What a weekend! I got everything but 1 thing completed. But boy am I hurting! Worth it though.

Yesterday we went shopping, I made homemade pizza for dinner and I prepped 5 crockpot meals (we still have several from my last prepping)

Today I:

Baked 4 loaves of bread
Made orange Jam
Strawberry Jam
Cranberry jam
Barbecue sauce
2 dozen cinnamon rolls (1/2 plain, 1/2 with craisins)
Pumpkin bagels
Craisin bagels
Horchata
Enough Cheesy Bacon Potato soup for 4 meals (froze 3 meals worth)

Only thing I didn’t complete is Cranberry Juice.

Tomorrow I’ll do the cranberry juice and grill/sate some chicken chunks for green salads

The one thing I haven’t been able to conquer with sourdough is Cinnamon rolls. There are 3 components of Cinnamon Rolls, the dough, filling and frosting. There’s always one or two things that just doesn’t work out. Today I tried out 2 recipes. Like the filling on the first one. But the dough and frosting on the second one. Next time I make cinnamon rolls I’m going to swap out the filling in the second one. But I got the approval from the hubby. He loves the dough, frosting, taste and texture of the second recipe. I just prefer how the filling goes on on the first one. I’m going to use soften butter instead of melted butter.

And just like that we are confirmed to start kidding in February.

We staggered our breeding since we have a small herd and I want rest in between kidding (except bottle feeding).

First up is Dahlia one of our yearling LaManchas, I couldn’t find a LaMancha buck in my area to breed her with so this year all of our LaMancha’s will be bred to our Mini Nubians.

Dahlia x Mouse are expecting February 10th, 2025.

October 29th we’ll test Alyse for F4 babies!

Last month I made a comment that we’d have to get our 6 month old girl kittens fixed soon.

Cody’s response was ‘we don’t have any intact males, why would we need too’

The next day Nyx went into heat. 3 days of Nyx being in heat Cody tells me schedule the appointments.

The girls go in to be spayed today. Only 1 more to go when Nova gets old enough.

4 more loaves of summer sausage/cheese bread started.

Started pizza dough to rise for dinner

Started focaccia bread (new to me) I want to make a breakfast type bread.

After work I’m going to make eggnog

Busy weekend in store for me.

Friday - Work 8 hours - start 4 round loaves, 12 sandwich loaves and 2 batches of cheese bagels

Saturday- Work 2 hours (YAY Overtime), bake all goodies, deworm all goats, trim feet (this will be a big chore. The boys are in rut and stink)

Sunday - take kids down to church and hang out with my momma while the guys work on the blazers?

This cutie likes to hang out on my blanket under my personal desk while I work.

We’re getting ready for breeding season.

I feel like I have a good schedule set. I only have 4 does to breed this year. I think my plan is to breed 1 does month and space them out. Gives me time to get babies on bottles and does used to being on the milk stand.

Need to deworm and trim feet. Waiting for the dewormer to come in. So I can do it all at one time.

I don’t have a LaMancha buck, so all of my girls will be bred to my Mini Nubian Buck.

Helped Cody with a center drive this morning! I enjoy spending time with my hubs even if it means carrying heavy tools and getting greasy.

I should admit defeat!

All the cats fall in love with this scruffy man.

EXCUSE ME SIR!! That’s my kitten.

Meet Nova, she is just over 6 weeks old. She was dumped on someone’s property at 4 weeks old. She has been a member of our family for 10 days now and she’s a joy to have. She’s not scared of the big cats or the dogs.

And yes the collar is big on her wittle body. But I have to be able to located her in the house some way. I thought I lost her when she didn’t have the collar on 😂

Next week is second cutting which means it’s time to bake and stock up. Because 2 loaves of sandwich bread and 2 packages of mini loaf bread will not last and we’re out of cookies 🤦🏼‍♀️.

This weekends baking list:

8 loaves of sandwich bread (I always drop 2 a week off with a friend)

40 ish mini loaves - strawberry, strawberry banana, banana and apple

Cookies - chocolate chip (if I have chocolate chips), no bakes

Making sourdough cheeze it’s too.

One of my favorite things to do to relax is Counted Cross stitch. My mom and grandma taught me when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I inherited all of my grandmas books when she passed away.

My favorite thing to do over the last couple of years is to take photos and turn them into patterns.

I started this one last year, and I have been working on it lately. It is a gift. It won’t be done in time for what I planned it for. But once it’s done I’ll gift it to them.

Any guesses on what it is? And if you already know don’t spoil it for others.

Sitting in the porch enjoying the sunrise. I have today off and the girls are still sleeping. But me being me can sleep in. Going to bake some brownies and cookies this evening. Prep for tomorrow’s long trip.

We’re slowly downsizing our Minj Nubian herd, only keeping a handful, and slowly bringing in more LaMancha’s. I found a great deal where I was able to trade 1 doe for 2 yearlings. I also sold a doe and will be transporting them to Silverton, OR tomorrow!
