That's a wrap for 2022! Happy Holidays everyone! A huge thank you for choosing me to care for your dogs this past year, I feel lucky to be a small part of all of your lives and families. I hope you have a fun and restful time over the holidays and I look forward to being fun Auntie Janna again in 2023 with all the adventures that will bring! (sound on! 🎶)

Starting the week off right! We had a great time this morning exploring some logging road sections, forest trails and a swimming hole. Ft. Kamara, Rosco, Lucy, Crowley, Ellie, Malou & Piper.

Bean got his steps in and his nails did, he’s ready for the rest of his day!

Sunday meets some bunny wabbits at the Airpark. The first of a few wildlife and livestock focused social trips for us. My goal is to make these things no big deal and pretty uninteresting to her. She seemed more excited by the different people walking past so that’s a great sign!

Pullers! I changed things up for Dane this morning and we had a great game of Pullers and a sniff around the Fallen Alders field. He is used to playing with one ball and so the idea of switching between two toys was a bit foreign for him at first but by the end of the session he’s totally got it!

Olive and Rosco hit the beach! Sniffs, swimmies, ball and hot dogs… what more could an adventure loving pupper want!?

Dane tried out a zippy leash on his walk today and it worked out really well for us. This one is 8 metres long so he can move around freely but I can also call and ‘zip’ him in when needed to prevent him from accessing a distraction and reward him for his recall. A heavy duty tape flexi lead is a great alternative to a long line for those of you working on your recall, distraction and off leash skills. Cleaner and easier to manage in some cases. I still carry a regular leash just incase as I haven’t fully tested the strength of this one yet.

Luna is probably the best of this bunch at stays but here the promise of a treat was just too tempting! 😇 Normally when one breaks so do all the others, but look at them all staying put. We practice a couple of times per walk so that we are ready to be on our best behaviour should we bump into other trail users. Well done dogs!

Bestest boy bean got his exercise and training in this morning. We practiced taking treats gently, leave it’s and polite trail meetings/passings. 😇

The Little Black Doggy

Welcome to The Little Black Doggy! A Cumberland based small business offering professional and personalised care for your doggy; keeping them physically and mentally healthy, and both of you happy.

Dogs have needs just like us; for proper nutrition, appropriate exercise, mental enrichment and meaningful activity, social connection and clear communication. I offer a variety of services to meet these needs and increase your dog’s behavioural wellness; including a day training service while you are out at work during the day, private training for you and your dog, individual walks, social group adventure hikes and a dog running service.

My services are a great fit for those of you leading busy lives with full schedules, who love your dog but perhaps don't have the time or energy to meet all of their demands; and a great alternative to using a volume based dog walking, daycare or training service.

I am licensed, bonded and insured, trained in human and pet first aid and follow a fair and science-based dog training philosophy. I am continually learning from a community of innovative, positive reinforcement trainers and pursue regular professional development training through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy and Pet Professionals Program.
