Months ago, our rescue added three kennels. Mandy and Paula constructed metal roofs for the existing kennels, but unfortunately, they are no longer financially or physically capable of undertaking larger projects. Our research indicates that purchasing a used or new metal carport to cover the last four kennels will be significantly more cost-effective. The materials required, including concert, post, lumber, screws, nails, and metal, are prohibitively expensive so we have researched the cost of metal carports for covering kennels. Regrettably, Walt, Dwight, and Mesa have a tendency to destroy the current tops on the kennels. We initially used retriever kennel tops, then switched to tarps. With winter approaching, it is imperative that we cover these kennels with durable materials that can withstand destruction. It is frustrating to invest several hours installing covers, only to discover the next morning that they have been destroyed overnight by these mischievous animals.
Please let us know if you or anyone you know has one for sale or would like to donate.
Thank you in advance. We must get these kennels under cover before winter weather arrives

Hey all its me your gal Pickle and boy oh boy I am matter than a wet hen.
First mom has put doggie door down for 2 whole days and made me stay inside. I can hear chain saws, tractor, and stuff hitting the ground, but can not see a dang thing. Yall know I’m noisy and make everything my business.
Second of all ever since I lost my good friend Tootie I have laid in her old dog house daily, and in her two favorite holes she had dug and laid in. Her blanket is still in her house and makes me feel close to her. Well Well Well! When I was allowed to come outside after everyone left this afternoon i found all my stuff moved. My cot, toys, Tootie’s house, oh and some of my toys are missing.
Yall know me and how I will pay mom and Paula back. How dare them touch my stuff. I know the trees need to be cut but I be durn if they are going to mess with my stuff. As everyone can see I am not happy so mom better watch out! She thinks me stealing whiskey and hiding it in the van while on transportation was bad she better know she has not seen anything yet. Oh then there is sea hag Paula. She has some things coming her way also. She better hope she doesn’t say “Pickle stop being dramatic”. Paula always says “mind your business Pickle” I’ll show her about my business!!
Mom better get some of that duct tape she is always using and tape one eye open when she goes to bed tonight. This is far from being over!!

Day two of cutting trees has been completed. We bit the bullet on the big oak tree. We were shocked to see it was rotting. Tomorrow Mr Hallman will finish up by cutting 2 more trees and clean up. This has been a major weight lifted off of our shoulders getting our buildings and animals safer. Words can never say thank you enough to Hallman’s Tree Service for getting the job done so quickly.

We named him Kevin: He still requires extensive healing. He is afflicted with mange, infection, worms, fever, and is severely underweight. He started medication a few days ago, and we have observed him completely stopping all the scratching. He is a young male, approximately 2-2.5 years old, who has endured far more hardship than he should have.

SHOUT OUT TO MS BRENDA for helping relieve stress at MMAR!
Yesterday Mr Hallman came by to look at the trees that need cut. This morning we witnessed mountains moving when Hallman’s Tree Service drove into the driveway. We have been worried about the one dead tree for months now. We learned today that large limbs were broke off and hanging on by ivy. If they had of fell we would have lost our most important building the garage where all food is stored. Mr Hallman had to call it day early due to running into a huge yellow jacket nest. He has treated the nest and will start back in the morning. He also showed us another tree that he will cut down by the kennels due to being dead and a risk. Ginza walked around making sure his truck was ok and he was cutting the trees right. Goofy Ginza is always such a big help. Hopefully after trees are gone tomorrow we can focus on the kitten house. Mandy will be building them a tunnel so they can be inside or outside in their catio.

Diego D. is scheduled for surgery on September 10th to undergo leg amputation due to an unfortunate circumstance. He was rescued from Kingsland a few weeks ago, severely underweight. Following his last veterinary appointment, we discovered that the break was an old injury, and unfortunately, the prolonged duration of the break has caused irreversible damage. Consequently, Diego was returned to MMAR from the veterinarian's office to regain sufficient health for surgery. Our monthly medical expenses are substantial, but numerous animals like Diego require our assistance. We urgently need financial support to cover the costs of his surgery. Any contribution, regardless of the amount, will be invaluable and deeply appreciated. We extend our gratitude in advance for your assistance in helping animals that would otherwise be without hope. Something that explains a life of a rescuer we wanted to share.
Individual person that wrote this is absolutely spot on. There are so many factors that are behind the scenes such as many that are mentioned in the below post. Rescuers are hero’s to many, but disliked by others. Mandy and Paula took a seat on the rescue roll coaster almost 17 years ago and the ride has not slowed down yet. We live a life of many emotions, we receive threats, and we receive praise. We have been backed into corners by humans that thought we would stay there, but we never do. We open our eyes ever morning to a new day never knowing what it will bring. We would like to Thank everyone that supports MMAR and any other rescues that are making a difference in the animal world. Rescue is 365 days a year. It’s a life we have chosen and love caring for animals that need a 2nd chance
