Meet Channing! She is about 3 years old and weighs 55 lbs. Channing is a beautiful girl that loved getting to go on a field trip outside of the Dogs of Del Norte County pound! She is an athletic girl & responds well to redirection and small corrections when on a leash. She quickly picked up on walking next to her handler’s side and learned hand signals! She really shined on her walk through town, learning to sit at each crosswalk with just the hand signal, walking on a loose leash lead, sitting to meet new people and allowing loving touches, and paid no mind to other dogs walking about.

Channing’s energy is your energy; meaning if you display calm energy she responds with the same and if you show high excitement the husky in her will oblige you and be excited too!

Channing seems to always be on the hunt when out on the trail, and we do think she needs a home without cats. She has done well along side dogs in the dog run at the pound!

Channing would love to find a family! Does she sound like the girl for you? Apply today & Del Norte will be in touch! They will be bringing dogs to Portland/Vancouver this weekend and would love to bring Channing to meet you! bit.ly/delnorteadoption

Pearl is the sweetest girl, and we can’t believe she’s been waiting for a home for 355 days. Let’s help her find a home before she is at the pound for a year! She is playful, happy, smart, silly, affectionate & loves to snuggle. She likes to chase tennis balls outside and inside she rolls and pushes the ball around so she can chase it (very entertaining to watch!) Pearl loves playing with other dogs, and is very gentle. She sleeps in her bed through the night, is housebroken, knows how to sit and be gentle taking treats, and listens to commands. Pearl will make a great walking, running, and/or hiking buddy, and would be an awesome agility course dog!

Pearl is 3 years old and weighs 43 lbs. She gets the zoomies and has no problem running circles in the house or yard. She loves being in the play yard with a buddy or two. Pearl does need a home without cats.

Pearl is a well rounded dog when it comes to her energy because she will happily entertain herself if others don’t want to play. Pearl is potty trained & crate trained. Pearl did have a rough start to life and she does have some sensitivity to hands moving over her head or quickly grabbing her collar. She also can be a little slow to warm up to new people especially men…but she has been making huge progress. She LOVES treats, so with positive reinforcement she is learning to trust people reaching at her head/neck. For this reason we are recommending older children for Pearl. She is very sweet, but we think she would be most comfortable with children able to recognize the movements that cause her stress & a home with a set routine.

She is a great girl. Does she sound like your next family member? Please apply today so you can meet her on Dogs of Del Norte County’s next trip north! bit.ly/delnorteadoption

Dom would love to find a home! This handsome guy is 3 years old and weighs 75 lb. He has been making so many dog friends at the pound playing in the play yard! Dom absolutely loves affection & allows you to pet his entire body. He is kid friendly & he is always ready for a game of fetch!

Dom got to go on a field trip outside the Dogs of Del Norte County pound recently! He was friendly with everyone and never pulled or reacted when other dogs passed by as he went through various parks and businesses. He’d thrive in a home with an active lifestyle!

Dom does need a home with no cats or livestock due to a high prey drive.

If Dom sounds like the amazing boy you’ve been looking for, please apply today! He has transport available from Crescent City, CA as far north as Vancouver, WA! bit.ly/delnorteadoption

Meet Tawny! She is adoptable through Dogs of Del Norte County. One of their volunteers said “I enjoyed my walks with Tawny away from the hustle of the kennel front. She was able to learn fairly quickly that sitting and being calm was expected to come out. Seemed like she’d never really had a person and didn’t quite know what to make of body pets but did like her head scratched & treats. I wonder if she needs some agility type play to engage in. Lots of energy, still a pup in a lot of ways. Tawny is smart. She would be a good size companion type animal.”

Tawny can GO, GO, GO! She is 2 yrs old & 35 lbs. She is definitely a mixed breed surprise! She enjoys long walks and play time with her dog friends. She does not enjoy spending time with other alpha females, but has gotten along with several other dogs! Tawny also passed her cat test.

Apply today & Del Norte will be in touch about their next trip to Portland / Vancouver: bit.ly/delnorteadoption

Today is the 473rd day Wyatt has been at the Dogs of Del Norte County pound waiting to find a family. Wyatt is 6 yrs old and 87 lbs and such a good boy.

Wyatt wanted to check in and give you an update: My former owner raised me since I was a puppy, I was five years old when I came to the Pound under unfortunate circumstances. I was heartbroken my owner didn't come to get me so I cried for several months 😭. I didn't make friends even though the volunteers and staff tried very hard to comfort me. After awhile I realized he wasn't coming for me, so I started making friends with people and dogs. I'm one of volunteer Pete's favorite dogs to walk, he loves beautiful German shepherds like me.

My favorite things are running alongside other dogs in the ball run, I can probably outrun all of them 😊. I also have a lot of fun playing keep away with a ball when I'm in the corral. I need a home with no cats or chickens. I enjoy a good walk with my gal pal Pearl at the pound or some play time with my other doggy friends! Please share my post so my person sees it and comes to adopt me!

Wyatt has a ride from Crescent City, CA as far north as Vancouver, WA if you’d like to meet him: bit.ly/delnorteadoption

If you live in an area that has fireworks for New Years Eve, please remember to keep your dog safe tonight! Having ID on their collar is always a good idea, and leashed potty breaks are a good extra safety measure!

Meet Mia!! She is all about making her person happy, passed her kid test with flying colors, and she rocked the obstacle course with the dog trainer! Mia is 72 lbs & about 1.5 years old. She has had a couple of play dates at the pound and has made fast friends! Mia can be a little shy but she warms up. She attended our last adoption event & our volunteers enjoyed spending time with her! She is adoptable through Dogs of Del Norte County and has a ride north with an amazing volunteer as far as Vancouver, WA! Apply today: bit.ly/delnorteadoption

Our Story.

We are a group of dedicated dog rescuers. Milagros, meaning miracle is the name of two dogs that have been rescued from Mexico, it was a miracle they made it to the PNW into our loving homes! We have all helped rescue dogs in many different ways, from fostering, escorting, advocating, transporting, you name it. After some discussions amongst each other, we decided, why not start our own rescue. So, here we are, dedicating ourselves to rescuing Mexican Street Dogs, we take them in off the streets, saves them from life threatening conditions, then once they are healed, fixed, and vaccinated, they can then fly to the PNW.

Adopt a Mexican Perrito! You will not regret it!
