Piglet was rescued from a hoarding situation in Georgia. He was meant to have a really short life of neglect and abuse. It's unlikely he would have survived his first few weeks as even after being rescued, his dog mom rejected him. He needed to be bottle fed for a while before he pushed his way back in with his litter mates.
Knowing him now, and remembering how he screamed with anxious uncertainty after being rescued and brought to our house, can you imagine what it was like for him when he was one of 30 dogs living in squalor?
Piglet is a very smart dog who approaches every minute of every day with thought and a plan. He has protocols planted in his brain for different situations he encounters-meeting new people, visiting familiar and new places, traveling in his carry bag vs stroller, working and playing with his sister and brother dogs, and loving his Facorite Dad, his mom, and his BFFs at the vet hospital.
That tiny pink baby dog took a few weeks to sort things out. He screamed and he turned our house upside down. But when he was done realizing that life had changed, he had a family, and he could count on a new daily routine, he relaxed, gained the confidence of a lion, and moved past the negativity he had suffered.
Piglet is a positive force. He's a very special dog. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what and how, but watching him embrace his life of silence, without sight, is inspiring to many. It's not that he maps his world using his awesome pink nose, or that he is able to do so many unexpected things despite his disabilities.
What makes Piglet the larger than life amazing pink man is that he makes a great effort to connect with his people and his life, wherever, whoever, and whenever. And he remembers from one experience to the next bc he tries hard and is determined to be present and live every moment with deliberate focus. He has a lot of fun and he is very happy. And while he is generally very sweet, he has not forgiven his dog mom Abigail for rejecting him when he needed her most! 🩷🩷🩷
