle 🥰
This pup has such a spark and zest for life. Please don’t let that light be extinguished by sending him to the shelter. Even a few weeks will change his life, the life he fought so hard for 🙏

PUPPY FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - JENNY ❤️
Poor little Jenny hasn’t had much luck this week! She’s had to spend a few days at the vets with an upset stomach. She’s now back to her healthy and loving self and ready to leave the vet but she needs a new foster home to go to! ❤️🩹
If you decide to give this sweet girl a forever home you won’t regret it! She is SO sweet. Just wants to be loved and love you right back. She’s so eager to please, will approach you with the wiggliest little butt and is super snuggly. She’s going to make someone SO happy! 🥰
She had been absolutely loving life in a home! Loving all the best parts like sofa snuggles, treats and playing with toys as well as learning how to be the bestest girl. Her toilet training has progressed well and she’s loving her walks now she can get out and explore. She is happy to play and snuggle but is also an independent calm lady happy to entertain herself ❤️
She’s only a baby so she’ll do well in most homes and adapt with lots of encouragement and positive training. Other dogs, children and cats are all very possible for that girl as is an apartment or villa 🌟
Please come and meet Jenny and her brother Forrest plus so many more amazing puppies, this weekend at adoption day. They’re amazing and deserve their chance at forever!

✅ We have dogs and pups in attendance ranging from 12 weeks old all the way up to older dogs in attendance
✅ Many of our dogs needs foster homes. This means you temporarily look after them for either a set period (4 weeks) or longer
✅ We operate a 4 week trial for all adoptions. No paperwork, commitment, vet bills etc until after this 4 weeks to ensure everyone is happy

How stunning is out beautiful Mama Star? And this girl is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside! She is so happy, friendly and confident - she’s made to be in a home and has been absolutely loving life since she swapped the shelter for a sofa! 🤩
At 2 years old, Mama Star was rescued with her babies, our beautiful space pups. Now it’s her time to shine and we have no doubt she deserves it after being the most out of this world house guest in her loving foster homes! ❤️
She has learnt SO much and is now such an easy going, good girl that she would do well in almost any home! And any home would be lucky to have her!
Star is a smaller medium sized girl with a unique and beautiful coat. She is now toilet trained, walks mainly on the leash and loves her walkies and listens well to her lucky paw-rents. An amazing all rounder, she is good with people, including children and other dogs, she’s a social butterfly with so much love to give. But she’s also absolutely happy being an only dog and has zero issues being left alone… even in an apartment! ❤️
Star has had her chance to shine in foster but now we’d love her to light up your life forever! She’s going to be amazing, if you’re looking for a great doggie who is likely to fit in without issue and requires little but cuddles and love… Star is waiting for you 🌟

PUPPY FOR FOSTER OR ADOPTION - BONGO ❤️
Sweet Bongo got his chance to leave the shelter this weekend so he could attend our two adoption days. He is going to spend this week in a home and see what love and snuggling looks like and he is loving it!
He is such an awesome puppy! For his age, he’s incredibly calm yet playful, super loving but independent, fantastic with other dogs but also ok to be alone 😍
We can’t sing his praises enough. As a first time pup or pup with children, he’s going to be incredible! All the fun, love and cuteness and none of the nipping or crying! 🤩
Bongo is around 5 months old, he’s a little shy at first but so incredibly sweet, he has m such a lovely nature. He’s a desert mix with all the wonderful characteristics of the dogs made to be in this region 🌟
He has a lot to learn but is doing amazingly - only one accident this whole time! He’s desperate to make you happy and promises to be a good boy.
Please help us keep Bongo out of the shelter and into a loving home. This baby needs a chance, even if it’s just for a few weeks 🥰

Can you believe this beautiful dog has been overlooked time and time again and remained in boarding for over a year?! We just DO NOT UNDERSTAND 😩
PLEASE consider opening your home and heart to this boy who is so desperate to be loved ❤️
Coco is such a handsome, lovely boy not to mention a ‘single breed’ as everyone seems to want… we thought he’d be with us days or weeks at most…
But Coco has barely even been given a chance 💔
Thankfully he has a wonderful sponsor who keeps him at .ae and the wonderful team there have been working with him tirelessly. But it’s no substitute for a home! 🥺
He knew a home once and he deserves nothing more than to be in a home again, forever this time! 🙏
Coco is a young Swiss Shepherd with all the classic traits of one! He is high energy, playful and bouncy as well as incredibly smart and super loyal ❤️
Coco is now almost 2 years old. He loves humans and does well with other dogs of his size. He loves to learn and thrives on training. He is a lot of fun and would love to find someone to take him on adventures and work his body and brain whilst having lots of fun together 🥰
He is very sociable at daycare and will do well with other dogs in the home, a female dog his size would be particularly perfect! He would also do fine as an only dog if he got enough exercise and some daycare ❤️
Coco does well on a leash, knows his commands… he’s also ball obsessed! 🎾
He would do best in an active home with a confident owner and will do well with or without another dog(s). We would prefer no children. Not a fan of cats. Villa preferred but not essential.
He is 2 years old, is a medium sized Swiss Shepherd, is fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and neutered ✅

This is Kalani. Kalani is just 10 weeks old and this week he needed a blood transfusion to save his life. He was rescued with his 5 siblings from the streets, covered in ticks and in an awful condition. Those ticks made Kalani very poorly and without this treatment, he would have died before his life even got to start 💔
Every week we have more than 40 vet appointments across our vets in Dubai and Fujairah. With no space left in the shelter, we are forced to also keep animals at the vet, just to keep them safe.
This all takes a huge toll and our vet bills at both vets are nearing 100k… that’s 200k total right now 😭

And this adoption announcement comes with some of the cutest family photos 🥹 featuring one of our dogs who waited for over a year, bouncing from home to home… but clearly the universe had a plan for her that we couldn’t understand through all the heartbreak. But now, finally, Truffle is home ❤️
Truffle was rescued at the end of Summer 2023. She was found wandering all alone by the rubbish in Fujairah, looking for scraps of food and trying to survive at only a few months old 😞
We fell in love instantly with her unique markings, wire haired coat and fun personality. We were sure that she was going to find her home with no trouble…
But unfortunately that wasn’t to be the case. Truffle was small in size and big on personality - so much fun but full of mischief and a little bossy boots, she was passed from foster to foster, meaning she never got the stability she craved. She did also have some wonderful foster homes too and a special shout out to Sedef and family who worked with her and loved her so much… if it wasn’t for travel we’re not sure she would have left their home 😁
But leave she did… enter Sarah and Dean! They had sadly lost their beloved rescue at the age of 13.5 years and were devastated. They wanted to help but weren’t sure they were ready to adopt. They had a lot on their plate after welcoming a baby not long ago too! 🩷
Truffle moved into their home & we thought it would be for a few weeks, happy she could stay in a home rather than go back to boarding. But it turns out this girl who so many had been given up on for being ‘too wild’ or ‘too much work’ was made to be a big sister! 😍
Truffle took her new job very seriously & was always present for story and nap time 🥰
And even though this wonderful family had so much to deal with including sleepless nights & lots of nappy changes, they ultimately decided they could not give up on Truffle, that she was family. And so, we got the message we’d dreamed of for over a year… that Truffle was WANTED, Truffle was LOVED, Truffle was HOME! ❤️

Our absolute super star, volunteer favourite & placid cuddle bug Roo is looking for his forever home! He’s such a special dog who charms everyone he meets ❤️
Roo would be perfect for so many with his calm nature, his super loving & affectionate personality and his eagerness to learn and make you happy. Please give Roo a chance 🙏
Our darling Roo Roo (so called for his enormous ears when he was just a small pup) got the chance to go into his first foster at the age of 18 months… sometimes the best doggos have to wait so long with so many others to try and get noticed amongst.
His foster families have said “he is the sweetest, most loving dog we’ve ever seen. He is a human lover, he follows us everywhere and always wants to lean against our bodies. He loves to give dog kisses we never feel alone with him”… isn’t that just the sweetest 🥹
Roo is still nervous and shy as everything is still new. But he’s very calm and considered with it - he has a very placid demeanour. He loves his people and with encouragement will push himself to be brave for you ❤️
He’s amazing with other dogs and loved foster sister Nala showing him the ropes. He’s great on and off leash with other dogs too and is well behaved whilst a little shy on walks 🐶
He is doing really well with toilet training in an apartment. He’s was a bit nervous to go potty outside but now he’s built some confidence, he’s doing great. He’s also a little nervous of new people coming into the home but that can be easily worked on with his confidence training 🫶
Roo has also been totally fine being left alone for some time whilst his foster works. He enjoys snoozing all day, ready for cuddles when his foster comes home ❤️

DOGS IN DUBAI READY TO MEET YOU, ANYTIME. FOSTER, ADOPT, SPONSOR ❤️🩹🐶
In addition to the hundreds of dogs in the shelter in Fujairah and many dogs in foster homes in Dubai, we also have number of dogs who board at the lovely .ae.
At any one time, there are between 20-30 dogs who get to run, play and learn whilst they wait for their homes ❤️🩹
Each one has an amazing sponsor who chooses to keep them in a friendly and fun environment and stops them going to the shelter. We LOVE our sponsors and would love for more people to take part - sponsors can visit their dogs as much as they want too 🥰
But we desperately need more sponsors to keep them there and to be able to bring new dogs! 🙏
And why do we want our dogs to be in boarding as opposed to the shelter? Well not only is it a much more comfortable, less overwhelming environment and better for their progress but it means they’re in Dubai where most of our fosters and adopters are based (or in easier reach for people in other Emirates).
When you apply to foster or adopt, we can then arrange for you to meet multiple dogs at once on a one on one basis. It’s like your own private adoption event! 🤩
And as a result, dogs who are boarded are MUCH more likely to be fostered or adopted, as opposed to those in the shelter (we don’t know why but so few want to help a dog straight from the shelter 😞)

Our Story
Animals and Us is a non-profit, registered, animal welfare charity operating in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), founded in 2006, with the goal of reducing pain and fear inflicted on animals by humans.
The charity rescues abandoned and stray animals, provides veterinarian assistance, helps to find homes for unwanted animals through adoption, and educates the public in the responsibilities of animal ownership.
The charity works closely with a number of other organisations to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, across the UAE.
The organisation was licensed, by the government, on 1st September 2017, in Fujairah, and solely relies on donations from the public to fund the charity to care for mainly cats and dogs. Those that have been rescued and those still living in the desert and on the streets.
The face behind Animals and Us and passionate founder is Michelle Francis. She is the founder, activist in animal welfare and is considered an expert in the field of animal rescue. She is not paid and does not have any compensation package from the charity. She simply has a love of animals. All the other help stems from volunteers.
She runs the shelter from her home and currently cares for around 80 animals there. Many of these animals have been collected from the streets, some with injuries and some with special needs. Michelle does not discriminate with these stray animals, she collects them whether they are healthy or sick, injured or able-bodied and nurses each and every one back to health.
In 2003, Michelle moved to Fujairah from Kolkatta, India, to pursue her teaching career. While living and working in the UAE she encountered several cases of severe animal abuse and she could not turn a blind eye and walk away. Michelle has dedicated her life to this cause and has not taken a vacation in more than 10 years because there was no one that would be able to care for all of these animals in her absence.
