Shimmering Babies Sugar Glider Rescue will be closing its doors.

Since 2010, we have done our work, existing largely on donations. We have helped many gliders over the years and have met many amazing people. It breaks my heart to do this, but we can simply no longer afford to continue on.

Our lifer gliders, like Princess and Milo and Partait and Opal will remain with us. All other gliders will be placed. As ov November 30th, we will close. I wish we could continue, but we cannot continue to do so without financial support.

Thank you to all of the wonderful people we have met. The owners, transporters, coordinators, and others we have met will never be forgotten.

Thank you the years of joy.

A colony of 11 gliders, displaced due to Hurricane Helene, has just arrived. There are males and females, some of which are pregnant. Everyone is in quarantine. Once evaluations are done and the quarantine period is over, they will go up for adoption.

If I am slow to return your messages, please be patient. I am working on three transports, and bottle feeding three joeys, one is brand new. This baby was attacked by her mom on her OOP day, yesterday. She is blind, naked, and needs to eat every hour. I am not getting a lot of sleep, and a lot of gliders need help. Please be patient, I will answer all messages.

There have been two hurricanes in as many weeks, and these hurricanes have caused a lot of devastation and displacement. We have gliders coming in as a result, like this mom and Joey, pictured below (kind of, lol. The baby is nursing, so his head is in mom's pouch).

Autumn is the perfect time of the year to get some super tasty snacks for the gliders. I will destem these, cut them in halves and quarters, and put them in with the gliders. Gliders can eat the whole fruit, including seeds, so there is very little clean up. If you only have one or two gliders, you can freeze the unused pieces in tupperware or a zip top freezer bag.

Your gliders will be grateful for this nutritious and festive treat. And pumpkins are easily available until December.

Today is clean out day for the rescue room. Cages and pouches are getting their deep clean. We do this every two weeks...

Today is clean out day for the rescue room. Cages and pouches are getting their deep clean.

We do this every two weeks. We wash and dry all pouches and felts, do a dish and bottle wash, deep clean the cages and the toys. Old pouches and felts that have seen better days get discarded.

We do maintenance cage and fabric cleanings twice a week, and dish and bottle washes daily. The big deep clean is to make sure everyone and everything stays sanitary and safe.

We still have Rose and Rowan available for adoption. Rowan is neutered, and the pair is three years old.

Spooks just came in, and he is distressing in the quarantine room. He is a rather fastideous overgroomer, and our vet will address that before he is put up for adoption.

A belated happy Mother's Day to everyone! We spent yesterday with the gliders, enjoying some family activities.

Two new gliders came in and will be available for adoption after the two week quarantine period is up. We still have a pair of gliders available for adoption. They are two years old. The male is neutered.

We always have new gliders coming in. Feel free to message any time for availability.
