My 9 year old son found this book at the school library. Once I read it to him as a bedtime story, he had to have all the other books in the series also. I bought him the entire set and he absolutely loves them all. I've never seen him so engaged and eager to hear more of the story. Night after night I read a chapter or two and he was always ready to hear more. I would definitely recommend this book and the others in the series as well. Great story! - Customer review.

Elaine has a way of explaining concepts so they are simple and understandable. There were a couple of concepts that I have been working on with my new horse. Although my trainer was trying to explain them to me, Elaine's explanations and a couple of the illustrations made the "lightbulb go on" for me. I highlighted several chapters and will reread them. I enjoyed this book and found the perspective of "listening" a great way to get to know my new mare - R. Sheehan

I recently bought a somewhat sensitive horse, and broke my wrist being an idiot on him. Two months off and a lot of anxiety about riding again. Elaine's book was so reassuring and helped me trust my instinct to go slow and bond in my time off. We walked together and did some of the ground exercises, and when I started riding again I kept us both in our comfort zone, even if that meant standing for 5 minutes to get over the spooky corner of the arena. Now we're back on track, and I'm doing the pole exercises on the app. This isn't a band-aid how-to book; it guides you in your relationship with your horse, which is the foundation of everything - Ellen R.
