Just like nail trimming, training for teeth brushing takes practice and can be fun! The Academy for Dog Trainers is running a campaign called to show that much like learning a musical instrument, your dog needs a lot of repetition and incremental steps to be able to do what they do in all the cute videos you see online. This is an early step in my plan to teach Saski to "brush her teeth" and you can see that she doesn't immediately understand what I'm wanting her to do ("Is this a scratchboard?"). Approaching training with a sense of curiosity and watching what your dog does makes training more fun for everyone and takes the pressure off trying to get to the end of the plan as fast as possible. So here's a window into what training looks like in the middle, and not just at the end :)
