Another mechanism via which gut health can affect neuro inflammation

A study from Florida State University is the first to show a direct correlation between K. pneumoniae infection and Alzheimer’s pathology. The findings emphasize the potential risk hospital-acquired infections pose.

Well, this is an interesting finding.. I wonder if this finding is replicable and if so, how it would augment our theoretical and practical understanding of fear.

Using MRI scans, a new study has found that neural responses to different types of fears activated different brain areas, rather than following a single pattern.

Researchers from Monash University have isolated activity from individual neurons within the vagus nerve. Considering the firing activity of these neurons in the context of cardiac and respiratory cycles has aided their function identification.

Fear memories initially form broad associations, but over time, they shift to become episodic memories tied to specific timelines.

The recent research on the gut-brain pathway and it's relationship to stress/trauma and health is mind blowing. 🤯 This is particularly important for those of us interested in rehabilitating chronically stressed and traumatised horses.

Researchers identified a brain-gut connection where stress affects gut bacteria through Brunner's glands. Stress reduces mucus secretion, harming beneficial bacteria like Lactobacilli.

The case studies for the second round of our Trauma-Informed Horse Trainer Certificate course have been just as incredible as the first. There are such incredibly compassionate people out there doing very skilled work rehabilitating traumatised equines, I am blown away again 😁

Interesting 🤔

Like a computer system with built-in redundancies, a study has revealed that brains use three different sets of neurons to store a single memory. The finding could one day help soften painful memories in people who've suffered trauma.

The gut-brain link is slowly becoming clearer, thanks to research. This will probably explain some of the gastric symptoms of chronic stress too. Melita Balch

Researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine have shown that stress inhibits vagus nerve stimulation of the glands of Brunner, which compromises beneficial gut bacteria populations and host immunity.

Strange request - does anyone know where you can get a preserved horse brain or model? I have been looking for a specimen or model for a talk and all the usual suppliers are only doing sheep brains.

Understand Horses Live does it again! There is no event that leaves me so in awe of the knowledge of the attending equine specialists and audience, nor conducts itself in a way that considers horse welfare in such compassionate and agency giving terms. It revives my faith in humanity every year... Which, considering said faith is in the ICU much of the time, is quite the feat 😁 If you don't follow Understand Horses Justine Harrison - Equine Behaviourist The Equine Behaviour Vet Trudi Dempsey: Equine Trainer and Behaviour Consultant Equine ABCs Tamzin Furtado Barbara Dreyer Rosa Verwijs Aline Bouquet Holly Gallacher, you are missing out!
