HubCity Kitty is a family crocheted cat toy business out of New Jersey. Our family has always loved animals, especially cats and dogs. What began as a treat for our own cats has grown into something we'd like to share with all of you! Grandmothers can have such an impact on their grandchildren’s lives, that their work can be seen, far long after they are gone. That’s where HubCity Kitty starts. We
are two cousins whose earliest memories begin with our grandmother, sitting in her chair, constantly crocheting We are a big cousin and little cousin who grew up to become best friends and began crocheting together as not only a hobby, but a way to remember our grandmother. We also have always loved animals and have had cats our entire lives. These HubCity Kitty toys initially were created just for them. Our cats would attempt to crochet with us, by stealing our yarn, so one day we decided to make them their very own toys. A simple idea resulted in very happy cats. We found that they not only liked them, they loved them and even our so called lazy cats began to get in on the action. The next step was to try out different yarns, because let’s face it, yarn frays. We tried numerous brands, trying to find one that would withstand their claws and we finally did! The yarn we currently use is 100% cotton and can withstand cat kicks and nips very well! We continued to play with different designs and began adding in our supply of catnip into each toy. We live in New Jersey and have amazing soil. We have been growing our own catnip naturally for years and had a great harvest left over from last year to work with. That was the last component and our cats can’t stop playing with these toys! It was then that we decided to open HubCity Kitty and share our toys with the world. Our Instagram Account began to take off and now we are expanding. Every toy is 100% handmade, making each one unique in their own way.
