Plain Kefir is my probiotic of choice! For tummy issues or just a frequent healthy addition to food, it supplies loads of active cultures, with a protein kick and no added sugars. It should be found in your grocery yogurt section.

Did you know I take the same supplements as my dogs? Well sort of!
My morning cup of joe always includes my turmeric blend, and lions mane mushroom, the same stuff the dogs get in their food.
Years ago I started making my own turmeric blend (turmeric, coconut oil powder, black pepper) for my own inflammation, and started adding it to the dogs meals. When Zoey first showed signs of dementia, we started lions mane mushroom. It's known for its help with cognition. I ended up adding it to my coffee, which was surprising tastey. It's a great addition for an aging dogs brain, or the human who has brain farts like me 😊
The turmeric I make myself, but here's the lions mane:

After seeing a surge of intakes this summer, the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center is offering a Dog Sleepover Foster Program to help free up space and improve the adoptability of dogs in their care.

Under the sleepover program, residents can bring a dog of their choice home for as little as a night or a weekend and as long as 30 days. The shelter will provide food, bowls, and supplies. To participate, residents need to fill out an application and complete a successful meet and greet with any other dogs in the home.

An increase in intakes is common during the summer and this program aims to help free up needed space, while also providing benefits to dogs in the shelter’s care. This program can help dogs with socialization, give them a break from kennel stress, and enrich their quality of life by letting them experience a new environment. This program can also help inform staff about how dogs do in a home setting to help find them the right forever home in the future.

“Even if you are not ready to provide a forever home, fostering can help us by boosting a dog’s quality of life and improving their adoptability,” Animal Control Supervisor Arleen Garcia says. “While adoption is always an option, this program opens our foster program up to those who would like to host a dog short-term without intending to adopt.”

The Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To contact the shelter, call (520) 458-4151.

A busy biscuit week! Treats took a day longer this week - I have an unknown hand injury that the rolling pin takes its toll on. I have limited use of my left hand, but still got lots of treats out the door! Thank you for supporting small local business!

It was time to make our dogs a new batch of biscuits, but I wasnt in the mood to use any of my recipes 🤣 I mixed and matched ingredients from 3 of my biscuit recipes: oats, coconut flour, bacon fat, turmeric, pumpkin, cinnamon, kelp and eggs. A cornucopia of my standard ingredients!

Just a suspicious dog walker 😂 BUT I freely admit, I am a person who is constantly off-trail when I hike, I am a wanderer. But when someone is wearing a pink top and has a dog on leash with them, maybe use your common sense 🤷‍♀️

I taught myself to sew when Sarge needed jammies to keep his arthritic bones warm in the winter. Now, it's Carter's turn, but his body shape is all sorts of wonky, so I have a lot of tailoring to do as I sew!

Many of you know that we have had our share of wildfires/brush fires in our neighborhood (we purchased our house 18 months after the Monument fire swept through the property and took out some of the original outbuildings). So this time of year, I do preparations in case a quick emergency exit is required.
One of those preparations is keeping a small stash of dog and cat food ready to go.

🌎In honor of Earth Day, let's touch on some of the ways my treats are "green"!

*The bananas in my Breakfast Biscuits, are zero waste. The peels go straight into my compost!
*The eggs in my Coconut Biscuits are from my pasture-raised chickens and the shells go straight back to the chickens (calcium) or into my compost.
*I offer a discount on Bulk chicken jerky because it saves plastic from not having to repackage and re-feeze chicken.
*I offer a re-use treat bag program. Instead of customers tossing every treat bag, they save them for me to re-collect on their next treat delivery, and then get reused for their future orders.
*I order compostable treat bags, so when they are worn and no longer usable, I shred them and add them to my compost.

By ordering my treats, you are not only supporting small local biz, but are also supporting eco-friendly business! ♻️

Carter and his bio-brother met! We walked over (they live less than 1,000' away) and hung out for 30 mins. They were both adopted out of the Bisbee area, but at very different times, and now live next door to each other!

Being a very small business is hard - to provide the best savings on my chicken jerky, I routinely drive to Restaurant Depot in Tucson to buy in bulk, then store in my freezers. But today, not only was the chicken selection completely picked over, but there was ZERO chicken breast. I came home empty handed 😭.
Last time I contacted a delivery vendor (US FOODS) they insisted I had to be a commercial property for them to deliver, which is completely stupid IMO. Any tips for a small biz needing raw chicken breast in bulk?

The results are in and confirmed my suspicions - Carter's brother lives next door!!
Charley's family has been my treat customers for years and they adopted him from Bisbee a year and a half ago. The results show they are immediate brothers, but not sure if they were litter mates or not. We just found out, but a reunion is of course in the works since they live just a few hundred feet away! ❤️

Turmeric Treats -a perfect treat for aging bodies.
Made with homemade bone broth providing a natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin, and my own turmeric blend is a natural antiinflammatory.
Why do they have black pepper in them? The piperine in black pepper greatly increases the bioavailability of turmeric, allowing the body to absorb and use it better.
